Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

They could use grey hair Bison from SFV.

Bison in the MVC games was the Alpha version, while the Bison from the CVS series was SF2. They could play it like that.
I'm referring to an entirely new character from SFV, much like how Crimson Viper repped SFIV in MvC3.

I think the final roster its going to be really close to this:

I love that this shirt uses what likely was the inspiration for Iron Fist's winner screen pose in UMVC3.

Karnak would be....uh...interesting. Would they have the opponent have glowing spaces where he could hit them for extra damage?

That's Karnak, by the way

He could stomp on the ground and fling up a chunk of the ground which he could punch as a projectile or create a wall, he could have attacks that cause a crumple state...

With the orb cut off from his head, he looked like Green Arrow so I had a lot of trouble trying to figure it out lol. Thanks.

No idea whether to ask in this thread or the other MvC:I thread but when should we expect the next reveals? Doubt it'll be until the new year but are there any events that it could happen at?

I know, but it isn't a given that they'll go that route this time around. Rashid is the most Marvel character to include, but then you have guys like Necalli who could be included. If they make it in Infinite, hopefully it's down the line and not in the base roster.

If SF gets at least 3 initial reps, I don't see any newcomer beating out Akuma.

If I may ask, any particular reason why you feel that way?

On the subject of Namor, I'd really like him. Trident attacks, flying attacks, water based stuff or summoning Atlantean warriors. Maybe a super where he uses the Horn of Proteus to summon Giganto. I've heard people say that his legal rights, at least video game wise, have been cleared up, though I haven't seen any articles about it though. A lot of people seem to think he's tied to the FF stuff, though he's not since he came way before them, but his non-comic rights issues are a lot weirder. Still out of Marvel's three king heroes (Black Panther and Black Bolt being the other two) I think he would end up having the coolest moveset.

Thinking of Namor though reminds me of the original Human Torch, Jim Hammond. I wonder if he has any sort of shot.

Oh yeah, that shirt posted earlier with all the classic panels bugs me so much. I mean, I really do like Karnak, but if their going to throw him on that thing but not include X-Men or Fantastic Four characters is just off putting, but its been like that for a while now.

But at the same time, Namor's also the First Mutant & his movie rights are all over the place. It's likely that he's off-limits until maybe DLC, otherwise more post-CoC games would have used him.

Yeah, shit like that has been happening for around 2 years now.

UMvC3 has such an incredible roster. There are legitimately only four or five characters that I would consider expendable between both companies, so every cut is going to hurt.

I definitely agreed with you there. I had a hard time to figure out who should make in MVC:I roster in term of prediction. I can't really cut so many good characters from both sides because they really provided a lot of different mechanism and unique gameplay/moveset. I would able to see like four to seven expendable characters that could be replaced.

I already prepared myself for the worst in term of characters being cut. I don't think few of my favorite characters would survive the cutting board.

I'm actually totally fine with MVCI reusing assets from MVC3 (as we see with 5 of 6 characters from the trailer). Just means they can spend more time on newer or returning characters that weren't in MVC3.

That's why I really hope for the best on term where the company wisely reuses assets from UMVC3 so they could bring back a lot of veterans, along with interesting newcomers they are coming up with. I personally hope that they would able to push the numbers toward to 40 if they could within their power.

But no Gene makes it incomplete...

Blame upper heads in Capcom for rushing them to release the game sooner. They literally cut 8 characters just in order to do it.

Ehh, no.

Who do you thinks could replace Dr. Doom? I can see characters like Kang The Conqueror as a really good replace for Doom.
Kang would be great. However, I think his movie license is with Fox, so his chances are very slim.

However, it'd be great to have a time traveler that could summon attackers from across time.

After seeing more and more commercials lately for FX's Legion airing in February, I think Legion would make a pretty cool addition (if the whole X-Men via DLC thing is happening). The dude has the kind of power that could make him a final boss character, plus he has KOF Benimaru hair. :) Crossing my fingers for this guy in particular.

Put in sentry.

We usually don't agree on much, but in this case?

HELL YEAH. There's a dark part of me that would love to see a super paying homage to when he ripped Carnage apart, even though I know something like that would never happen in any shape or form.

I need some leaks. I can't wait bruh.

Have Capcom talked about any characters they considered for UMvC3 outside of Gene, X, and Ultimate Spider-Man?

Dr. Octopus was supposed to be in.

Black Panther and Blade were considered for Ultimate.

I remember Niitsuma wanted J. Talbain there.

Polygon reported Ant-Man and Groot as possibilities, and we know that the MCU is a large part of it, so take what you will from that.

I wish we would have gotten something, if not characters, if not silhouettes, then at least artwork of the confirmed ones.

The reveal seems sloppy. Maybe they were rushed to get to PSX.

It does seem that way. More than likely Sony payed for the game to be there, which seems especially likely with the timed exclusive UMVC3.

Oh, I don't doubt that much at all.

When characters like X seem so unfinished (to the point of not even having voice actor clips implemented), that should be a tip off right away that this was a rushed reveal where they wanted to just do more to a) confirm the game's existence and b) get X out there in front RIGHT AWAY so that they could cut off "WHERE'S MEGA MAN?!" talk before it can even get a chance to start.

For it to have been something that they likely had to do very quickly, it did its job. But the more proper reveal will hopefully be much more on Marvel and Capcom's terms.

Groot is just Log Trap.

I could see Groot Trap instead of log trap.

Although I could see Groot playing a bit like Nemesis with tons of brutal ramming and armor on everything

. Maybe a move where he summons little moving plants sorta like amingo, maybe he could construct a wall of wood like Aganos...maybe a razor-leaf esque projectile...

possibly a healing super and dark phoenix style resurrection .

he could also have a move where he creates thorny vines around the stage as a trap.

Do want.

Only two Marvel games use three characters, three if you count Marvel 3 as seperate games. That leaves XvSF, MSHvSF and MvC and they all worked the same as the three character games. I believe it's safe to assume that MvC:I will likely feature the same style of 'round' system
nothing about this screams safe to assume. I'll wait and see. The gems being an x-factor replacement might hint at you being right, but the tag system also hints at you being wrong (since that's more in line with xtekken). Will wait and see

I genuinely hope you're right because you know what? This is a really awesome roster for the Marvel side. There's very few complaints I'd have (I'd axe Red Skull, Zemo and Karnak for some more interesting characters, like Thanos or Songbird, and bringing back She-Hulk). But I'd take that roster in a heartbeat.

We can only have a perfect roster if we get 64 characters.

...unless they mess up and give us extra reps for specific groups. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)‎

Random: But I would be happy with C. Viper if Captain Commando was also in. Since you know... They're using the same equipment. Kek

I just think this is the year of Black Widow vs. Crimson Viper.

I mean just look at their names. This is fate.

Honestly, if we were to somehow get an 80+ character roster I don't think that many SF or MM characters would be that unreasonable....

Then again this whole roster is obviously unreasonable as a whole, lol.

I honestly would think Capcom wouldn't pull that. But that's just my crazy thinking. Lol

Needs more Nero, Tessa/Leo, Hayato/June, Jedah, etc.

I just think this is the of Black Widow vs. Crimson Viper.

C. Viper > Black Widow

Eh, I'd have to be the one to disagree here. To be fair, MvC3's roster ended up being undermined by the fact that TvC came first, and already gave me the likes of Viewtiful Joe, Frank and Zero, so it was already going to be a hard sell for me to "wowed" all over again.

But with no Spider-Man villains, too many mutants, not much from Cosmic-level Marvel, middling Darkstalker picks (sorry, Lei-Lei fans...) and no "what should have been slam dunk" picks like Gene, X or Jon Talbain, my enjoyment from the roster pretty much came entirely from Team DMC, Super Skrull, Firebrand and Rocket Raccoon.

So with that said, anything that Infinite stands to do to shake things up a bit, and even jettison a few things, if necessary, is just fine by me.
I appreciate MvC3 and TvC's roster for the simple fact that they both gave some shine to Capcom series/sub-series that had either yet to be properly represented or, didn't have much of a presence (GnG, Gargoyle's Quest, Megaman X, Final Fight, Onimusha, Bionic Commando, Rival Schools, SFIII, etc.) I do agree that TvC had more hardcore crowd pleasers on that front, though. The only Capcom picks in Marvel 3 to really get me excited the same way was Phoenix Wright, Wesker and Firebrand.

Marvel side was dope just for Nova alone. Still can't believe my boy Rich made it to a Vs. game.

I really hope the presentation is as good as UMvC3's. I loved the comic book aesthetic that game had, but I remember Vanilla 3 being kind of barebones and generic looking.

I assume you're talking about the HUD, right?

I dunno, I liked it. It was a nice throwback to MVC2's design, both the life gauges and the CSS.

Looking at it now, I liked how the selected characters on each side are presented as a comic book cover.

I don't really like the life gauges in UMVC3, they look too zany and goofy looking. I prefer the more simple and clean look in MVC2/Vanilla MVC3.

HUD, the menus, the character select, and the post-victory screen. All that was super slick and stylish in Ultimate.
