I just ran the first two Cosmic terminals without issue, so I'm feeling a bit better about where I'm at. Hopefully I can get to the point where I can run patrols comfortably.
patrols are orders of magnitude more difficult than cosmic terminals because there are always multiple bosses at the same time with a ton of health, the game chugs like a mother and the bosses individually do more damage, so combined it's one-shot city. Honestly I wouldn't even bother unless you're fully geared in 69 gear or have really good artifacts, not worth the hassle. The upshot is that uniques are stupid easy to come by in cosmic patrols if you have the werewithal to suffer through it. But bovineheim is easier and quicker if you just want your uniques.
But at this point you pretty much can craft your ultimate gear from scratch, don't you? Is there still the thrill of getting that super rare item from a drop with all those systems in place? Or is it more like finding all the pieces of the puzzle either in drops or with shards and assembling it yourself?
It just makes the grind a bit less. Say you get 3 set gloves but all you need is the boots, you can reroll those gloves and hope you get those boots from the set that you need. Or you get a Rare with really good stats, you can gamble and turn it into a random legendary with those same stats, but the odds of it being the Leg you want are still pretty low.
Mostly, these changes make seasonal play much more interesting because gearing up won't take quite as long, but with the Cube of Kanai there will be so many more build options that I imagine that there will be more viable builds (at least for up to Torment 10) for every class than ever before. I'm really hype for the build options it opens up, whether for goofy gimmick builds or TEH SICK NEW META, and also no more farming for that perfect Ring of Royal Grandeur because you can just get any old one and slot it as a passive. So nice.
