I actually think the mortality rate of this virus is probably 1% or lower. It's around 3.5-4% right now based on the total # of confirmed cases. We're not doing enough testing to know the true number of cases and on top of that there are many people who are asymptomatic to this virus and will show no signs, so they'll never get tested and still transmit the virus to others. For all we know the total # of people infected could be 400-500k or more right now.

While the mortality rate is low, the hospitalization rate is high. In the US, so far 20% of all those infected have to be hospitalized. Of those, 40% are young people under 50. If 20% of the entire population had to go to the hospital at the same time, the health care system would collapse increasing the mortality rate.

Things are starting to circulate on twitter that the US might soon be implementing some type of a nationwide lockdown involving a military presence. PLEASE note that these could be false rumors and total bullshit, but I live in PA and a friend of mine is a cop and he texted me today and told me that they got word today that a secure in place policy will be implemented here very soon, within the next few days and the national guard is deploying.

I expect Americans to do the right thing. And limit contact. Arresting people isn't a good way to go about it. But closing all non-essential businesses will keep most people home.

I think the majority will stay home because in reality there isn't much to do when everything is closed but I just have a hard time believing a majority of Americans are t going to go against this if it happens.

Worryingly, there was a spike (as in from single to double digits) in confirmed cases in regions other than Daegu and the surrounding area. Hopefully it's just this batch of tests.
They're going to enact mandatory checks on people coming in from anywhere in Europe, and they're going to hold off on tax audits and tax collection for small and mid-sized enterprises.

My cousin had a bad bout of pnemonia and basically it sounds like this. Either you luck out and don't get bad sysmptoms or you get screwed and need assisted breathing.

I mean... of course. They don't have a vaccine and there's no way they reached a critical mass of infections and recoveries already to develop herd immunity, so you can't just go back to normal and expect it to not start/keep spreading again.
