Aight, I think I'm gonna bite on the N&F Super Skinny Guys Left Hand Twill next week. Will let you guys know how that goes. Seeing as they're just Skinny Guys with a narrower leg opening, I'm looking forward to them.

I would buy those, but I have big thighs due to cycling.

;(

Well, I tried out the eraser and white vinegar solution people mentioned online. It worked reasonably well. Like macuser said, it doesn't look like it will ever all go away. At least they weren't very expensive.

eh, they'll just come back the next time you wear raw denim, really no point in trying

Oh I'll just wear them, just with my other jeans. I have trouble finding comfortable shoes. When I do, I try to make them last. I am actually surprised I found a Nike that fits my feet well. I usually have to stick to New Balance.

Are those the SB Dunk Birch/Hyper Red? I own those too and accidentally bled on them as well haha. I just used stain remover to get the indigo out, though my bleeding wasn't so bad.

Hello again manshion gaf, I shall need your guidance once more.

I am going to attend college in upstate NY this upcoming fall, and the winter there is notoriously bad. I usually am not happy about cold weather. It routinely goes to 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit.

I currently have a pea coat jacket, and a few hoodies. However I don't think those will suffice once I head up north. So what are some nice looking coats/jackets that will keep me warm and protected? Even if you guys can mention a few styles it would help a lot.

And furthermore, what other clothing would be must in a cold environment? Obviously scarves, gloves, etc. But what about boots for the snow?

Obviously I can find something that will keep me warm, but I'd like to look good too. Thank you.

P.S. I currently live in central NJ so the weather gets cold but not cripplingly so.

For the winter if you want to look good and stay warm then you need to wear layers. Wearing a ginormous oversized jacket will keep you warm but won't look very stylish. If you wear a few layers (shirt, sweater, coat, scarf), then you will still be warm while looking good.

This blog has some good winter looks:

I'm not a fan of his spring/summer styles, but his posts about winter outfits are usually very good.

lolll :(. I'm going to be in Ithaca so not quite that far north, but I was there many times this past winter and it got pretty freezing even without wind. Lots of snow too. The summer and spring are really beautiful, too bad college ends at that time.

Yeah I tend to usually have layers with a sweater, scarf, etc. Thank you for the link.

Snow boot = something with rubber. LL bean has some insulated stuff that isn't too spendy.

Jacket - lined peacoat or parka. Hard to go wrong there.

Would you recommend some good quality peacoats at a price of around $100-150? I have a current semi peacoat thing but its been 3 years and I'd like an upgrade. My build is lean and medium height (150 lbs, 5'10").

Oh an a suggestion on a nice messenger bag for college use would be nice as well. I will put my laptop in it, along with books. My previous bag is super run down.

Should just buy a Herschel settlement backpack, has a 15" laptop sleeve and they are lovely bags.

Psh. Weather is no reason not to look good. I looked baller in my Ann D sweatshirt while hiking in negative degrees in the Himalayas.

Sneaker thread is ignoring me, or is dead. Either way: what do you guys think:

I think they are pretty sexy. But they go so massively against the bright and bold sneaker trend that they feel kinda boring and anachronistic.

Those are my favourite Koston 2's I think I've seen. I even like the soles

Good suggestion! Can you comment on the sturdiness?

Any other suggestions on some good bags/messenger bags for college use that look nice too? I'd like to keep it below $75 honestly.

I have the Herschel Pop Quiz bag and it's been really good. Obviously they're not high end bags or anything, but I've been using mine almost daily for the last 8 months and haven't had any issues with the quality.

I definitely recommend the Pop Quiz over the Settlement or almost any of their standard backpacks. It's a little nicer and the laptop pocket is fleece lined.

edit: to be fair you can get the "Plus" version of the Settlement (and the Heritage) which has a fleece lined laptop pocket too

Another awesome suggestion! Thank you!

Now one final question, still wondering about a good quality peacoat for $100-150. I know uniqlo has one for $100 but I don't know much about its fit and warmth. A few suggestions would really help.

Damn son. Even color coordinated the iPhone. What's the occasion?
lol I'm waiting outside a restaurant and some dude rolls up with a couple girls and offers me one.

Am I dressed like a person who buys prostitutes?!
You look like the type of person who can afford take care of a woman. The next questions is: were they $10 cracks whores or $500 escorts?
I saw that when I was at the South coast location. Not really that much I want from the in-store though.
50% off at jcrew factory. #dead

(Asking for different reasons) What's the size of your wadrobe? I'm going over the essentials and trying to cut down to the bare minimalist experience...

From that list, I'm missing: hankies, plain t-shirts, grey sweatshirt (I prefer darker colors), white sneakers, and some matching belts.

The majority of my wardrobe is made up of shirts, sweaters, and cardigans. I need a lot of shirts because I work in a corporate setting. Right now, I'm working on better fitting summer colors and clothes, like linen and light blues. My tie collection also desperately needs some upgrades.

The occasion was scheming on FL cougars. We were unsuccessful. The prostitutes seemed clean and well manicured.

Re: that list; I don't have much brown footwear. I also don't think cashmere is all that important. I don't have any polo shirts either, but I basically exchanged those for s/s shirts.

I really don't have a lot of clothing, both because I'm picky and because I have 99.9% grey, white, black, beige, blue. It makes coordination pretty straightforward.

It's really not a bad list at all. Note that it doesn't put a lot of emphasis on formal or ultra casual items but instead kinda sits in the middle. It's probably best to start from that point so you have the most flexibility.

The last paragraph about fit and quality is very important. I'll admit it -- a few years ago, I didn't care much at all about how clothes fit with my body. I almost always just bought the size L when I saw clothes that looked good to me. I only cared about mainstream name brands (Kind of like Lunchbox today. But he's still in high school, so we give him a pass.) and if the price was decent, I bought it.

Then after college, I started to get in shape and bought clothes that were better fitted to my body. I stopped caring about the label (to an extent) and put more emphasis on quality, well-cut clothing. (It was a blessing when Ron Johnson brought in Wooster to re-do JCP's Stafford line. Really great place to start if your budget is small.) Getting into shape and buying clothes that fit right are two of the best things guys can do. The rest will fall into place.

Anybody go with a uniform i.e. one outfit you buy multiple copies of and wear practically every day?

Or get wealthy and buy bespoke clothes that fit any flab :p

I think my outfit got me laid last night. I went out to a West Village bar with a friend of mine and I was wearing white chinos, pink oxford + a navy blue/pink striped knit tie, beige woven belt, navy blue boat shoe/sneaker combo, and one of those Massimo Dutti bracelets that someone posted in this thread a few pages back (those bracelets are awesome, thank you whoever posted it). I was just standing there sipping on my beer and chatting with my friend when this girl comes up to me and asks where I got my pants. One thing leads to another and the next thing I know she has her hands down my pants and we're rushing out the bar to hail a cab.

Thanks, fashion!
