if they honor a sale they offered me.

Damn awesome.

Unfortunately my leg length is too short for it to be found commonly when it comes to jeans. I either have to get them tailored or fold them at the bottom.

Sucks

Alright, here is my new coat. Took couple of pics as soon as I got home.

It is pretty thick with a vest inside, so I am sure this will keep me warm for the Montreal weather. I do need to get some scarfs to go with it.

Any impressions?

I think it looks too baggy/big

My gut-waist is large (34-36, haven't measured) but my legs are normal. Every jeans I try on at that size looks abnormally baggy on me. Can someone please advise me on a good brand or what to ask for? Am I doomed to pay $40 per pants tailoring?

Isaia boots ;_; more shoes should be lined in shearling IMO, though i did not anticipate the purple leather lining.

Also my wife said finding me with new clothes is like finding a normal man with porn. Not sure how I feel about this.

Jaydub, have you tried tapered or slim leg Levi's? You might have to play around with the size to get a good fit.

My Uniqlo peacoat came in!

Here are some stupid questions I have about it.
1. I assume you always wear it buttoned up right? Looks great on me when buttoned, but unbuttoned it looks awkward since the fabric is so heavy.
2. Can I wear it with tapered jeans? I have this mental block that when I wear tapered jeans (narrow leg) I have to wear tighter shirts and jackets so it doesn't look weird. The peacoat is tight but its a bigger coat, so I feel it may look to baggy with tighter jeans.

3. What's the inside button and hole for? One of the buttons has a button on the back side of it, and there's one lone hole on the other jacket flap. I assume to hang it up?

Thanks guys, ill post pics tomorrow.

The inside button is used to keep the coat tight against you and helps to provide the nice silhouette that pea coats are known for.

You can wear it unbuttoned if you want to, as well.

There are two ways to wear it buttoned:
1) the bottom two buttons buttoned, the top buttoned unbuttoned.
2) the top two buttons buttoned, the bottom one unbuttoned.

Never button up all three main outer buttons at once. Unless you're in a blizzard. Or something.

Well I dont want "skinny jeans", if you know what Im talking about. I want "normal" fitting pants, that "scrunch up" at the bottom. I dont want jeans that look like it abruptly ends at the end, or flares out, or anything else.

I hope Im making sense? I dont know much about fashion at all.

Pictures would help.

Sure, what I mean is that 'skinny' is a relative thing, if put on a size 30 skinny jean, it would look a lot different than if I put on a 32. Don't get too caught up in the numbers.

Thanks for the quick reply. Since I've been working at home and havent gone out in 3 months (and gained 20+ pounds and a huge "pregnant" gut), none of my pants fit and my wife is embarrassed to go out with me because all I wear are gym shorts.

Im looking for jeans that are like this:

I DONT want jeans that look like this (looks like it doesnt fit well):

I went to the Clarks store in my local mall, and they sold me a brush that didn't do shit. I did some research, and a suede brush is supposed to have metal bristles? The brush they gave me is all horsehair. I guess I'll try to get a better one this weekend.

And the nips

Jaydub get that baby belly in check and it will be easier. :) but short term, just dig around for slim Levi's (I don't know model #s) at a local store.

Speaking of levi's I got called a prettyboy homo today (replace homo with the harsher term for gay) for preferring pricier jeans over levi's and my general grooming/style habits.

My style is pretty minimalist too. Can't imagine how these guys do it. Look at those nips.

I find it hilarious how often I get called derogatory terms for gay since starting to dress well. Also all the hipster comments are just silly.

Unless you're wearing black horned-rim glasses and a pretentious hat, you aren't really a hipster IMO.

Edit: and a scarf. Hipsters have scarves.

I rarely get called gay but I get hipster about twice a day. Mac is right though, gay tier is top tier in men's fashion insults. Means you're doing something right.

Scarves are awesome!

My glasses are black, not horned rimmed, and thicker in frame.

I never wear hats.

I've gotten hipster a few times jokingly from some friends, but I've only ever gotten compliments from complete strangers. People thinking negative things just haven't come up to me about it yet, I suppose. Whatever, fuck em!

514s fit me pretty well. Until I buy some designer jeans, my best-looking pair will probably remain my pair of 32/30 514s.

I don't understand the appeal of jeans "scrunching up" at the bottom. It makes sense if you're buying those jeans that only come in one inseam, but if you have the option, why would you do that?

I scrunch out of necessity. Can't go around hemming raw denim before you figure out the shrinkage.

I'm not a raw denim believer yet, I guess. First I don't see the point of fades. Second, you get scrunching at the bottom, and if you're going to get that, the crotch/waist had better look fucking incredible in comparison. And to me, I don't see a huge difference in those areas, although I admittedly don't have a whole lot of room for improvement.

Where I do see a difference is that the denim itself just looks better. Somewhat better, but not $200 better at my income level. I'd rather put that money into a great pair of shoes or a jacket, or some good shirts.

I'll probably get a pair of Unbranded anyway just to see if I come around to the idea of it. Maybe I'll be a hardcore raw denim advocate in a few months, who knows? I never thought I'd get $200+ shoes, and now I'm rocking my Strands.

I used to echo just about everything you wrote in this post, until I bought my first pair of designer jeans. That changed me. Keep in mind, this was back in 2009 and I still own that pair of jeans today. I don't wear them often, but they're definitely still wearable, which is quite the mileage out of a $150 investment.

As far as raw denim fades go, there's something about seeing how the denim changes after a certain amount of time that motivates me. Tack on the fact that these fades are completely unique and original to your own pair and it's something that got me hooked. I'm having a hard time explaining it, but watching the progress is kind of addicting.

I'll never get to that god tier Jeremy Scott is on so my heart will always be empty.

Also, is there any of knowing what jacket this is?

It looks like this: http://fusshop.co.uk/collections/obey/products/obey-x-keith-haring-varsity-jacket-black

It's basically a Varsity Jacket with leather arms, I can't tell with brand it is though.

This bag is pure sex. I know it is on the high end but damn! Apparently, you can squeeze in a 15' laptop in there.

Their store has few other bags for cheaper which happened to be bigger but this is a standout.

Was never much of a bag guy but that looks amazing. Unfortunately, that price is just insane. No way would I be able to justify a purchase.

Re: Scarves

I wear them purely for function, but they can look really nice. I don't get why you'd wear one when it's not cold though.

where do you people live where you're being name called over how you dress??

While I'm bummed ghesquire is out, his work is really hit or miss and I'm sure people aren't that grooved into buying $100k rtw dresses made of wierd plastics and fibers, no matter how extravagant the production.

That said, I'd kind of like to see how Wang's steez works with super luxe material and an atelier willing and capable of doing nearly anything.

i thought ghesquire was more hit than miss. his ss13 balenciaga stuff was well received by pretty much everyone so at least he's going out on a high note

I'm only 21 bro. I think most people are around that age here. Mac is like 23.
16 and pregnant

Also never get called derogatory names, mainly just statements like "you're pretty fashionable, aren't you", etc.
you're asian though, it's expected.

maybe, but it really comes down to $. same thing happened to theyskens a few years ago. demi-couture level design just ain't viable right now, unless it's being propped up by a huge accessories/etc business like LV

Huh, there aren't really any stereotypes like that here. If anything it's the average jock that attempts to dress better, although most of the stuff they wear looks really tacky like the horrendous pictures posted before.

Turned 19 last month, never heard anybody making fun of me for dressing better. If anything, they asked for advice. /stealthbrag

Oh this explains that

i'm 27 and don't have a clothing line nor am i pregnant, i have wasted my life ;(

get a diffusion line going perhaps? how does alexander mcqueen keep going, his dresses seem to be in the same boat as far as i can tell, better marketing?

mcQ probably does a lot of $$. It helps too that a lot of mcqueen's crazy expensive stuff is red-carpet friendly, as opposed to balenciaga's weird... stuff. I'm guessing this is why balenciaga edition was started, but must have not taken off very well.

I'm 29 ;_;
