Months ago, he was scheduled to reveal himself on the 15th. The fact that it's the same exact day as the PlayStation 15th event is completely by coincidence. Duhhrr... :lol Of course I didn't know that little detail the other day.

If this conference was originally planned to be in February as everyone expected, then these separate pub announcements would still have been timed for after that.gofreak said:Wow, pretty crazy coincidence. PlayStation 3 Day Nears
Sony could be less than 24 hours away from making a formal announcement about PlayStation 3, including timing of launch and price.
Sony, characteristically, is remaining highly secretive about the announcement. The meeting was to be attended only to developers but has now been opened up to analysts and journalists.
Ken Kutaragi will front the briefing in Tokyo at 3:00 p.m. local time (late night / early hours in the U.S.).
Yuta Sakurai, a senior analyst with Nomura Securities told Reuters, "These events typically address platform strategy, loyalty structures, development-related plans and other details that aren't as interesting to us, but the fact that they opened the meeting up raises the possibility that there might be more."
It's hoped that the machine's new launch schedule and pricing will be unveiled as well as some details of its online service - revealed here some weeks ago - which will offer consumers the ability to play online as well as downloading free and paid interactive and non-interactive content. The most likely scenario is a sub-$500 price and a late 2006 launch date.
It's not known how much information will be released regarding the U.S. launch. Given the probability that Sony is facing a number of problems with its launch, the company may be forced to release as little information as possible. It will also seek to hold back some information for E3.
Next Generation will have full details as they emerge.

Probably not, but that doesn't change the likelihood that pubs have probably been planning their announcements to start sometime around the official re-unveiling of the PS3. In other words, I don't think the timing of the UTL announcement is coincidence.gofreak said:I don't think what we're getting tomorrow is what they were initially planning for Feb.
A Japanese PS2 pricedrop is overdue IMO, but at least it's finally coming.Jonnyram said:Well, the PS2 price drop seems to have been confirmed already!
Some retailers are listing the PS2+FFXII bundle for 24,000 while it would usually retail for around 29,000. Since it goes on sale on Thursday, many are speculating that a 5000 yen price drop will be announced tomorrow - i.e. the PS2 will cost 15,000 yen.

PSP pricedrop? lol...
Maybe I'm crazy, but didn't someone from Sony once say something to the effect of "PSP will never drop in price"? Maybe that is what they meant -- like the top-shelf iPods remaining at a certain price point, there will always be some configuration of the PSP that is $250.Mrbob said:I think Sony is just going to add more gear to the PSP to keep it at least $250.
