Fuck that.
Take one of the cube, speherical or irregular elongated shaped planetoids in Super Mario Galaxy and you are hidden by the curvature of the surface. Battle mode takes place in antigravity mode on the surface of them.
Hell, a toroidal planetoid with some internal tunnels as well as an outer shell would be awesome too.
ie battle mode on the surface of something like that
I was never the biggest battle mode fan before, but it seems I'm the only one who thinks it being on actual stages is a lot better than on separate arenas.

So far my prediction of 88%-92% is right on the money with the average being 89%.
Looking forward to playing the demo tomorrow!
Excuse me, demo? What did I miss?

Jesus at that 7.5 NWR review. I don't care that he scored the game low-ish, but the review itself is abysmally written.
My only issue with the multiplayer lies within the two-player option as the screen is now split vertically and this is not something I am too familiar with. There are no options to change it and you can't each have your own screen with the television and Wii U GamePad. Instead, if you go to the off-TV Play option, there is a splitscreen on there as well and that is quite silly. If you playing alone, it is worthwhile option, but they could have done so much more with the controller.

Now I'm disappointed. Can you imagine a Battle Mode set on a Mario Galaxy planet?

The battle mode being put into the courses themselves is a terrible decision. That will just have people racing around flying past in opposite directions on repeat. All battles will feel the same and encounters will be less frequent
Maybe I'm just misunderstanding it but the IGN review makes it seem like there's no way to play with a friend in a public lobby. Is that really the case?
A bit disappointing if so because I was looking forward to playing in public lobbies with my brother.
2 players local can play online together.

Sorry I should have been clearer. I meant online, not locally. We don't live nearby each other anymore and have separate Wii U's. Wording of the IGN reviews makes it seem like we can't invite each other to a public lobby but that seems kind of strange if so.
Oh then I think you can join friends from your Friends List in the Wii U OS.

Nintendo continues to impress me with a knowing awareness of what needs to be fixed in their games. Seemingly minor fixes help to make Mario Kart 8 the most playable and balanced racing game Ive ever laid thumbs on. For example, you will never wonder what item the racer ahead or behind you is carrying as everyone holds their item while they race. You can only hold one item, so you can no longer drag a shell or banana behind you to defend against incoming red shells.
Ive played enough Mario Kart in my life to know that this is the best version of the venerable kart-racer since the Nintendo 64 era.

You think? Now I'm unsure of how anything in this game works when it comes to online. We need a breakdown of how this works exactly.Oh then I think you can join friends from your Friends List in the Wii U OS.
My Italian review is up if you want to check it out, it's a solid 9,2

I think I "know my Mario Kart" and this is really the best one since MK DS and probably the most balanced. Too bad for the absence of any new interesting mode and the worst battle ever!
Anyway, it was fun while it lasted LOL

I'm glad to hear this. Mario Kart DS is my favourite in the series but I also know it had certain balance issues (mostly due to the karts not all accommodating snaking). Mario Kart Wii had poor item balancing, but then Mario Kart 7 improved things quite a bit, so I'm glad to hear Mario Kart 8 is potentially even more balanced. My Italian review is up if you want to check it out, it's a solid 9,2
