So... Agents of Shield got really good, really quick. Thought the leap in quality was exaggerated, but nope, watching S1E19 and it's just... really good to watch.

Just wait till you hit season 2...it's like night and day

I know Gunn has stated no other Earthlings, but I'm going with Hulk, since the rumors are
he gets shot into space at the end of Age of Ultron.

But gunn also said no hulk. He also said the story he has planned for GOTG2 is more or less an original one.

There's something about Gunn that makes me feel like he's full of shit. Great, he made a wonderful, fun movie. He's not exempt from playing along with the rest of the MCU though (see: Edgar Wright). If everything he says Guardians 2 won't be come to pass, then fantastic. I can't help but think he's either lying or won't get his way on something eventually though. I'll be excited to see his film either way.

I sincerely don't think Gunn is lying about not having Hulk in GotG. GotG is connected to the rest of the universe by building to the Infinity War movies and building up Thanos. They don't need the Avengers, it would only dilute the somewhat separate brand. I really feel like Gunn loves those characters and is dedicated to keeping it its own thing until the crossover.

As TDLink said, GotG2 doesn't need any Avengers since it would only bog down the experience. Gunn already made the Guardians an A-list franchise, & Marvel Studios already approved a script they through was risky. If they've learned anything from Edgar Wright, they're letting Gunn mostly do his own thing (sans maybe a Thanos scene or two). Plus, as stated before, he called out those Hulk rumours specifically as bullshit, & his no Earthlings policy was why Richard Rider wasn't in the first movie despite being in the original draft.

Gunn should be the last person anybody to say is full of bullshit. Come on, this is the guy who just called out the oscar cermony, who did the most fuckable superheroine blogpost that was satire and so forth.

Am I the only one who thinks Inhumans should launch in February 2019? There should be some uncertainty of what comes next for the MCU after Infinity War Part 2.

If Marvel moved Inhumans to February, people would be screaming nonstop about how it must suck and got moved there to die.

LOL Let them scream.
Exactly. If I recall correctly, it was Marvel Studios who pioneered the legendary Beginning-of-May slot, & it was Marvel Studios who pioneered August as a good month to release movies on. If Deadpool doesn't do so next year, Marvel (in theory) could use Inhumans to inject some life into that month. Plus, February hits aren't uncommon as The Lego Movie proved.

No, I think Raimi's Spider-Man films started the May thing. Anyway, it would be better overall if blockbusters weren't all jammed into the spring and summer seasons.

Thanks for the correction, man. But you get my point, & it would be nice if the blockbusters were more spread out. It's like when the ketchup on your burger is mainly in one spot rather than evenly spread out.

Did Marvel really pioneer releasing movies in May and August? I see you always throw these type of statements around about Marvel being so awesome but without any facts. I'm not having a go, but it does come off a bit weird. People joking about you as the Marvel PR department aren't far off. ;)

I was mistaken about May, my fault, but most laughed about the August release for GotG saying it was dead on arrival.

Yeah but to be fair, that doesn't mean they pioneered August. Rise of the Planet of the Apes made about $500mil in August 2011. They didn't pioneer it either.

If it wasn't even Apes, then who? Most believed that August was a dead month until recently.

The Expendable movies at least tripled their budgets in August. Probably good enough. GotG probably has the biggest box office (I'm not going to bother looking it up) but saying they pioneered it is going a bit far. Marvel are awesome regardless.

Fair enough, I guess you learn something new everyday. Thanks for the corrections.

Kenneth Branagh talks about working with Marvel:

He said his decision not to direct the sequel to Thor had nothing to do with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige's considerable input. "It was a long time [making the first film] and they were way too quick for me to get straight back into another," he noted. "[But] it was a pleasurable experience and a film I'm very proud of."

Could Branagh direct Thor: Ragnarok??

would love it if he came back for the third film. the Thor/Loki drama was the best part of the first movie and that will be amped up to the max in Ragnarok.

The Raimi films definitely didn't originate that, either.

Going back a few years, here's what the first Friday in May looked like:

2001: The Mummy Returns
2000: Gladiator
1999: The Mummy

...looking at Wikipedia, 1998 and 1997 don't appear to have had any major blockbusters until later in May, so I guess it was The Mummy that started it.

It better be Mantis. She's a core member of the team and the much better female member compared to Gamora (who is just plain boring).

Yeah, put Moondragon on the team and annoy me for the entire movie with the constant reminder that she's not Drax's daughter anymore. Drax was too recklessly remixed.

Moondragon is also a lame character, and would feel too much like a retread of Gamora if they used her.

Phyla and Mantis are the only two that really make sense...but it really needs to be Mantis.

Phyla comes with a whole lot more baggage they'd have to explain.

I just want Mantis and Cosmo (for real). Don't fail me Gunn.

I'm redoing my wallpaper and I know it looks like shit, but do you guys know where I can find full body pictures of the Guardians with just a white background (will make the work easier)?

Who's missing:
- Iron Man (betting on Marvel releasing a pic of him tomorrow)
- Ant-Man
- Scarlet Witch
- Quicksilver

It's going to be Mantis (hopefully), unless they plan to establish Captain Marvel through Phyla.
