I went with assault rifle on my Vanguard. Maybe not the best choice, but the burst-fire rifle I use is pretty good.

How are the CE/Inferno rifles?

I liked the Incisor Battle Rifle more than the Collectors'. Ammo capacity sucks, but it's so strong.

Even with everyone loyal, I don't believe there's such a thing as "works for everyone." I tried someone else's choices and suffered a seemingly random loss.

You mean the thing that happens in
The Collector Ship
? That's the exact same thing I did. My choices were Sniper, Shottie, and Assault Rifle. I kind of think it might have been smarter to go with Assault, but all through ME1, I've been dying to give that Vanguard Shepard a sniper rifle, and I couldn't deny her when she was finally given a chance to live her snipey dreams.

I think the basic choice that seems to work every time is:

Tali - vents
Garrus for both teams
Samara - biotic
Jacob - escort

Worked for me anyway.

Tali - vents
Garrus - Team 1
Miranda - Team 2
Samara - biotic
Jacob - escort

worked for me but
Jack kept dying until I picked Thane in my party ( he was the one that would respond to radio while fighting human reaper so when I put him in my last party Jack responded and she somehow survived as a result)

who knows

Weird. Someone needs to go through the scripts or something to see what's happening.

Mine too.

Cool, but kind of too much to worry about.

Kinda like real fish.

:lol

I don't think this is too much of a spoiler, but there is someone who will offer to feed your fish for you. :lol

Pancakes

hot, steaming, as melted butter slips into the cracks, drizzled with sticky sweet syrup OH GOD
Woohoo

End Spoilers

Everyone, including chambers survived :). I am ready for ME3.

So how does the collector assault rifle compare to the other assault rifles?
I don't see any stats for the guns in-game, just a generic description. :(

I should also note that at higher levels, the smoothness of the team combat really shines. To have someone rock a really powerful pull and then you incinerate them in midair. That is a special thing.

Possibly the coolest thing that happened, possibly the most role playingest RPG moment ever in a way, I was fighting my way through the Thane Recruitment Drive and I'd ended up in a room by myself, veins everywhere and a LOKIbot has the drop on me. One more shot and that is it for me.

Suddenly he is covered in blue and yanked away from me, dead.

JACK ACTUALLY SAVED MY LIFE.

It was really so amazing, that moment.

heres a small exploit for insanity playthrough.

when your team dies, just run back a few rooms until its clear, theyll spawn back near you. and you can save the medgels

Just started out 4 hours ago, and thankfully I had my save from the first game, so the story continues coherently. The graphics arent much of an improvement, but the design is very much compounded upon the original's. Loving the gameplay so far, and the story is moving along nicely, although I noticed more firefights in comparison to ME1.

I can't give you details, but from experience, here are the differences:

The Incisor: Extremely accurate, high damage short bursts, low ammo capacity and small clips.

Collectors': Large ammo capacity/clip, low damage long sprays, not very accurate.

Never used the intro one, but I assume it sucks compared to the other two.

So for my Insanity run.

NG+ Level 30 Vanguard?

Or Level 1 Infiltrator?

Level 1 Infiltrator just for variety.

Level 5 Infiltrator if you can manage it with imports.

wow, didn't know that. should've known since that tactic worked in DAO too

I suppose the reason I went with sniper is that, the assault rifle doesn't do too much that the assault/machine pistol doesn't do already. Right now the best way for me to go up against armored targets is the hand cannon, whereas my shotty and auto pistol work well against barriers/shields. With sniper AP upgrade I thought it might be a really good alternate armor piercing weapon to compliment the hand cannon. Maybe I should reload and get the assault rifle instead though, I am not very far from that spot.

I saw some people mention being a vanguard yet having an assault rifle or a sniper...when/how does that happen?

I would stick with it. I think you're right. Tactically it's not replaceable with anything else at all.

There's a certain point in the game where you can train in a weapon skill that's not available for your class.

THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!
Question regarding the Krogans..

If you killed Wrex in the first game, who is the chief Krogan dude? Some random?

Oh, and do you get more XP for higher difficulties?

ok, after dieing over and over with my 28 vanguard. ive found a decent setup for insanity

start over with 1 lvl engineer with Warp ammo and pick a sniper as your special weapon later
Mordin (incinerate) and someone with a sniper (garrus/mercenary dude)

..........and the DRONE!!! its like having a 4th party member.

i maxed it out and made it attacking. now if i throw it in, in the middle of a enemy squad they all start shooting it and then everyone else can start hammering them. and if they dont, the drone can still bring down their shields and it recharges in like 3 SECONDS !! so i can spam it as much as i want

The drone turned out to be less terrible than I expected. Still not a fan, but it'd be interesting to run around as an Engineer with Tali and Legion.

Are you saying that there are like...SIX...people I can think of to ask?

;D

It's sort of obvious... but it also only triggers if you advance far enough into the game and do the right dialogs.

That only works if they don't close off the room behind you, which they do often. Also, some points seem to have infinitely spawning enemies.

I can only think of two spots with infinite respawns, both on anomaly or side missions. Neither spawn particularly strong enemies.

They give a visual to how much of that mineral you have. You can max the green bar and still get more minerals in that spot though.

I marathoned the game so I can't remember, but Zaeed's and Garrus's missions had infinite respawns.

I'm playing an Engineer on Hardcore, for my first play through. It's awesome.

Upgrade to Combat Drone ASAP. That thing will always come through when you're getting swamped.

Engineer 4 life.

What do you think about the exploding drone? Is the Combat Drone's bonuses too good to pass up?

The majority of the game ARE side quests.

i just mean like assembling your team then fighting the collector's. i don't want to do any of my team members' quests. yet.

10 hours?

Thanks.

Only reason I ask is because I picked up me2 without having played the first one, and I blazed through me1 just to get the main story. Once I beat me2 I want to replay the first one and take my time and really enjoy the lore, and then import my character and really sink my teeth into me2.

Didn't notice them in either.

Probably the part where,
in the Garrus loyalty mission, where in the warehouse those cranes start dropping in the LOKI mechs while a couple of mercs take potshots at you from behind the crates. First time through the game, I took about fifteen minutes at that section because I waited for the mechs to stop spawning before I could move on. They never did, they only stop coming once you take out all the mercs.

I just redid the
Collector's Ship
part to test out the assault rifle. I didn't realize that it was effective against biotic barriers, shields, AND armor. Now I'm even more torn on whether I should get that or a sniper specialization :lol

For me, at least, Zaeed's mission did not have infinite respawn. I know, because I killed everyone and then carefully examined the rooms. I definitely cleared them out.

Oh, I played it paragon style, if that makes a difference.

The fuck? That's all?

I think the numbers give you a better "visual". Pfft.

I don't think sniper rifles are all that special without the Infiltrator talent, but I was a fan of the fully upgraded pistol.

Near the end, if you don't move forward to
spawn the giant mech, the trash mechs will keep spawning.

I played like a coward on insanity, so I started to notice that after 10 minutes, enemies still kept coming long after I ran out of ammo. You have to advance far enough into the level to stop the spawns from happening.

Oh yeah, there's also one at the prison ship end fight.
If you don't take out the shields, the trash enemies will keep spawning from the doors.
