This graph is really nice and well done.

Wait....

For the entirety of March, WiiU had only 1 game?

That can't be right.

One physical game, yes. That's been pretty normal for the Wii U. If Nintendo isn't putting out a game that month, there often isn't a game that month. There's digital stuff, of course, though, so it's not a barren wasteland, if you're willing to use the eShop.

I had to double check that because I honestly didn't believe it.

I mean, my God. I expected some big game hunter shovelware shit or something. Wow. 1 game for the entirety of March. What a disaster.
Same as last month. (Kirby) It's quite depressing.

"One game has the power to change everything," Mr. Iwata said, smiling often during the meeting with reporters

How they managed to get witcher 3 promotion when xbone forced their hand in delaying the game the 1st time by not launching in their home country

There was some commotion around Xbone launch because Poland was not on a Tier 1 list of supported countries, but game was not delayed because of that. Game was never intended to be launched that early. CDPR first targeted W3 for late 2014, and then moved it to Feb and then to May.

As for promotion deals, they are often signed long before game starts its marketing cycle. MS probably got it because CDPRed worked with X360 before Xbone.

Pretty straightforward month:

PS4 is still killing it, easily winning the month in our stores, by a good margin. The MCC bundle really has done nothing to accelerate as direct competition.

Bloodborne did great, better than many of our store supervisors were expecting. Though even with that, Hardline still sold more in our stores... Though nowhere near as good as BF4 did. I'll be interested to see how the trend goes. FF Type 0 also did pretty well, from what I can see. A *huge* slant towards PS4. Seriously, I'm guessing higher than 75% in favor of PS4 for both preorders and sales after the fact.

Wow, halo bundle and $50 less and still getting handily beat every month by PS4. But we should totally be worried about what we will play exclusively in November guys. Honestly I think Sony has found a winning strategy. Keep their WWS titles out of the holidays to fill the slate for the rest of the year and give each breathing room to shine. They made huge mistakes in the past with releasing titles in the holiday just for the sake of it and they get buried a lot of the time. Now they have found success with Bloodborne, Infamous, Last of Us, and the Order cracked the top ten at least (something it wouldn't have if it were a packed holiday slate) in months outside of holidays.

You quoted me just as I was editing my post about Type 0, haha. As to Mario Party... it looks like some folks picked it up, but it didn't really seem to be all that impressive.

Thanks again! Nothing to say about 3DS and games like Evolve and The Order?

They are indeed again repeating what they did last year.

Their holiday season [at least at this point] looks to be bare for exclusives, but they will attract a lot of customers because their console simply plays multiplatform games better. We will get lot of those this year - W3, Division, AC Victory, Battlefront, Siege, pCARS...]

And again like last year, PS4 has one big multiplatform game in May [W3 vs WD last year], bonus big multiplatform game in early summer [Arkham], one notable exclusive game in the summer [Until Dawn vs TLOUR last year] and one big multiplatform game after summer drought is done in ~1st week of September [MGS V vs Destiny last year].

I'm not fearing for PS4 sales this year. It has good and healthy catalogue of both big and small games [Rime, Soma, Rapture, Wild, Hellblade, GalakZ, No Man's Sky...] and customers view console as very desirable. As a bonus, we can maybe expect $50 pricedrop after Gamescom, probably in time of MGSV if 1GB GDDR5 chips arrive in time and are cheaper than current ram setup. Personally, I think permanent $50 pricedrop will arrive in Q1 2016.

Witcher 3 is Xbox marketing.

Witcher 3 is Xbox marketing.

Yes, but game will still sell a lot of PS4 consoles. My post was more oriented to showcase the amount of notable PS4 releases in the remainder of year.

Also, I think that MS did not make as good job marketing W3 as "Xbox game" as Sony did with Watch Dogs in 2013 and 2014.

Won't stop it from selling better on PS4 IMO.

Yeah, but MS has deep pockets. They have tendency of throwing incredible amount of free pack-in games to new console owners. They could add free W3 to every new console sold from mid-May to September.

However, since PS4 is widening the gap to Xbone with each passing month, worldwide sales of W3 will be firmly in PS4's camp.

True but NPD doesn't track bundle-in games so it will still sell better on PS4 no?

Actually they could bring back that "buy an Xbox One and you get 1 free game" week deal they had during Destiny and they could heavily market Witcher 3 for people to use that "1 game" deal for.

Since there will be Xbone W3 bundle, there is no point in using that. But, that tactic will probably be useful [in US and UK at least] in the week of MGS V release.

Also, we still need to wait a bit an see if MGS V will have same 720p vs 1080p difference as GZ [probably there because of Fox Engine architecture and its need for big framebuffer], and will how will audience react to such resolution difference in late 2015.

Will there be a bundle?

W3 was always shown on MS conferences. Chances of Xbone bundle are [IMO] extremely high. If they don't secure one, then the perception of W3 being "MS game" will fall down even further. They don't need that, especially with these PS4 sales.

Well, Xbone has some Witcher 3 cards.

I don't see there being a Witcher 3 bundle alongside the AC and MCC bundle.

Bishcheckers, is the AC bundle almost gone? I could see a W3 bundle if the only other bundle available was Halo.

Why the heck would MS do that? In Destiny's case it made sense, a big popular game marketed for the competition. The Witcher won't be that popular, not even close, and MS already has the marketing deal.

Why not?

Witcher 3 will probably be the only time MS can edge out more consoles than Sony in a month before October.

CD Projekt Red are very averse to the usual exclusive marketing partnerships the likes of EA, Ubi and Activision pull their pants down for. So I don't think there will be a W3 Xbone bundle.

A Witcher bundle is better option and one week promo won't change much. And have I said that The Witcher franchise is not that popular in consoles?
