That's because that franchise isn't dead.

Not for lack of trying: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1417424

On serious note, I forget that they were out. I guess I will pick them up soon when I can. I have been itching to replay the franchise.

They ain't gonna fix shit and people will convince themselves it looks better because they mentioned a patch. Good plan by Capcpom.

While most of the Marvel faces are decent (with two or so exceptions, such as Cap & unmasked Iron Man), I'd imagine that correcting them would mean going through a ton of red tape involving Marvel Entertainment.

Look at the post above yours.

It's not even about the game, they were specifically saying that Chun looks better and "maybe she got a little upgrade?" when in fact it was the same old Chun and she still looked bad even on a stage with much better lighting.
Everyone everywhere was saying this. Not just Yipes and co. GAFers in this thread and outside this thread too.

See: sixteen-bit's post.

Yup.

I can't blame them for it, even I thought that maybe she looked a little different but it was indeed the lighting. They've already had the same issue with SFV Ken who looks great in-game but at the character select screen looks like a serial flasher.

Oh yeah, I noticed something the other day - unless it was brought up somewhere else, Capcom never mentioned a day one patch. In this video he says the improvements will be there "day one, in the game, when it ships".

I think this might be a case of one person mishearing, then a bunch of people falsely reporting based on that? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Day one in the game, or through a day one patch it's pretty much the same thing these days.

I thought (and posted the same thing) too after E3. The lighting affected everything.

Daredevil vs Phoenix Wright seemed so obvious :(

There's always DLC I guess...

On a unrelated but related note, this new No Man's Sky update looks super meaty. That game looks night and day compared to when it launched (in the sorry state it did mind you), and yet many (most?) of the detractors still go "lol NMS wait for $5" or something similar.

You really cant overcome a botched launch these days (hell, you dont even have to go far from home on this one, just look at Capcom's own SF5) so I guess it's a matter of, will the game do well enough during the botch launch (which, let's be honest here, MvCI will have) to warrant long term support, banking on the people that bought it and continue to play it instead of banking on long term sales.

Like, what will Infinite look like in 1 year you know? I'm not saying this escuses anything or mkes it better or worse to buy it, just random thoughts looking at that NMS update.

Speaking of, I might finally grab NMS lol (its cheap enough on humble it seems)

Plot twist : there is no further trailers. There will only be comic book covers.
Not really what you're talking about but
I'd like more comic covers, actually. Even in-game. Have collection mode have a solo comic cover for each character DLC or base like how you collected comic covers in Spider-man ps1.

All I want at this point is something more creative than red and blue rectangles for the character select screen. I've already given up on a lot of other stuff.

I think even a font change in type and size would make the character select screen look better

Maybe change "Select Characters" back to "Select Your Heroes" in the style of MVC1 or something. Or maybe the words in the Marvel or Capcom logo font or something

I'm thinking 10 would be a safe bet to start with more to come as more characters come through.

What have we got right now?

XGard
Throne Room
Avengers Tower
KnowMoon
Valkanda
AIMBrella

New Metro City is probably coming; possibly a transplant of the Chris stages in the demo; a training stage and maybe a DS stage are my bets.

Confirmed
XGard
Throne Room
Avengers Tower
KnowMoon
Valkanda
AIMBrella
New Metro City

Guesses:
Kazakh/(maybe Xandar?)(comic cover)
Williamette/??? (Comic Cover)
Aensland Castle and Dark Dimension (possible Demon world)
some SF stage or 2
another Darkstalkers stage with Shuma gorath involved
perhaps an alternate Monster Hunter and Wakanda stage
second stage in AIMBrella

I'd say at least 2-4 of these

As long as the game reviews well & has a decent amount of content at launch (the latter seems to be the case, with lack of Day 1 content being one of the main reasons for SFV's botched launch), I feel like MvCI will be okay in the long-term. If the content isn't there at launch for whatever reason, then they may have a problem. The game still has to overcome much of the pre-launch negativity, but good reviews may help with that.

I expect the launch to be similar to SFV. Which didn't have a lot of bad reviews. But the word of mouth built for so long it ultimately impacted it. While story mode was a complaint, I doubt it at launch would've saved the game.

Had it launched with arcade mode, 80% of the casuals that hate it would not have grumbled. It is the one mode they really play, They would have waited for story and played arcade, but having only survival and online was the deal breaker for them.
