Mass Effect 2 'Arrival' DLC

Great, I love me some Mass Effect 2, won't be buying it on day one though, they 10 dollars for what probably will be 2 hours of gameplay is steep for me.

It's been a year since ME2... are we getting a GOTY edition with all the DLC yet? I think one may be announced soon after this DLC drops.

Can't wait for more Mass Effect 2 goodness. I really liked the combat in ME2, but hopefully this will have less shooting than in the other DLCs.

I'd lol if everyone who survives the suicide mission is killed off in this DLC so that Mass Effect 3 could start with a blank slate.

That would make me rage so hard. Now I fear that this might be the case....:(

If they take Miranda and Mordin from me...

Interestingly enough, today is also a date mentioned in Cerberus Daily News in January.

The mixed media showcase of krogan creative works, “One in a Thousand,” opened last night at Illium’s prestigious Municipal Institute of Art. As krogan history is often viewed by others as violent and tragic, the art display challenges viewers to rethink their established views on krogan culture. Dr. Alissa Banser, the institute’s program coordinator, explains: “We wanted to explore different aspects of the krogan people, from the dark to the sublime. We hope to inspire debate on the very nature of how we define ‘art’.” Some early reviews have hailed Dr. Banser as courageous; others call the showcase “exploitative” and “in poor taste,” noting that few, if any, of the show’s pieces were created by krogan artists. The showcase is on display until (Earth standard date) February 21.

:O
Coincidence? I think... yes, probably.

It's either now or at the beginning of ME3. We all knew it would happen.
It just seems like a cop out if Bio were to kill them off after all the work we put into their loyalty and job assignments on the finale. At least let the crewmates go their separate ways...

The latest patch for Mass Effect 2 PS3 is out, and in it BioWare made a whoopsie, including three new trophies for what looks to be a new DLC pack titled 'Arrival'. Big thanks to ColonelColon for the original post.

Details of the three tophies can be found below (spoilered of course), and an image of the trophy list can be seen here

Followers might remember BioWare stating that the Cerberus Daily News feed would be going offline this year, and would come back online for a couple of weeks sometime later on to hype up the arrival of the last major DLC pack. The feed is still offline, and went offline on the 24th of January. This was the last message;

"Historians and astronomers alike are abuzz tonight over a new paper published by Dr. Amanda Kenson of the University of Arcturus. Her team claims that by testing the dust trapped in the gravity wells around a mass relay, and comparing its composition to that of dust clouds in the same system, scientists can create a timeline of when the relay passed through the dust. Her conclusion? “Only a small fraction of the mass effect relays date back 50,000 years,” she writes, “The majority are far older, indicating they were created by a species predating even the Protheans.” Dr. Aurana T’Meles of the University of Serrice met the information with skepticism: “While Dr. Kenson’s methods appear sound, the asari tried a similar procedure centuries ago and discounted it. What civilization could have spanned the galaxy for not thousands, but millions of years? If this were the case, we should have found mountains of evidence of their passing. Where is this species now?"

Notice any similarities? ;)

BioWare are yet to make an official comment on this, but we can always speculate what it's about.

EatChildren you are quickly becoming my favourite here on GAF. So guess we'll finally find out how all the Reapers got back from the dark void!

I'm guessing GDC is where we'll get the official announcement

I guess this is the first response from anyone at Bioware:

This leak was probably intentional, and they are probably looking/reading this thread and smiling at how everyone is so excited.

More info as soon as I get a green light from PR and Marketing I promise! (it's a holiday here today)

The
'Sacrifice'
mentioned in the achievements could well end up being
the Normandy itself. If this is a post-game quest that leads into ME3 they could lock out the Normandy at the end and actually have it only be a NG+ at the end, like ME1. One of the things I'm most curious about is if there'll be a Normandy SR3 for ME3.

Hopefully Bioware will actually segue into ME3 with this one. The same promise was made for Mass Effect and they never really delivered, apart from introducing the Batarians.

if the Normandy isn't destroyed i don't think an SR3 would be needed.. Bioware will probably add optional upgrades with each member of the squad in Mass Effect like they did with 2

I only started playing Mass Effect (2) about 11 days ago. I have not played Masss Effect 1.

Am I the only one who is devastated that it is ending soon?

The Shepard Trilogy is ending but I doubt EA will can the universe any time soon, even though I'm sure it won't be as good.

Why are you doing this? Stop playing 2 and play 1 first man.

I'd like a ME universe sidestory following a "smaller" person. Would be awesome.

Simply put, you must play ME1 once you're done. ME2 is really better in terms of visuals, gameplay and all that technical stuff, but ME1 definitely does so much well it deserves to be played if you like the universe and characters. Glancing at your avatar, I'd liken ME1 & 2 to Uncharted 1 & 2 - the second games are great, generation-defining, must-play games. The first ones, despite being far behind, deserve to be played just as much to see where it came from, though. At least that's the case to me!

There will be other, non-Shepard games, though, I bet. And there's the books!

The one thing I want is a hardback high-quality printed Galactic Codex coffee table book. God damn.

ending as in your almost done with 2?

I need to go and re-read all the Cerberus Daily News articles because I can't get enough of the ME universe.

Really hope ME3 is just the end of Shepard but not the end of ME games ..

I'm glad they're releasing more DLC for ME2 than they did for ME1. I wonder if this is really the last piece of DLC before ME3 comes out.

I think it should be C-Sec stories, only because I like CSI and think there should be another SWAT-style game.

With such a rich universe and with how popular the games are... There will be more Mass Effect.

Hey, surprisingly enough, the one that made the discover is....another Human...actually an Asari did it first but she was dumb and couldn't see the truth unlike the superior galactic race.

Do we know how much Mass Effect 2 has sold by now? Last I read, I think only 1.6 million copies had been sold.

There will most definitely be more ME games.

In fact, the Mass Effect books (Retribution, Ascension, and Revelation) do a very good job to further the Mass Effect universe without including Shepard in the story. There's a few references to Shepard, but not many.

I'd love to see a ME game feature a non-human as the main character.
