I'd argue learning to master the voice to that degree is more difficult than playing an instrument of which you have the ability to tune, visibly see, and have an instrument perfectly designed for that one purpose. Not all singers are like Barbra Streisand who apparently had the ability completely innate, never trained, and continues to not train because she finds it boring.
