So are there still anomalies/sidequests on planets that make them worth scanning (as in the game doesn't direct you to said planet, you just find it on your own) and then landing on? Or is the scanning mechanic chiefly for Ore now?

How many hours does the post Omega-4 jump stuff take? I want to know whether i can do it tonight, or save it for tomorrow evening.

That's brutal... Can anyone who experienced this please let me know if they were playing off the disc, or the hard drive? I just played that mission at home off the xbox hard drive and didn't experience and cutouts. Apologies to anyone who did... we're looking into it.

I installed and sound cut off for me. Replayed it three times and it cut out every single time.

45 minutes to an hour.

HDD install here, no sound cut off for me at all either.

I've had the sound cut out randomly (my copy is installed to my 360 HDD), but only when I'm "fast-forwarding" conversations by pressing the x button.

Mainly for ore, but there are ~20 sidequests that have you actually doing stuff on various planets, you can't miss it if you're actively scanning.

Just finished ME2.

I love it and dislike it at the same time from a gameplay point of view.

Love the improvements in the shooter aspect of the game. With the use of the Unreal engine, I pretty much call this game Gears of Effect 2. Graphics are awesome improvement.

But it's lost a lot of the RPG aspects. Little to no customizations. Very few weapons, and basically no armor (none for your squadmates too). They've place more emphasis on quality over quantity, but more variety would've been nice. And future DLC does not count in my book. I'd like to buy an actual complete game on day one, thank you very much.

The Mineral Scanning mini game sucks total ass. Really? Who thought this was going to be hours of fun when they designed it? Someone who spends all their time beach combing with a metal detector at Hawaii, that is.

Overall, I really love ME2, but it's almost a completely different game. It's an Shooter/Adventure game now. Nothing wrong with that, but I miss the RPG elements from ME1.

Yeah scanning is the primary way to find side quests (you get a few in the mail too), as soon as you scan an uncharted planet and if there's an anomaly on it Edi informs you as such. You can find star maps that open up a bunch of new galaxies too. Some side quests chain into others giving you new locations to go to and do more stuff.

When you orbit a planet and hit "start scanner", EDI will inform you instantly of an anomaly is there is one on that planet. I don't know if I'd necessarily go around hunting for them, unless you're near the end and just want to wrap things up. They're cool and all unique from each other (not just the environment, but sometimes the gameplay), but they're very rare.

Hopefully the Hammerhead DLC gives us more of that kind of thing.

This is what I did for the final mission

Legion into the vents
Zaeed escorted the survivors
Morinth made the biotic sphere
Miranda lead the next team

I then took Morinth and Miranda with me to the final fight

Everyone survived

EDIT: I started an Infiltrator and Tactical Cloak is awesome. I was sniping fine with my Adept without the slowdown but with the slowdown, the game is practically on easy mode.

Just a quick question guys. I can't remember but I don't think there is anymore recruiting left to do however there is a space open between Zaeed and Samara. I found a picture online that shows a
Geth character named Legion
. Is there a dossier in regards to him in the Journal? If not, where do I get him?

It's a story event, you won't be able to miss him.

You get him during the IFF mission

I know that this isn't really the right thread, but can anyone tell me if the full game download on XBL for Mass Effect 1 includes all the DLC addons?

Is it just my sound setup or are the gunshots extremely loud? There's a lot of great atmospheric effects that sound excellent on surround, but I live in an apartment right now and the gunshots are disturbingly loud. I've tried lowering the sound effects but all that seems to do is lower the sounds during cutscenes.

Yeah, I noticed the mix was off. I had to turn down the sound during the combat and then turn it back up after.

Adepts are under appreciated. Now I remember just why I love using this class, especially with Advanced Training, you pretty much have a free choice of any ability any of your team members have. I've been able to do Advanced Training twice now and was given the choice to also pick up either an AR/Shotgun/Sniper. Add that to upgrading my chosen weapon, wow. I'm a walking biotic Universal soldier

Game is awesome and is taking too much of my time, quick question:

I have gained one of the characters loyalty, then lost it. Said character wont speak to me, any way to gain back that loyalty?

I fail at not knowing the spoiler tags, so I've kept it vague as possible.

BTW if your on a PC and having speech cut off issues, its because your overclocking. I had the same problem and fixed it by knocking off the overclock settings in BOIS.

Not all motherboards (mines MSI), have this issue and I think it only happens when coupled with a Creative X-FI card.

IIRC, it does not include Pinnacle Station which kind of sucked anyways. I liked BDtS which is included.

*Creative sucks!

sorry, i just really hate creative
without Creative's intervention we'd already have 5-D Temporal Echolocation Surroundsound
or something similar

Given Creative's driver history, I'd say the entire problem is related to the bolded. My system is o/c'd to all hell, and I'm running smooth as can be.

Amazingly epic, the twist threw me.
I wasn't expecting at all that the Collectors were actually the Protheans.

I've got Jack and Thane's loyalty quests left to do, then it's off to get the IFF. I'm having a little trouble with Thane's loyalty quest though:
The C-sec officer said 'Mouse' was in the upper level of the Dark Star, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get up there, unless I'm looking in the wrong area completely.

We're living in different universes, I think.

In the universe I live in (I call it "the real world"), WRPGs this generation are just the same as WRPGs of previous years... albeit with fewer features, less complexity, and worse writing. The only compensation is increased "production values" and "polish".

I'll tinker around with my individual speaker volumes and see if I can figure something out.

Yes.

If you lose loyalty, its probably because you couldn't use a paragon or renegade response. I had everyone's loyalty when I started thefinal mission

I agree. ME felt more epic than ME2 in no small part because of what you mention - the larger, more open missions.

On the contrary, I enjoy smaller, more packed missions. They provide more diverse environments, as well as make sure the action is there all the time. If you remove Mako sections the levels were small, they were artificially stretched by driving around. I hope they keep this mission format for ME3.

Agreed.

Level design in ME1 was abysmal.

ME2's environments look like they were used for a purpose OTHER than shooting fools. All they have to do is amp up the exploration a bit and add more loot.

It feels like a baby version of Gears 2, where there's random junk floating around that happens to be tall enough to take cover behind while also being low enough so that you can shoot over the crates/random walls/whatever.

The thing is, though the environments in ME2 were more diverse, it felt much more "funneled" than any of ME1's environments.

The missions/sidequests are all designed as cover-oriented third-person shooter backdrops. Even the hubs have that same "feel", to a lesser extent.

There's nothing wrong with this, of course, and I'd much rather have it over the same indoor/subterranean base 40 times, but personally, adding a bit more exploration would add that final element of the universe in.

Yeah, I found this hilarious.

My favorite was the level where cover actually rose out of the ground.

But even with this, still better than the first.

As Metroidvania says, more exploration is needed, but the linear shooter approach works and for the most part i think it should be kept.

The N7 missions had more puzzle-like design and were more exploration based. Extend most of them by 6 or 7 times, and those could be a second type of mission structure for ME3

The New Game+ in this game works pretty much like the old one. If you start a second game with a new character, you get to select any of the Advanced Training abilities you unlocked right off the bat. I'm on my second playthrough right now as a Sentinel (went Engineer first time) and I took Armor-Piercing Ammo (I didn't realize that Warp affected armor and I thought I'd need something to compensate for my lack of incinerate).

You also start with 50000 of every mineral and an extra 200000 credits. This is in addition to any bonuses you got from importing a rich/high level ME1 character.

I recall that part. With Shepard's inability to vault over anything without taking cover first, hilarity ensued.

Chain cover and better vaulting both need to be implemented.

I just do not know how they can handle that without moving the function to another button(i do not want that).

Good question, it happened to me at the same part and I thought it might have been a glitch. I couldn't hear what I thought was the most important part of the scene.

Same again. I reloaded a save and turned the subtitles on. I couldn't believe that THAT was where the sound cut out.

In more alarming news, I need 450,332 credits to get the rest of my upgrades around the galaxy!!! I have Mordin, Grunt, Thane, Zaeed, and Garrus' loyalty missions along with pretty much every N7 quest save the first one. Plus the Normandy crash site. I've heard it's best to save Tali and
Legion's
loyalty quests until after you recruit the latter. Is there any way on Earth I'll be able to score that much scratch before I go IFFin'? I figure about 50k per Loyalty mission but that only gets me to 350k.

EEEEK!!!

You will not be able to get them all. Prioritize.

Yeah, this needs to happen.

I recall the one N7 mission where literally all I did was push 3 buttons to restart a heat shield.

Or the one where all you did was shoot 10 varren.

If all the sidequests were the size and scope of loyalty missions, this game would be game of the forever.

In more alarming news, I need 450,332 credits to get the rest of my upgrades around the galaxy!!!

Have you been getting all the credits during missions through hacking and bypassing? IIRC, you should be able to match every "cerebrus funding" at the end of a mission with an equivalent amount of "hacked" credits.

Cep said:

WHAT?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Man I wish I knew that beforehand.

I guess that's why it says on the Loading Screen to chose between you and your squad.

I woulda picked my squad if I'd known! I swear!

When you get to Omega, or somewhere, can you quickly confirm that all ME1 choices are intact and the same as the original imported character?
