Puberty is one hell of a drug, the manga

Boy, it sure left a traumatic impression on you, huh? It's like the mere mention of it is enough to make you run.

Hahaha, I love that hidden message.

Plus, just finished reading Aku no Hana... WHAT IS ADOLESCENCE?! Is the main thing on the story. I was mildly disturbed yet understanding at the same time as to how lost the character was in wanting to be accepted in a click but eventually got more than what he could chew off with Nakamura. It ended up from him liking Saeki to obsessing about Nakamura and wanted her attention cause she was the only one who would see him as he was, same reason why Saeki liked the protagonist. Once the last chapter was read, I believe he finally understood what the flower of evil was and just wrote a petal of it. I think the flower represents the bewilderment of humans from a young age from a sociological point of view on how they see this establishment we as humans have made for ourselves. That flower of evil sees the world in a different light, one where desires overcome you and you disestablish everything around you to feel alive. It certainly was not an easy read and a couple things flew over my head but it was a great work. I won't be reading any heavy stuff for a while, it certainly didn't make me cry like Sundome did (the only manga to ever do so right next to the moment in Rave Master where
the skeleton guarding the city was one of them all along.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu - Daisshou - Outo no Ichinichi Hen 1-3

Its a manga where the main protagonist dies and revives again. Just like Steins;Gate,Ore ga Doutei wo Sutetara Shinu Ken ni Tsuite and All You Need Is Kill.Oh, but its set on the "i got transported to some fantasy world" cliche, so if you hate that or is just PLAIN SICK OF IT, avoid this thing like the plague.

Overall good start though, going to have to give it more chapters to build that story up.

Sounds like a less fun Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o!.

I blame hekk for this one.

Drat! Seems like its name doesn't affect you in this form.

So, so glad that it ends on a cliffhanger. Oh yes.
Expecting eyebrows to lose, tho, what with the author's desire to subvert common narrative structures.

gaf i have a question..
there is an old manga i cannot recall the name for the life of me..
the setting is a sort of "prison-like school" where students fights (ahaha so common!)..
most students are some sort of monsters, or rather spliced with monster gene or something like that..
the protagonist can morpg at least part of his body in a dinosaur and he is the silent type..
suggestion? Q_Q

up? Q_Q

Tokyo Ghoul volume 1

I'll say that the start is intriguing despite some problems with certain details (Kaneki punches a mirror and he cuts his hands, but when he tries to stab himself, the knife bends? in the story and the art ranging from Nice/OK to meh.
Kaneki doesn't feel like that interesting of a main character though. I found his friend more interesting. Touka doesn't feel all that interesting either, but the haircut gives her some points.

I'm curious about where ghouls come from and how Kaneki will evolve now that he's half human and half ghoul.
To find out, I just preordered volume 2.

In other news, my copies of Flower (/bow Amatarou), My Balls 6 and Detonation Island 16 shipped today. After a really shitty day yesterday at least some solace in knowing I'll get some serious porn, serious laughs and serious drama in my hands soon.

Some posted photos of Kaoru Mori's Scribbles 4 http://imgur.com/a/6YKmY#13
How to buy her scribbles?

Just finished reading the lastest chapter on Tokyo Ghoul Re: and man it was sort of anti-climatic but it is the calm before the storm. The little seed that is growing inside of (I forgot Kaneki's new name... maybe Hirose?) and will eventually make him lose it and come back as Kaneki.

Re: Marina

Is this what reverse cradle robbing looks like?
Basically, the protagonist weds a college student he's older than and dies prior to start of the manga. She travels back in time to wed a younger version of him at the start of this manga and hijnks ensue. I don't know how to feel about this manga but the female character has Hitomi Tanaka style, whoever that random person is.

Tokyo Ghoul:Re Chapter 10

Sweet Jesus Touka is looking mighty fine. The art with her at the end of the chapter was magnificent. Also I'm all aboard on that Kaneki x Touka ship. I mean that last scene adds fuel to that ship.

It seems Ishida referenced Himouto Umaru-chan

So we are introduced to Saiko the Neet who seems to be one hilarious character. All she wants to do is play video games, read manga, and sleep without doing any hard work. Which is why she became a Quincke so her lifestyle expenses can be covered by the CCG. Then we eventually get Urie the shit plotting again to screw everyone in the squad.

Hanbee is introduced, a member of Suzuya's squad that was first shown in Tokyo Ghoul:Joker which is cannon. The Nutcracker case was brought up including the mention of the Gourment Restaurant, could that mean Tskuiyama?

This chapter was solid mainly because of Haise's tears.

Hey guys I got the first boxset of Pokemon Adventures. I've been meaning to read this in full, and now I finally will!

Pokemon Adventures - Volume 1-3 (Red, Blue, Green arc)

I read these a long time ago with some really meh scanlations and some flipped comics I wasn't too much of a fan of. Now that Viz has re-released the series, we get more complete versions thankfully.

There isn't much artistic merit to these like some people claim, nor are they the most accurate depictions of the Pokemon games either as people claim. However one word I describe them as fits it perfectly: Fun.

What it encapsulates the most from the games is the fun and adventure from it in a very small, fast-paced package. Long are the days of boring fillers and long stretches in the anime, this manga intends to get us through things while also being a very fun read all together.

It also gives me a bit of nostalgia reading this for the Gen 1 games. My first Pokemon game afterall was Pokemon Red, so seeing the game being depicted like this was nice. I also like how it even pulls things from the TCG with Imposter Prof Oak making a random appearance in this manga.

I still call bullshit on Pikachu being able to destroy Onix and other Ground type Pokemon though.

I'm also left with a feeling of emptiness cause Red never ends up battling the Elite Four at the Pokemon League. Instead, the Elite Four are being setup as a group outside of the Pokemon League, seemingly kickstarting the next arc which I will be covering soon.

Overall, a Fun red. C

Tokyo Ghoul: RE 10

I hate this chapter for the lack of Touka. You can't end the last chapter with Touka and then have so little of her in the next one.

At least we got introduced to a new character, hopefully she proves interesting.

Ah why does the really pretty one have to have terrible people skills. Kazuki can help him out I bet.

Anime of the Year voting rules getting heated

Do we do manga of the year? Or is that redundant because few things of note start and end the same year

Don't think I ever saw a "manga of the year", most mangas discussed around here are stuff that runs for years, and if we're going to include those mangas I can see things ending in a bloodbath.

Imagine the previous types of discussions that happened in this place now being given it's own thread.

Hard to keep track, mostly for narrowing down a list of what's eligible (stuff that runs this year?, stuff that started?, stuff that ended?). And someone will probably have to compile a list of eligible stuff and who wants to do that?

Though, we can vote for Shounen Jump Manga That Got Axed This Year since that's an easy list.
And Stealth Symphony will totally win something!

Yeah it would be a pointless vote.

Also, the poor fool. Needed to learn to stay away from the Anime Thread, least you wish to be swarmed but everyone wanting everything to be exactly like Cowboy Bebop and Game of thrones while sipping their fine whine scoffing at anything that doesn't have a story as deep as Neon Genesis.

(This is probably an exaggeration, but for all the time I was there I couldn't shake the feeling of snobbiness so I bailed)

No one says that.
Although a lot of people do think the thread is a bit snobby.

Why can't everything be like Gintama :)

Well it's more of an exaggeration, no matter how much I tried I never could get comfortable. It felt very much like they had a big idea on what Anime should be and if a series didn't correlate with those ideas it was lower than average.

Personally, a rigorous voting and judging process sometimes breed unwarranted elitism. Eventually, the taste of the members converge towards a specific point and people who felt left out will leave / not participate in the end.

I don't know how it is in the anime thread but it's very samey preferences on a club I used to partake.

That's fine, and I can see where you are coming from.
