Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Whoever did the Reversible UMVC3 cover art should NOT come back.

This is just WAY too much

Anyone else hoping they don't bring back button mashing supers for extra damage? As a casual player who plays on pad, I hated that they added it to UMvC3 after not having it in vanilla.

At least that was just the reversible cover.

This shit on the other hand was the main cover for Vanilla MVC3.

"DUR I'M GONNA KILL YOU IRON MAN"

The idea of the cover is good, but yeah the execution not so much. Forgot all about that bad cover, because I got the special edition. Now that was ace.

Mashing M and H yes. They should definitely remove it lol, makes playing so damn loud.

I'll use this new found knowledge, but yeah it needs to go.

Yeah, I could imagine him having a feather projectile.

The main reason why I thought of him was because of Spider-Man Homecoming. I'd like to think Spidey's gallery has much more capable villains than him. Niitsuma had said the only other villain they would've been able to use (after Ock was scrapped) was Lizard. I hope we don't have a situation like that here. Shocker's cool, but doesn't seem like a good pick for MVC.

I don't think the movie will have much impact. I'm more worried about Sony's game getting exclusive use of one or more.

I can't believe the timing. They're probably going to release really close, so Marvel might be strict.

I could see Oliver Coipel doing a good job with the Capcom characters. For reference, here's one of Coipel's most recent covers for Marvel.

My only issue with this is how small She-Hulk's legs are (likely a fuck-up in terms of drawing her depth in the image).

Actually, that's David Marquez.

There is a whole generation of gorgeous 2D & perfected pixel art that Capcom has largely abandoned, since going fully 3D with most of their IP. It's a real fucking shame.

Played the hell out of MVC3, but never like faux comic book inks aesthetic. Infinite seems to have done away with that, so that's a step forward I guess. Although I wish they'd follow Arc System Works' lead with their visual presentation.

Esad Ribic needs to do the cover easily the best artist for the job.
Those are gorgeous.

If anyone has any concerns about Alex Ross drawing weirder characters, I'd say that he has a good handle on the likes of Rocket.

As for Groot, you can blame Bendis for his weird-ass design.

I do like me some grabbag rosters. Marvel:
1. Iron Man
2. Captain Marvel
3. Captain America
4. Hulk
5. Black Widow
6. Doctor Strange
7. Black Panther
8. She-Hulk
9. Spider-Man
10. Thor (Jane Foster version, ha!)
11. Rocket Raccoon
12. Squirrel Girl
13. Kingpin
14. Medusa
15. Ant-Man
16. Doctor Octopus
17. Mephisto
18. Ms. Marvel
19. Wiccan
20. Hela

I have no idea what's up with newer Capcom games, but they should definitely dig up Vanessa Z. Schneider from P.N. 03 with her flamboyant moves.

I always enjoyed mashing for extra damage. The one thing that was cool about the older games was that you could get different animations (ie Nash's Sonic Break) or longer animations the more you mashed. In UMVC3, it just gave more damage, which was still pretty cool.

I'd love for it to return in Infinite with the longer animations like the older games.

^ I think current Capcom is Monster Hunter....Resident Evil...Ace Attorney....and...uh.....*shrugs*

Would Schneider constantly be moving like in PN.03?

Current Capcom is Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Street Fighter, MvC, Monster Hunter, Ace Attorney, and Sengoku Basara (and Dragon's Dogma if you count Dragon's Dogma Online along with the recent PC release of Dark Arisen). In fact, most of these franchises have yearly releases or close to it.

Ugh.

Pretty sure this has killed at least one of my controllers over the past 5 years. It adds nothing of value.

Agh, I did forget a lot...thanks

Seems weird Marvel is going to include x-men in this game but have confirmed they are elimating them from all comics / all other forms of franchising, toys etc due to trying to smother fox in a fight to get the rights back for x-men and fantastic 4.

Didn't see them ever confirm it. Or acknowledge it in any way. Link?

And no, they're not eliminating them from the comics...Ressurxion is coming out in 2017. Its more of the other forms of media that they appeared to be banning them

I dunno, I follow comic news a bit and seen it on a lot of sites. Seems a lot of back and forth over the franchise so who knows now.

Google marvel eliminating xmen

Yeah, I don't see any official statements and Ressurxtion proves they're not stopping with the Xbooks.

What I see

Moviepilot article....not reliable or trustworthy
i09 from a year ago
Nerdist which is outdated and referencing the only x title at the time being Death of X, which isn't accurate because I believe Xmen 92 is still running because it was so popular in secret wars like Renew Your Vows was.

Yeah, all I'm seeing is outdated speculation about Death of X actually being the last X title...which isn't true because of Ressurxtion

Ugh.

I think it's because it gives me flashbacks of the old Arcade days. There's just something about mashing like a maniac that makes it enjoyable. There were times when I mashed as hard as I could during Dante's Million Dollars and I'd end up getting enough damage to barely finish the opponent.

Compared to the games before UMVC3, mashing was a lot harder. You had to do it a lot harder and faster to get all of the extra animations of damage.

Probably some comic artist, he got Mavel characters right, only screwed up Capcom's side.

No more comic artists pls, they're guaranteed to screw up Capcom characters. Just keep them for the US version of the game if you have to.

Imagine this face on Morigan... Or any character really:

It adds nothing of value from a tactical standpoint, but it does add something significant in terms of game feel. It makes the game feel more tactile and mashing on a super to get that extra pip of damage to get the kill (or mashing on pushblock to avoid being chipped out) feels really good when you pull it off.

You are right though that Marvel-style mashing tends to just destroy controllers, though. More sponsorship opportunities for Hori, Qanba and Razer. :x

I agree with Sayad, beautiful composition and colors wouldn't work if you can't nail Capcom's faces.

It seems like the only way to make the Capcom DLC is to hold off on classic VS. characters for it. I wouldn't mind if they released characters in pairs that looked something like:

Wolverine and Strider
Cyclops and Captain Commando
Psylocke and Jin
Doom and Akuma
No thanks. Let me just buy the Capcom characters (although it would probably be cheaper this way).

Leon, Wesker, Jill (MvsC2) for the triage.

Wesker as the villain, Leon representing the action and the "second" set of heroes (Leon/Claire), and Jill representing the classics. Although MvsC2 Jill would probably be somewhat similar to Frank West.
Agreed on both parts. I think Leon and Jill is the best choice. While I think classic costume Jill should be in, we already have a zombie summoning character who also represents a different unrepresented franchise.

Jin: This I'll agree with. He's basically like the VS equivalent of Captain Falcon
Not exactly. He comes from a fighting game and it would be fairly simple to adapt his moves. However Cyberbots pilot designs are better and more interesting than the mech designs. Also they weren't exactly well utilized in their own game.

I know I said this already but I find it weird that there's no artwork for this game yet.
They only have 6 characters so far, they wouldn't want the artwork to reveal more characters.

I still believe that it will be likely content in seasons. They probably will release individual characters or might do pairs of 1 Capcom 1 Marvel fighter for each content update, but I expect it fully to be like Killer Instinct.

Haggar's Rapid Fire Fist is a longer animation, with an eye shine if you mash it to maximum.
Why does this look worse than MvC3?
I have a bit of an opinion on this. I feel like the first cinematic cutscene of MvC3 was absolutely fantastic. The first gameplay footage looked very good.

The first cinematic cutscene for MvCI looks boring and low energy, no dynamic camera angles or anything. The first gameplay footage looks actually quite good.

So the gameplay of MvC3 looked worse than the cutscene, but the gameplay of MvCI looks better. It's reversed.

Yeah, mashing needs to go.

I kinda get it, but we're not playing in arcades anymore, but on our own purchased stuff.
