Love the nicknames for the characters in the World Trigger popularity contest in Jump no. 28. I wish Ken had got higher than that place, but at least Izumi ranked Highly, Kazama, Yoneyan, and Karasuma too.
I had a post written and about to submit, then a back to back blackout eliminated it, so here I try again.
Gangsta volume 1
I enjoyed this first volume. The story goes about the dark side of society, although by the end of the first volume it's clear there's something more... manga-like at work here (well, it becomes clear half way in, but yeah), which makes some fights over the top but still enjoyable.
Nic and Worick form a nice duo with what seem way contrasting personalities but still a heart despite everything, making them the kind of criminal/non criminal one can stand behind. Alex, the prostitute they save in the first chapter though is the one i've liked the most. Apart from being a beautiful woman (dark skin and long black hair with some nice facial features), she kinda works as the outside point of view in the story. She's an outsider that finds herself into dangerous situations and through her questions, her facial expressions and her thoughts I felt she well represented the reader viewpoint.
I saw this is licensed in America and there are 2 volumes out. You guys should give it a chance imo!
While this manga is still well written and well drawn, I find myself hating it more and more and that's because it keeps killing awesome characters in ways that really hurt.
In this volume happened what I hoped wouldn't happen in volume 9 with
Gennai getting such a bad end to her life and Aonuma... Aonuma killed in that way after everything he did for those assholes. And let's not talk about the Tanuma, both mother and daughter, with the mother having her character killed by way of framing her thanks to shitty gossip and the daughter, a really nice, intelligent, caring and beautiful girl literally killed and afterward character killed.
It really pisses me off reading the story advance the way it does because there's all this political bullshit in which the powerful, stupid, petty and powerhungry assholes get to do whatever the fuck they want.
I guess it's really an accurate historical manga, despite the alternate setting, after all.
Giant Killing volume 20
Great volume that was centered almost completely on the game played and the strategies at play, with just a chapter devoted to showing us a glimpse of
Sakura's past and how his passion brought him to become a coach and also how Takumi influenced that decision.
The battle between Takumi and Sakura as coach and the battle on the field between the players was still broken here and there by the usual light comedy this manga is always filled with, making the reading experience just as relaxing as I've been used to.
Whoa lots of action. Finally some human on human killing (outside of the previous MP killers) which will probably be a trend for a while (or the rest of the series even). Jean learned his lesson, if he survives this.
That Levi and Mikasa was crazy, can never have enough of them.
That was rather depressing. Something I was wondering about: how does this tie in with the mother/daughter pairing in the last pages of the one-shot? Perhaps the rest of the arc will address it. That hypnosis book might see some play.

The timing suggests that this is the same pair, I think. So the Emanon who lost her memories was the same one who was on the boat (the memory loss happening after the boat). She marries this guy, has the daughter, and that's who the boat dude meets at the train station there at the end? I guess the mother somehow gains some sort of personality/doesn't remain a "shell"? I think the new Emanon mentioned the mother being married, so it would makes sense I guess.
Crazy spiritual escapades starring Oshimi's trademark wimpy MC and a not-so-wimpy girl. Also featuring the most hilarious NTR since Cross Days. Shame about the rushed ending, and the fact that the 2nd half of the Extra doesn't seem to have materialised anywhere yet.

I wish Hisako and the data guy win, only because i want to see some unexpected development.
Sen to Man 9
Oh man, that feeling when you have to make phone call delivery for the very 1st time...
