This thread is primarily used for Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Defenders now. Everything else is in their respective threads for Daredevil S2 and Jessica Jones.

Heroic Hollywood has the synopsis for Luke Cage:

“Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison.”

Wait... Willy Stryker?

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Wut?

Willis Stryker a.k.a. Diamondback.

Willis Stryker
The first Diamondback was a foe of Luke Cage. Willis Stryker, one of Luke's childhood friends, first appeared in Luke Cage: Hero for Hire #1. Known as Diamondback for his mastery of knives, including specially-gimmicked knives that exploded, released toxic gases or created sonic waves, he was apparently killed in an explosion in Luke Cage: Hero For Hire #2 (June 1972).

As someone not familiar with the character of Luke Cage....how exactly did the medical experiment that gave him his powers go awry? Sounds like it went perfectly to me.

The Wiki entry just describes it as being "pushed beyond the limit". I doubt he's as strong as Cap, but Cap's skin can definitely be broken.

in comics he was put in a pressure cooker and it blew up. He wasn't suppose to survive

Sons of Anarchy standout Theo Rossi has been cast as a regular opposite Mike Colter and Alfre Woodard in the third series from Marvel’s four-series package for Netflix. Additionally, I’ve learned that Rosario Dawson will reprise her Daredevil role as Claire Temple in Luke Cage.

First introduced on Daredevil, Dawson’s Claire also is set to appear in the second Marvel series, Jessica Jones — where Colter’s Cage also will make his debut — before moving to Luke Cage.

More casting...

Luke Cage has rounded out its core cast. I’ve learned that Simone Missick has landed the younger female lead opposite Mike Colter, Alfre Woodard and Theo Rossi in the third series from Marvel’s four-series package for Netflix. She will play what is listed on the breakdown as “Missy”, a woman with a strong sense of justice. I hear the actual character is Marvel’s Misty Knight, a former NYPD officer who gets a new bionic arm by Tony Stark after losing her in the line of duty. She eventually launches a detective agency, helping Cage (Colter).

Oh shit, Misty Knight! No chance she doesn't also appear in Iron Fist as well.

Maybe he misheard Misty as Missy?

They usually use fake names for these things that are intended to throw leakers off, but are actually hilariously obvious. For instance Killgrave being referred to as "Kincaid" in the JJ casting sides

Mahershala Ali Joins the Cast of the Netflix Original Series 'Marvel's Luke Cage'

“Marvel’s Luke Cage” has found its Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes with the casting of Mahershala Ali (“House of Cards,” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay –Parts 1 & 2”). The series will premiere in 2016 everywhere that Netflix is available.

Stokes, a Harlem nightclub owner, will become an unexpected foe in Luke’s life when Stokes’ criminal activities threaten Luke’s world.
