Respect to you, but I heard that GAF moderators only change bans if you leak information on how Dormammu plays in MvCi, along with what the Life Gem does.
 
Damn he got banned over one small detail, after giving us half the roster. He should get unbanned he created hype for the some who were following infinite closely. #freeryce
 
This is pretty shitty, Ryce had so much correct information that was divergent from other leaks or shit people made up. He even leaked the game and key details about it. Nothing about his posting or leaks was malicious either, and it's sad to see details about the game changing as they do in development (especially when it comes to things like fighting game mechanics which have to counterbalance each other). I get that they need a strict policy on fake leaks to stop people from spreading bullshit, but that doesn't accommodate a real possibility of things changing across development, which happens dramatically to fighting games too (just look at MvC3 and airdashes for example). At that, he was verified by mods and validated by reveals. Now one part of a game changes during development and he heats the dirt? That sucks.

I feel bad because I was looking for something else while I found the quote about the gem and requoted it which probably perked the mods ears' to it, and got him banned.

Honestly, this is an admirable move on your part.

But I'd hate to see you get banned as well. Hopefully they can understand that things change.

Edit: What if somebody got banned for saying Frank was in MvC3 or Octavius was in UMvC3?

Let's not make a thread. This isn't some case of a mod abusing their authority, they did what they believed to be correct.

Instead, we should all PM mods to find out who it was, ask them to share their reasoning behind the ban and plead on behalf of Ryce. No need to make this some sort of public display.
 
I hope leveled up Frank is toned down in this game because it seems ridiculously easy to get him leveled up now. It was really too easy in 3 as well.
 
I'm sure he'll get his ban lifted, he clearly is a reputable source and rumors always should be taken with a grain of salt.
 
Yeah I'm at work at the moment but I'll definitely try to get in contact with somebody and hopefully clear some things up when I get home.
 
Ryce was also pretty transparent that his info was old and things probably have changed over time (i.e. Ant-Man), as they generally do.

Ultimately feels wrong that even if the end result is incongruent (and in the extreme minority of time that it was; like what was he doing, making *that* accurate guesses that also looked like none of the other wishlists or leaks?), someone gets banned for providing insight into development and things out of their control that will likely change changing. Especially when they were verified by mods.

To the GAFers reading this: I don’t want Saikyo or anyone else who’s shared stuff with me to take the fall for this. It was my decision alone to post the info. I had just assumed there’d be some leniency for miscommunication when the majority of what I posted was accurate.

I don't see how inspiring people to knee-jerk about an incomplete roster leak helps the consumer.

There's a reason companies prefer to reveal info on their own time frame. Because they'll reveal things IN CONTEXT.

it's cool and honorable for you to step up for what you feel was your mistake. Ryce, i'm sure knew the risk and you shouldn't feel too bad for his banning. IMO the perma-ban is a little too harsh but who knows what pressures(if any) Capcom put on NeoGaf. Hopefully NeoGAF will remove the hard ban for a softer one with a strict warning if/when Ryce is allowed to return. If anything Ryce brought alot of traffic and attention to the NeoGaf website.
I will miss his posts and hope the best come out of this situation.

That's definitely not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about communication about the game in general. We can all agree the marketing for this game has been an absolute mess.
 
Anyway, Capcom needs to show off something in the next 20 mins. How many more events do they have to show off the game before launch? In hindsight they really messed up at Evo.
