Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds |OT| - Ya down with OTG? Yeah, you know me!

For any Chris users I figured I'd share this with you:

I find doing his full combination punch combo of QCB + L -M - H can be a pain in the ass to land consistently for whatever reason. I found if you do a QCB + L then start hitting all 3 attack buttons rapidly at once the combo comes out about 9/10 times when you find the right rate at which to press all 3 at.

Has anyone else found a better way to land the combo punch combo? I've tried to just do it the "proper" way either at a slower rate or at a faster rate. Neither works to get the damn thing to happen consistently.

I love doing L, M, H, Forward + H, QCB +L, L, M, H, launch. The damage from that alone is often 50% of a health bar.

While I agree with some what was stated, I disagree with MOST of it. Now, I'm the one who will buried alive in saying... MvC3 isn't as deep as 'some' people want to believe. But then again, I'm lowly scrub who only plays casually.
That's impossible to determine within a week or two. DLC, potential balance patches, people playing around more and more with team and assist combinations...

There really is a lot of different factors cooking beneath the surface in a game of this type.

And to the people who are yet again complaining , and more to come I would assume about how Marvel isn't deep , and it's cheap, and Capcom should cater to you. No.

Learn the game, if you don't want to invest time and instead want to complain about Sent this Sent that, learn setups in order to counter him. If your opponent is down to XF Sent and for some reason you have 3 characters and lose all of them, well you fucked up.

I honestly can't comprehend, the game is simplified and more balanced than MvC2 will ever be and yet we still have people who are not capable of taking the time to LEARN the game.

Out of the handful of games I've played on ranked I have yet to play a single person besides a Gaffer or a friend that can perform an air combo, and which I proceed to rape them.

Go through your recently played list and send me their gamertags. I could use some practice matches. :D

I hate Sent. I can't beat him at all. He just spams the low beam, and when I get in, if I mess up once, he kills one of my characters every time. Sooo annoying. D:

Yea.. I use Sent as well but that's just a bitch tactic imo. And then they use Doom's Hidden missile as well. Thank god that shit didn't work against me. I just rush in and own them.

This. I mean, Im horrible, have trouble with combos and air combos specifically, and am generally new to the fighter genre period. That said, when I get curbstomped, thats on me not knowing either A)what to do get out of that situation yet, or B) do know, but have yet to gain the skill to get out of it when I need to. Im new to fighting games and Im using a stick for the first time. So Im trying to break through 2 different walls at once. Im dedicated to sticking with it and know I will because Im having a ton of fun getting destroyed so far, but whenever I figure something out or get something down with any character, its very rewarding to me.

Its funny reading the forums though when people talk about who is over-powered. Im pretty sure at this point I have seen every single character mentioned. lol Must mean its balanced!

I'm getting bored of singleplayer and am running out of things to do. Might actually pick up a prepaid Live card this week and give the online a whirl.

But it's easier to throw my hands in the air and blame all of my shortcomings on the supposed fact that this game caters to "pro" players too much. Whatever that's supposed to mean.

I was in your shoes all launch week until yesterday had just been doing, mission, training and viewing all arcade endings before finally giving online a whirl yesterday. I created a lobby and 15 seconds later someone joined, we played a good 20 games i took about 15 of them, guy was a good sport, but he had a bad connection but fun games and i realize i have a long ways to go soooo scrubby.

Is this game too easy or too hard, I can't figure it out.

Maybe Im missing something but why can you only rematch only like 1/10th of the time in Ranked?

You can only rematch in player, you might have accidentally went into there.

To further clarify, you can only rematch in player if you fight a random. If you invite a friend for a 1 on 1 lobby, you can't instant rematch and need to return to the lobby and repick characters, because this game is a gigantic clusterfuck of stupid design decisions in every single area outside of the pure gameplay.

There are definitely some significant points being made here, however this was made before Wong blew up the spot. The first real big tournament didn't have Sentinel in the finals. Marn said he was going to quit MvC3 because Wong was so much better than him. In general you can't really trust Marn to articulate a solid opinion, despite being a top-tier player. So anyway we got at least one dominate player. This shows distance between the good and bad(which measures how deep a game is). We will see how things change come Evo. It could get worse.

I think one thing is telling though: NO ONE LIKES LEVEL 3 X-FACTOR.

As far as huge damage and easy combos go, I wouldn't be surprised if because of that, pound for pound MvC2 will be the better game(or maybe MvC3 will not be an upgrade, but a "side-grade"). However sequels tend to add stuff that make them so enticing that it is hard to go back. For example this how I feel about DMC1 vs DMC3 or Halo 3 vs Reach. MvC3 has maybe my favorite cast in fighting game history. That too might change over time. (Even if Sentinel turns out to be a member of +50% of teams, he only takes up one spot. And anti-Sentinel strategies will be more popular and more developed.)

ohhh. My bad for the dumb question then.

Must be the same reason I keep hitting "arcade mode" when I fail to connect.

You don't HAVE to take the game seriously online to play it. I've played like 8 ranked matches but have probably close to 200 games played with friends, gaffers, and randoms. It's more fun to me to just play it with a mind set I had towards Super Smash Bros---focus on fun and that's all. I mean MvC3 has already had things like unblockables and infinites/loops found----clearly the game was geared to be ridiculous in the game play.

Grab that 1 month and play with fellow Gaffers who stink as well. :)

Yeah I've done it a few times too.

Morrigan is pretty money, but I find the damage on her simpler bnb's pretty low. Her funky air dashes though mess with people so bad, it's great.

Anyone have any advice for Taskmaster v Sent and Trish v Sent? Dropped a few games last night online after mopping the floor with some kid's first two characters and then proceeding to get bodied by his pretty solid xfactored Sent.

Geez, the timing for Chun-li's 10th mission was a bitch. Got X-23's and Chun-li's missions done though. Reppin' the pad!

Dormammu's 10 gave me trouble. You had to make sure on the first launch you did up and forward instead of a straight up, because when you do an assist back on the ground it won't reach fast enough unless you had gotten as close as possible up in the air. The second launch had to be up forward and delayed on the first hit or else the other parts miss.

There's some seriously weird conditions to hit some of them. :(

RE: Ranked

You dont get anything for beating/losing to a significantly higher ranked player than you, do you?

Sadly not. And win/losses also don't matter ( but they do to me personally :p ).

This! Quit worrying about what pros say, you'll never get there! Have fun or dealwithit.gif.

87 hours playtime on 5 days :lol

Such a good fucking game, oh god.

Nah, I just did the math. It is not healthy for ya o_o
Anyways, I am still horrible at this game. Finding Viper again, maybe will use her, but now I am really annoyed at Storm low->to combo->to air combo spamming friend of mine, who demolishes my slower characters with this.

Likewise. Currently sassing Capcom and BradyGames like hell for some info. I'm getting ignored, which is always nice..

You're in the UK, right? I've ordered one from an international seller on ebay and it was apparently dispatched yesterday. It was around £20 with postage which isn't terrible I guess.

But yeah, can't find it anywhere over here for a decent price.

Yeah. I was tempted to order one off Ebay, but then I discovered that you could get it send of Amazon US for £16 with 8-16 shipping...

I'm still raising hell on principle. Smaller games have had guides released here. The SSFIV guide was available here too. Capcom and BradyGames have been going on for months about how good this guide is, then I ask about it and it's as if it doesn't exist. You shouldn't have to go to such lengths to find one..

£40 off Amazon UK is fucking nuts.

Ah right, I'm pretty impatient and this seller was offering 2 day delivery so I just went with that. I've used Amazon.com before though and not had any problems.

Just found out Taskmaster works pretty well against the Dante plague, especially the crazy flailing ones that jump forward. Just tested this myself and task's counter hyper worked everytime. On Zero too since he's pretty much an up close character.

Has anyone counted their "Failed to join game session" messages? Whats the record?

I just hit 27 before getting a game
I've never had one.

Just put on Fight Req. in arcade or practice. I usually never complete the first CPU match due to how many online fight requests I keep getting. All good connections too.

This is what I did in SSFIV as well.

Translated to understandable notation: L(ight), M(edium), H(ard), S(pecial), [hold up to super jump to the opponent], jumping M, Jumping H, qcf (quarter circle forward, fireball motion) + L, (this takes you back to the ground), H, S, jumping M, Jumping M, Jumping H, qcf+H, guns super.

Just say no to Japanese notation.

Yep. It's not "D", it's "S". And got I hate number notation. Keep that shit in Guilty Gear!

Sure, but you the damage you take from block all the XFC lvl3 stuff is way out of whack. No one's saying Sentinel should be damaging, but the current level is absurd and goes a long way to allowing those situations to happen.

Half the time I just get a "Connection has been lost"

Quite frankly i feel that the entire online part should be scrapped and restarted in Super MVC3.

I think we will probably not get a super version although this game actually needs it.

I was actually using Sentinel when I first got the game and had my fair share of comeback wins with Xfactor, but have recently switched to Haggar (along with The Hulk and Dormammu). I will agree that Xfactor level 3 is way too crazy, and not just for sentinel.

Just today I experienced multiple occasions of 3 of my characters being destroyed by Xfactor level 3 Hulk with his basic bunches. The Hulk barely hand any life left and managed to heal and destroy my team (though they are all around half life or less per character). Also remembered a Xfactor level 3 Wesker who was great at teleporting and had all 3 of my characters destroyed by his pokes near the end.

Though it does add another level of strategy when I play, as now I try to take out the character I am scared of the most during a level 3 Xfactor. Of course, I cannot complain too much about the Xfactor, as it has saved my ass on multiple occasions as well. ;P
