Marvel cosmic invasion announced.

Only interested because its Dotemu, not Marvel. Looks like an uglier, stumpy character version of the arcade beat em up.

I’m a little Marvel’d out, to be honest, but I DO really dig the idea of playing Spider-Man and Venom simultaneously. It’s obviously looking VERY similar to the TMNT game, but then that was one of the most fun play throughs I’ve had as an adult, playing through the whole game with my friend online, and I dig the art style, so I’m definitely down for it.

Hope they add Carnage, though. Probably unlikely unless as a possible DLC character, but would definitely be awesome.

Questionable choices for some of the announced/featured characters (which dev was a Nova fan?), but this looks great. Makes you wonder what took them so long to make it. This type of thing should be easy sales and I like the look. Combat seems a bit slow, but they can fine tune it.

Love the version of Storm they picked, she looks great.

Surprised they didn't just stick to X-MEN characters, but I'll take it. 2D gaming lives on. They did a good job with their other 2D efforts.

I am totally in because I like this style of beatemup, but I think that I read/saw/heard that the roster is 15 characters? If so, I feel like it should be more with so many characters to choose from.

Always had a soft spot for quasar/martyr ever since annihilation, but that long red hair nova from the 90s is certainly a choice...., I guess they must've thought it would be some cool deep cut, but that hair style was canned so quickly most people don't even remember it (and for good reason).

I heard 18, but yes there are more characters than the initial 7 or so they've shown.

I really hate this super kiddy/deformed look pixel art style that has plagued all of the beat em ups lately. TMNT, Double Dragon, Power Rangers. They all have it.

Why does this look worse than a game that's 32 years old?

Agreed, the new graphics do not look bad but I am not a super fan of the deformed / more childish cartoony style…

I'd like to be excited for it but after Shredder's revenge which was quite meh to me, I can't. Streets of Rage was a blast both on the gameplay and artstyle.

I am not a fan of the style of pixel art they used for Shredder's revenge and not this game.
TMNT was pretty shallow in term of combo compare to SoR4 and this new game seems to follow the same trend.

Streets of Rage 4 was a unicorn project with multiple different developers working on it. It will probably never happen again. Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games. I believe GCG is the one that elevated the game higher than the usual beat em up in terms of gameplay, technical combos, fighting-game-like precision. They're working on Absolum.

I've hated Marvel for years but this looks like a sort of spiritual successor to the CPSII xmen arcade game.

So count me in!

This is the only game that got me to straighten my back and pay attention during the Direct other than Metroid.

Good but I hope that Coop will be less confuse than Shredder's Revenge's one
Too much stuff on screen to understand fights

Shredder's Revenge has all the ingredients to add up to the best TMNT game but it's just not as fun to play as Turtles in Time. It's still nice, but it feels like a concerted effort to surpass a 90's game yet couldn't.

It does look like you're comparing 25% of a screenshot (ultra zoomed) to a full screenshot, so maybe not the best choices?

I feel like if you cut off 75% of the lower image and zoom it in 300% it'd be a bit rougher.

I think it's more an artstyle choice. Bottom is trying to look cool so that kids that like the cartoon/comics would think it's cool to play as their favorites in the game. Top is trying to look "OMG XD, I GOTTA GET THAT FUNKO POP" + nostalgia bait. Not that it's bad, but it's a different approach to the characters, in my opinion.

I like how the pixel art gives me Capcom vibes. Wasn't expecting this and it looks pretty damn good. I'm definitely in. Hope it delivers.

Very nice pixel-art, but just like Shredder's Revenge, it doesn't guarantee an excellent game.

SoR4 remains, by far, the absolute reference. I can already tell that animations having too many steps is an issue. BTA need that instant, precise hitbox feedback. If hitboxes are constantly changing because the animation has too many steps, it greatly affects gameplay predictability : feedback is not good.

Totally agree, the cute/deformed look is trash and I'm left wondering why this recent string of throw-back brawlers share this look.

At least the upcoming Double Dragon Revive looks decent both in gameplay and artstyle.
