Is there anything unlocking/progressing playing online? I never care much about ranked online modes in games, but I'm so used to earning customization items, etc. playing online in games now, it feels a bit weird if it's just rinse & repeat with no overarching goals to work towards.

I ended up buying the digital code on Amazon JP (I couldn't resist). It was at the same price (~49€) you can get the game physically here (Spain). No issues whatsoever. Once I clicked on the URL Amazon sent me and logged with my Japanese Nintendo account, the game started downloading automatically on my EU Switch like magic. The game is in Spanish.

I like that they have tweaked some things of the game (for example, you can now change your car and character without having to leave the room in an online game).

Looks great and the HD Rumble is very well implemented (probably the best use I've found of it so far apart from Zelda).

This game looks fantastic in 1080p but one thing is really throwing me off: Miis' facial expressions don't change at all in this game. It's just a blank stare the entire time. Hit with a shell? Stare. Win first place? Neutral look. Just seems like a weird thing to leave out of all things.

You're fine. It usually doesn't give you the release date delivery some times and gives you the normal delivery times but you ordered within that time when it was available so you will get it today.

It's happened to me and I complained and it still came that day and I felt bad for complaining :p

Are downloads locked to device?

More specifically, if i buy the game on my account on one device, but wish to play it on another device, can i re-download it directly on that other device, or do i have to disband link with my current device first?

Or is it completely system bound?

Thanks for the reassurance! Sounds good if true. I made sure to thank the rep for his help and explanation even if I didn't quite understand the run around with the tracking status.

To be fair I have been screwed by Amazon's release date delivery before so it's not like it's unheard of, but good to hear it could still come today.

In the regular online mode against randoms you start off at 1000 points and lose or gain points depending on how you place in each race. So I guess there's an overarching goal to build up your online score, if that's your type of thing.

Hd rumble is nice with this game.
When start driving while countdown, you can feel the grip on the road.
(im using the pro controller)

My order didn't ship from Amazon either. Still slated for today but I don't know how that's possible.
Only thing I can imagine is that Amazon is going to deliver it themselves today. There's no way it gets on a UPS truck now.

I talked to an Amazon rep a few hours ago and they said it was going to arrive Saturday. Ended up cancelling and ordering digital.

I went in all grumpy about Battle Mode because I hadn't enjoyed it since Mario Kart 64, and now I love it. Battle Mode is back!

Because it was not like that on wiiu.

You even got stamps for miiverse if you beat a cup with a gold trophy with each character.

Even if i already unlocked everything I feel you, and they should just have everything locked and give a cheat code so any old players could unlock everything if they wanted.
Put that code even in the box.

Well, who knew people like to unlock things in multiplayer games? I thought the general consensus was that characters and levels should all be available from the start. Or does this only apply to fighting games?

Before I jump in, what's the best way to initially experience this game?

I play handheld all the time, so I reckon I'll do docked for a couple games then be blown away by playing it on a handheld ;P

The only thing I wish they'd change is that you can view your unlocked car parts (and unlock them) while online. It's annoying having to back out of online and go back in to open them!

Guys, how does the pink powwrslide work, and how do I get a perfect start?

This game is utterly brilliant btw. Can't believe I am playing this on a handheld. Far more impressive then my PS4 Pro IMHO!!
