I'm not supporting protests either. I'm sure they can use twitter for that.
It just seems really unnecessary to go to a place full of people to pray, during a pandemic, they are basically asking to get infected or think faith is a virus shield.
I'm sure they can cast their Holy Father spells at home, read the bible entries and sing, and if they need a sermon with some morality they can talk to an older relative that will give them one without they even asking.
If it's about the donations, the church can create a PayPal account, all they need is an email address.

I don't have a fight to put up or anyone to defend, in this case Trump. I don't know if you don't want to understand it or if you just can't. My bone to pick with trump is the fact that he refuses to unite and actually lead the country when we NEED a leader clearly. I dont need any proof to back that up its obvious for us all to see. I agree with you, but you can't just blame this on Trump. The whole political climate in the United States is as poisonous as it's ever been. I'm sure you'll agree that this was the case even before the coronavirus and neither Republicans nor Democrats are any different here. It's just the whole situation and this really extreme black and white thinking in the US. Either you're left or you're right. If you are somewhere in between, like most of the population, then both political parties try to draw you to their sides with fabricated stories, lies and their own narratives. Nobody has the guts anymore to admit mistakes or at least try to find a reasonable compromise. Trump and the extreme left Democrats are a product of these times.

If the Republicans are for A, then the Democrats are for B. If the Democrats are for A, then the Republicans are for B. Both sides are fighting only with extremes and there is no middle ground anymore.
Trump could have done a lot better with the coronavirus. He did get a few things right, though. The states in the U.S. decide themselves what measures they take or if they do a lockdown. In terms of cases and death rates, Democratic states are at least as miserable as Republican ones. But that doesn't make me say that Democrats are doing worse with the virus. It would be nice if it were that simple, but it's not.

I can only speak for Portland but before the feds showed up we had like 100 or less showing up every night. Now that they are gone like last night the #s are dwindling again, its also outside and 99.99% wear masks. Still not ideal I get that but we can't just lock down forever and abolish 1st amendment right correct? Churches on the other hand nationwide would be astronomical #s congregating inside and vast majority with no social distancing or masks. The comparison is trash and you know it, if churches cared they would try to hold service within the guidelines but just like we saw with the crazy religious group in portland they held a huge event with virtually no masks or distancing, and thats the problem.

Yeah I mostly agree with this. Politicians are always going to be sleazy politicians but the buck HAS to stop at the top and trump shows time and time again he only cares about himself. He has proven he has no clue how to lead and Americans are dying because of it. Luckily here in Oregon we are good, even with protests outside with masks on for 80 days we still doing good minus some work place outbreaks that keep popping up. Just have to keep doing what we are doing through the fall, cant let up now. Kate brown gets alot of hate but she has done an awesome job. Not the end of the world as long as we can man up and do what needs to be done.

But there's less wiggle room and more exaggeration for the question about number of COVID deaths. Here the estimates are at least 100 times as high as the number of actual deaths in these five countries, with public opinion 225 times too high in the US and 300 times too high in Germany.

There was a study a long time ago that said the same thing. superspreaders account for 80% of the spread, and only 30% of infected have secondary transmission.

You westerners live in March/April. Asian countries are moving on with life. The fact that Thailand is mostly back to normal after one of the shortest partial lock downs with only a 58 people death toll shows that even if Thailand underreported deaths, the fact that they could do so without much scrutiny shows how easily numbers can be fudged in all of this.

This is the "Free World/Romance Language Virus". Countries not belonging to that global group are miraculously spared.

Cambodia: 0 dead, less than 300 cases

Vietnam: 0 dead for months, now I believe just a few people

Thailand: the #1 epicenter of Chinese tourism in Asia, and the 1st country out of mainland China to have confirmed cases back in January...58 people dead. Total confirmed cases a few thousand.

Now just look at most of Africa. Big shocker, South Africa has high cases and deaths but the rest of the entire continent is spared.

Indonesia: 137k cases, +2345 new cases, +50 new deaths.

So, its still going on.

When it comes to both Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand:

Cambodia: ranks 172nd in the world for tests per 1m pop (4,695)
