You really don't, but that sort of thing gets brought up in any race-bending discussion. It's the same stuff any writer has to think about for a few seconds before making any kind of change to a character or story in the adaptation process.

Yeah ok

Does Iron Fist needs to be a origin story like Daredevil (and like Luke Cage appears to be)? I mean, was the character pitched just because he is part of the Defenders, because he would be an interesting adaptation, or because his story/chemistry with Luke?

If Danny's show is more about being the Iron Fist, or being someone who visited K'un L'un, there are more problems than if the show is more about a white dude being friends with a black dude and learning how to throw some punches in the process (and maybe his mystical aspect comes later, or more subtle).

I see some people wanting CG parties with tons of action and the Seven Weapons and everything, and some wanting something less heavy handed and wu xia narrative, more focused on Danny himself. There is a lot directions to go on.

So can someone tell me when the thread about the Iron Fist rumor closed? Are we not allowed to make threads about the rumors anymore because of how crazy they've gotten?

It's fine to make threads about rumors which you feel are credible enough to warrant discussion. If you make a thread and go "I don't believe this and it looks dodgy as hell, but I must make a thread anyway" then you get juniored.

I really think those Iron Fist rumors should stay in here or else Off Topic will get "flooded" with Marvel threads again.

I especially don't understand why one would make a thread based on a source who have no reputation.

Yeah you probably right. Especially seeing that the rumors seem to come out every other day about Iron Fist.

Alright was curious because it has been getting a little ridiculous lately.

Okay I gotta say this but I really think we should have a production thread for Daredevil S2, even if it is in the community forum. A place were all the latest released info and media can also be in the OT.

But it's probably just me.

Or maybe use this thread for upcoming seasons I dunno. Until they're ready to get an OT.

Daredevil Production Thread Season Two wasnt that well received when I asked the last time, but I can make one.

I dont know.

It makes no difference and I don't understand why y'all are so concerned about production threads. Just the post the shit here if you have to post it.

But OTs only are made a couple of days before the show starts, and I can understand people who dont want to a bag full of news but only specific to one show.

That's what I'm saying. Post the Daredevil S2 news in the Daredevil S1 OT. Post Jessica Jones news in the Jessica Jones OT, and those who want, can post the news in here as well. No problem.

I don't see what so different or special about these shows compared to every other TV show discussed on the forum. Off season news and stuff are posted in the OTs, unless there's something significant and new which warrants a news thread. That's how everything works. Why are these shows different? They shouldn't be. There's no Game of Thrones Season 7 Production Thread or anything. :p

That's why we are keeping it to the OT's and in here. So many are commenting on it, yet it is already settled. :)

Probably because they tie into the MCU and some people view these as 13hour MCU movies since they don't follow the same trajectory as serial dramas(like Agents of Shield). So, they're getting the same treatment as other MCU offerings. The types of threads these shows get are the same types the MCU movies get.

At least, that's how it looked to me.

Marvel is still working on Iron Fist.

"There was a lot of speculation about what was going on with "Iron Fist," because [fans] hadn't heard anything about it, but there's never been any change at all. We knew exactly what we were doing at Marvel and at Netflix. Let's get "Jess" out there, everybody knows that "Luke Cage" is up and going. What I can say right now is, we're very excited about "Iron Fist," and the short answer is, yes there'll be news."

I'm really curious if Marvel and Netflix are gonna announce a Season 2 for Jessica Jones within the next week. It took them 10 days with Daredevil.

Sounds like the rumors are true.

Ddit: Oh wow, you guys are really reading that expecting substantial news? If anything it'll be appointing a showrunner. I don't see Rand or any character being cast for a while still.

I don't believe they've simply always had a plan either. There's been hitches. Because if everything's fine, why is Rand not being introduced in Cage's show? Like, how do you pass that up? I think he should be as important to introducing Cage as Cage was to introducing Jones.

Wut?

The rumors constantly says that Iron Fist have been either replaced, cancelled or turned into a tv movie, while none of those are true.

I guess I should've been more specific. I believe the allegations that they're having a difficult time adapting IF because they don't have and seemingly can't find a showrunner with a vision for it. I never really doubted it, but Jessica Jones solidified it for me. That show is very much a product of Melissa Rosenberg's design and I honestly think it's better for it. So if they have pause with IF, I say good. Don't rush it. Find the perfect person for it.

Iron Fist now has a showrunner, Scott Buck:

New thread-worthy, perhaps. (ETA: and sure enough, there's a thread!)

I IMDB link'd his name above. He's best known for his work on Six Feet Under and Dexter.

He wrote the following SFU eps:

- Singing for Our Lives (2005)
- Dancing for Me (2005)
- Bomb Shelter (2004)
- That's My Dog (2004)
- Everyone Leaves (2003)
- You Never Know (2003)
- It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year (2002)

So, some of the best episodes, and the most polarizing (whose quality is very debated) one.

I always get told that the last years of Dexter were shit, sooo... Was this his fault or who is to blame?

What's with the Dexter hires? Rosenberg was a big player on early Dexter too... I guess she must have had a big influence on pulling Buck in.

Well, it is really a pitty but after his decease he became a perfect shit, as a person, as an artist.

He still get free passes from his incredible past work. Have you seen Dark Knight Returns 3?

They found a show runner for Iton Fist.

The same guy that was in charge for the final four seasons of Dexter.

Ugh.

They do know that those last four seasons sucked big donkey balls, right?
