150 cc neogaf lobby happening now
Just got the game and tried my first match online, placed 8 with the default settings.
I noticed when I was drifting sometimes the helping steer keeps you on the road even when you would get offroad with the drift, I assume that's not possible to do without it?
I got Gold Mario. I did all of it except for Rainbow Road without smart steering, which I beat the moment I turned it on after several attempts. Thankfully the music itself was a treat Rainbow Road or not. Of course, the next track I played online was Cheese Land, thanks game.
I was looking at builds for 150cc and eventually 200cc when it starts popping up online for Gold Mario. Anyone see any issue with Mr. Scooty (seems to have the same stats as biddybuggy), rollers, and cloud glider? That gives me a lot of acceleration and handling and was my build for 200cc, except shy guy instead.
Why has discussion on this game slowed down significantly? The Zelda thread is on OT3, but this one has been moving a lot slower. It's only been out for a short amount of time and sold well, so I can't imagine people are tiring of it.
I just got an message that said I got enough coins so customization options opened or something, what does this mean?
Road?I use the same setup but with road.
I'm awful
You unlock kart pieces via collecting coins.
Next time you build a kart setup you'll see the unlock.
How does this work, only for the Standard Kart? Somehow equip them in the Kart selection screen I assume.
After a few dozen hours playing this game again I've realized that what I really miss are arcade racers. Like, racing games that control similar to Mario Kart (don't need to brake for turns) but don't have all the bullshit items. I'm so fucking sick of the items.
Sometimes the items can be a pain in the ass (the red shell is extremely annoying to me solely because it flies over pits). lol
It can be so defeating to drop all the way into 12th place in the 3rd lap when you were in 2nd or even 1st because you got hit by fifteen bazillion items in the span of 3 seconds.
I wish the invincibility frames would kick in earlier and last a little longer because watching my character helplessly flail around while being pummeled can be a bit annoying sometimes.
Yeah I hate this, once you get hit it's so easy to get hit over and over without being able to do much. I'd like to an increasing invuln time for each hit, but it's arguable that this kind of thrashing belongs in MK. Probably a more fun if the offenders are in the room with you to yell at... or strangle. >_>
After about 150 online races, I still haven't won a single time
Got second a couple of times, but never won.
i think they fucked something up with the update. getting weird lag i've never had before and now constant disconnects.
Will test with my wired, 2ms ping, 200Mb down/up connection...
Version 1.1

YESSSSSS
Yeah, there is a weird kind of fun involved in it.
Sometimes I'm just busting a gut after getting pummeled because it looks ridiculous to see all kinds of crazy things like explosions, red shells, and piranha plants toss my character around...but when I feel like I'm kicking butt and suddenly find myself in 12th place after being hammered by multiple items consecutively I lose interest.

No one made tests to see how many more invincibility frame we got?
Holy shit that's like 50 more frames and i was thinking it'd be 3-4 more lol.
1208 races.
1st: 500
2nd: 263
3rd: 137
41% of me finishing first in any particular race.
74.5% of me obtaining a podium finish in any particular race.
I'm pretty happy, considering how often I play against really competitive people in GAF and WW.
Beat all the staff ghosts in 150, earning myself a set of gold tires, which was the last unlock I needed! It took a lot of patience and practice, but it feels pretty good knowing that I'm progressively getting better at the game and slowly learning the tracks.
Shout out to everyone that helped me in the Discord, especially TheGoreMagala. You guys
are the best.
What an ending
Servers fucked for anyone else right now? Been trying to enter a race for the last 10min but nada
Bet you didn't notice this little gesture the last time you played Mario Kart and now you never will.
A new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe update has just been released, in which developers did away with what could have seen as an offensive gesture.
The character Inkling Girl was first seen in the game with her hand resting flat on her bicep while raising a fist something that could have been perceived as an insult in parts of Europe.
Netizens were also quick to pick up on it.
The gesture has now been changed, and its clear from this screenshot of the game that Inkling Girl's hand is no longer resting on her bicep.
Nintendo also confirmed the change in its patch notes.
