Instead of panic buying groceries my wife and I hit the dispensary and liquor store. Time to try and forget this week for a while. Have a great night GAF! ❤️

Man... the media is so fucking annoying when it comes to anything Trump.

A subsidiary of Alphabet (with lots of volunteer engineers from the wider Alphabet group, including Google) is working on a triage website that will first be rolled out for testing in the Bay Area with plans to expand from there. Trump referred to this group as "Google."

Headline: "Contrary to Trump’s claim, Google is not building a nationwide coronavirus screening website"

These people just cannot help themselves to point out any inaccuracy, no matter how small, when it comes to Trump. Always going for that gotcha.

Why shouldn't they point out the constant inaccuracies in so much of what he says? He made it sound like there was a nationwide rollout of the screening website. In a crisis like this the majority of the public look to their leaders for information, they heard this incorrect information and will he expecting this to happen, only to find out it is just in the Bay area. Instead of being upset with the ones correcting him maybe you should be upset with the president of the country feeding inaccurate information to the public?

Will you also be admonishing Google for correcting the wrong information Trump put out?

This virus situation reminds me of when there is a horrible snow storm on the horizon and people are losing their minds. But for me there is something very liberating about the whole ordeal, like the daily grind and routine that we are all bound to is about to be disrupted in the worst way and there is nothing you can do about it. Just sitting there calmly and being at peace with it all is probably the closest I get to feeling truly free.

Funny thing is that the Chinese are not panic buying toilet paper and never did even at the start of the outbreak. It's the most bizarre thing for people to latch onto for panic buying in western countries.

Japan panic bought toilet paper when the virus first broke out there. So it isn’t just the west.

Trump is a shitshow and the only reason they stomach it is because he doesn't have a D next to his name.
Hey the dems are the same... clinton and biden are garbage tier and they just obliterated the guy who was actually half exciting to see run.

But fuck it we live in the dark ages of partisanship or death so...

Fellow American users, do you support the idea that U.S would adapt dramatic measures like Italy or Wuhan to quarantine the large cities like NYC/Seattle and states to ligate the virus if we encounter similar or worse situation like Italy?
(On the side note, China locked down Wuhan and Hubei and issue nationwide quarantine after maybe nearly 2 months since the earliest case report in early December, Italy enforced lock-down after one month since first confirmed cases reported in Jan 31th.)

Oh don't get it twisted, I totally agree. One side is no better than the other, partisanship has created a toxic environment for this shitshow to brew. This is all bordering on derailing the thread and I don't intend to do that.

The point of me replying to the other post was I found it absolutely insane to think that someone would complain about a publication correcting yet another piece of misinformation put forth by the friggin President of the United States.

Just mind boggling to think that we should just deal with incorrect information. What a dangerous train of thought, the desire to just deal with it because one is sick of the information constantly being corrected? What?

The economic damage alone will probably cause more harm then the actual virus itself.

We have no idea what this is going to do to the economy in the long run. In the end we could end up with a few thousand dead, but millions could possibly go homeless or be on the verge of it.

You can't just shut everything down without consequences. Just because there's a coronavirus going on doesn't mean the bills stop coming.

Okay I know what it looks like at Rush Hour in that place because I've been stupid enough to attempt going home around that time. But for those who never been there during that time this video is not convincing I don't think. That is still a hell of a lot of people for most little towns.

My guess is Brazil's President
Hubei held "Thousand Families' Banquet" in Wuhan one week before lock-down. 01/18
Italy held annual Milan Fashion Week in Milan 2 weeks before lock-down 02/24
Spain held Women's Day March with thousands of people one week ago and now thousands of cases reported daily. 03/08
California held LA International Marathon with 27000 people last Sunday. 03/08 (and many clustered political rallies by both parties)

And Brazil just held nationwide carnival in late February, if the top officials in the nation also got infected, the situation of spread in general public would be extremely horrible.

Also some ignorant fucks supporting the president are going to the streets on the 15th to show Bolsonaro support. He actually asked live on Facebook for people to not do it, but some idiots are still going.

This fucking country.

My work went WFH for 2 weeks. It's going to be a wild spring.

Pro-tips for working from home for anyone without experience of it from an expert:

Answer Emails as quickly as you can, turn that email notification sound up real loud. (So people think you are working at your desk)

Put your laptop in your bedroom, at 9am reply to any emails you've received overnight, then go back to sleep. You don't need to reply quickly to any reply emails until you are ready to actually wake up.

If there is a conference call set up, BE THERE, BE ONTIME. guranteed other people wont so you'll look good and they'll probably reschedule for the missing people anyway.

Save some bullshit fluff Emails until the end of the working day before sending them. It does not matter what they are or if they have any importance, they just exist to show you were "working" until the end of your shift.

Abuse your works expenses policy. You need a printer, ink cartridges, paper or other office supplies? Expense that shit, hey depending on policy you can expense your food as you are on a "Business trip" which will be something like 2 meals a day X$.

Sit back, relax, watch movies, play games but above all be sure you can hear that email notification sound.

but seriously wtf is going on with Spain?
I could swear they reported alredy but I think my days are starting to melt into each other now

https://english.elpais.com/society/...t-mass-numbers-despite-coronavirus-fears.html

The socialist/communist/feminist government decided to go ahead with the eight of March (women's day) demonstrations. Tens of thousands of people all over the country marching with banners, chanting feminist slogans and shit.

The number of infected and dead are gonna skyrocket the next few days (they already are)

Without containment measures millions would become infected, so you could end up with hundreds of thousands dead, not just a few thousand.

How did they correct the wrong information? They confirmed that Google engineers and an Alphabet subsidiary are working on a website with the government for triaging... That sure sounds like a website being worked on by Google to me. Now, if we get to Sunday night or even next week and they still don't have any follow up on this website, I'll be fine with calling them on their bullshit, but as of now, it just looks like a lot of nitpicking nonsense to me.

I was working from the road 75% of the time before the virus so I am good. I also actually do real work so no advice needed here.
