The Piranha and Carnifex nerfs dont seem THAT bad actually...

Hey everyone, just so you guys aren't left in the dark, here is what we're thinking of changing to the Carnifex and Piranha for next week's balance changes.

Piranha Shotgun
- Clip size decreased from 8 to 6

Carnifex Pistol
- Encumbrance increased from [1.0-0.5] to [1.2-0.7]

I'm also on PS3 and I'm almost always on bronze since I think I'm terrible at this game. I'll also send you a friend request next time I'm on.

Added. Bronze is perfectly fine for me. =)

doesn't really matter to me. I've solo'd Gold with almost every character. Geth would be easiest but if you feel more comfortable with Turian/Krogan I'll use them as well.

and thanks.

The couple of times I've played Gold (Firebase White/Geth) I've usually used Turian Sentinel, but it's been a while, and the success depended more on the team than my personal contribution. ;)

ím down, i will add you when im back home this friday. i can play any race, but Krogan sounds fun. my Kroguard with Reegar X is basically invincible on Silver so a win is almost guaranteed, unless im half asleep or something lol.

Please do. Silver with Kroguard is quite easy, but those one-hit kill enemies, like Phantom or Banshee, can sometimes be a nuisance. My Reegar I is not really suitable for the class though due to its effect on cooldown. I prefer using assault rifles in case there's a need for keeping a distance, like with the aforementioned enemies.

Silver Phantoms are easy with a Kroguard. Biotic Charge -> Heavy Melee while they're stunned = Dead Phantom. :p But i use a melee mod V on my shotgun + 10% extra melee damage from the Berserker Package V... maybe they can survive without this.

Unlocked the Fury! Gave it a quick whirl before heading off (and after telling Tsukumo I was heading out, sorry about that, but I bought my pack after I left the lobby :lol). It's cool, but I'm not really sure yet what weapons to use with it, nor am I really sure how Annihilation Field works.
AF inflicts any enemy within it's proximity with a biotic field that deals constant damage, and can be detonated. Ideally, you'll want to spec it for range at 4, enemy debuff at 5, and drain at 6. Have her Throw at 5 reset cooldown upon detonating biotic explosions, and you can pretty much run through mobs of enemies, constantly setting them off. And if any of them have shields/barriers, AF's drain will help keep yours replenished.

Also helps if you cast Dark Channel into the mob before hand. In addition to all the targets you'll be priming with AF, you'll have the DC field jumping from one enemy to another as you keep detonating it. Feels so amazing when you clear out mobs of Troopers 'n Cannibals like this.

As for weapons, I keep her equipped with an N7 Hurricane w/ the SMG Stability & Velocity mods. If you aren't able to finish the mob up entirely, or if you're dealing with boss classes, having the Hurricane equipped with Warp Ammo as you lay it on enemies within your AF, or those inflicted with DC will usually clean them up nicely; the combination deals some ridiculous damage.

Don't really have to bother with her fitness tree, she's squishy regardless; but if you find yourself dying too much, you can save the six points for her class tree's or Throw's last evo and use them for the first three ranks of her fitness tree instead... Might help a bit.

Oh, and keep in mind that, like the N7 Slayer, her biotic acrobatics 'n heavy melee allow her to teleport past cover 'n obstacles, and jump to different elevation points on a lot of maps.

Enjoy!

They're not bad as Banshees, but sometimes they've been the death of me. The Juggernaut package is also good for Kroguard. I used shotgun with Kroguard before, but now I like using assault rifles more due to the versatility they add. Especially as the better shotguns I have are on pretty low level.

Wasn't there an operation failure condition awhile ago where high level enemies crossed over to other factions? Might have been recorded then.

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that.

Banshees errwar. terrbo. jus terrbo. They wanted us to fail that operation just so they could subject us to that nonsense!

You know, 'round variables' would be a pretty neat addition to the game, with the ability to turn the on/off when hosting. Like, with random variables turned on, when a match started there's a chance some stuff like what we've seen from operation failures might be active.

Been periodically buying PSPs. Got my Argus at V, and my three remaining Rare Gear—Combatives, Shock Trooper, and Barrage Upgrades—are now at III.

Progress!

Lol, my level 10 Fury mopped the floor with everyone else on Silver, amazing.
Isn't she wonderful~? :]

And when you have a group of Biotics supporting her, games just end so fast—it's ridiculous.

Yeah, a bit squishy though. Getting close enough for AF to do something is pretty risky. And teammates targeting the dudes you hit with Dark Channel are the worst. LET ME DETONATE THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS.

Yep. Can't always rush in head-on, gotta flank a lot of the time. Helps that she has those biotic acrobatics; can teleport right next to 'em with AF, start wrecking everything for a sec, and make some quick get-aways.

Kind of high-risk/high-reward like the Vanguard.

You talkin' about guys with Tech/Ammo powers messin' up your detonation primes?

tech powers don't mess up the detonations. they stack

you detonate the tech burst and then you can do a biotic explosion

Just did a run of 3 Asari Adepts on silver with 2 randoms in a PUG. Full Extraction. Hopefully this one counted.

I started up a lobby, waited until more than 2 players popped up and was fortunate that they both picked the same class/race. swapped to an Asari, set the lobby on private, and off we went.

Apparently, setting the lobby to private after people join your public lobby doesn't always seem to work - we had quite a few people drop in and out for a bit. After wave 6 though it locked down to just the three of us.

Important : As usual there were some changes in the wording of the op : Need a full extraction.

http://social.bioware.com/forum/Mas...end-Operation-September-21-23-14171413-1.html

Cerberus continues to put pressure on our troops, hindering our fight against the Reapers. Our allies have committed their top military units to target Cerberus’ most valuable assets: their Atlas Mechs.

Squad Goal: Full extraction on any difficulty with all squad members as the same non-human race. Requires 2 or more players in squad.
Allied Goal: Kill 600,000 Atlas Mechs on any map at any difficulty.

Special Circumstances: Escort Drones travel speed reduced.

Squad Goal Success: All squad members awarded a Commendation Pack.
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack.

EDIT: Male & Female quarians BOTH count as quarians. They are the same race so teams of male & female quarians are allowed.

Thanks to Astroturfing, Dryuriev7777 and Clint Beastwood for help in the weekend objective. It was fun to play with the GAF folk. I laughed my ass off during the first match with the all-Krogan team, when each of us started spontaneously headbutting after the first round.

Wrapped up the Squad Goal real quick on White/Cerberus/Silver, all Krogan. Had some close calls, though... There was one kid, a Sentinel, that kept running off by himself; got sync-killed by a Phantom at least once. And in one of the earlier rounds, we encountered the glitch that makes enemies invincible; it was a Centurion in this case. To get the rest of the team to cooperate in order to fix it, I had to start barking orders into my mic—that same Sentinel kid started throwing around so many headbutts and grenades, I'm pretty sure he would've quit within seconds if I hadn't.

Just in case any of you are unaware: When they're like that, you have to lure them to an obstruction you can take cover behind, that they can hop over... Like you're setting them up for one of those melee grabs from cover—except you can't. You have to get them up close to it, move around a bit until they decide to hop over it. And when they do, they fall off the map and instantly die.

I'm not entirely sure how that glitch is even triggered. I think it may have something to do with the aforementioned melee grab from cover being interrupted.

Anyways, I think I'll play nothin' but Cerberus/Silver this weekend, give an easy-going contribution to the Allied Goal. :p

Is there some kind of glitch/hack that allow people to shoot multiple rounds of a Widow before reloading? I had some Kroguard doing this, Gold Atlas were going down ridiculously fast... should i report?

Reload cancel? If not, surely a hack?

I dunno, the guy used like 3 or 4 rounds of a Widow, and i never saw him start the reload animation, he literally shot bullets every second. Unless he was hiding the reload animation behind a Carnage one?

Played a bunch on Cerberus/Silver tonight, helped out some randoms I came across with the Squad Goal.

And once I was done with that, I decided to try out the N7 Slayer again, and something just... Clicked. I love the guy now. Changing his Charge's Evo4 to Radius helped out tons. Still got him specced out with preference for melee damage over the Phase Disruptor, but the latter still packs enough of a punch even at rank 3 to stagger just about everything.

Like the Shadow, I gave him an N7 Eagle for the Melee Stunner mod... I like the automatic fire, but I really wish they'd buff this thing's DPS more. :/

Sorry, I missed this.

But yeah, I'm aware. But when you're a jumping into a mob of enemies with the squishy N7 Fury, relying on those detonations to keep your shields up, I'm sure you can understand how the delay caused by Tech 'n Ammo powers can be a lil' problematic at some points. ;)

Any good builds for the Paladin? Unlocked him yesterday, but not sure where to put my points.

I'm a fan of the master debuffer paladin. Planting the shield down will get you killed most of the time, so to stay alive use the Armor Boosting Energy drain and simply keep moving.

Energy Drain: Radius, Drain, Armor Boost.
Nothing in Incinerate (unsurprisingly)
Snap Freeze: Reach, Cryo Explosion, Damage & Weakness (I think that Tech Combo is good too!)
N7 Paladin: Damage & Capacity, Power Damage, and... prooobably weapon damage here. But keep your cooldowns low!
Shield Mastery: Durability, Shield Durability, Cryo Shield.

Snap Freeze is amazing and together with the Cryo Shield will bring down enemy armor to 0%, making it a boss destroyer.

I used 6/3/6/6/5, which worked pretty nicely, but I'll try yours out. Sounds pretty good, since I never used Incinerate anyway.

EDIT: Why the fuck would someone join a lobby and then never ready up? I had a full lobby and this one guy wouldn't leave, and instead of kicking him the others just up and left. Strange people.

So is the multiplayer any better on pc? I just built one, and enjoyed the multiplayer at times on 360, but I hated how long to took to join matches sometimes. Any advantages to console other than graphics/controls? Never did dive deep enough into it, and I love co-op more than competitive.

whoa whoa whoa

The key thing about the Paladin is that you need to have host in order to take advantage of the Energy Drain Armor Boost.

Also, the shield is amazing - but there are important tricks to the shield that many people don't know/take advantage of. When you drop the shield, you can block everything in front of you at I'd say for aboooooooooout 60 degrees or so (horizontal and vertical). You can soak up a LOT of gunfire with it, banshee bombs included. The caveat is rockets, heavy melee attacks (atlas, brutes mainly) will shatter your shield and knock you back a little bit. Its okay though because you can instantly redeploy the shield this is important because it makes the shield durability a more or less expendable point to spend in that tree. You can redeploy a shield without any sort of cooldown. Don't waste the point.

Now, about shield dropping again - that cone is important. Because if your ass isn't covered, its the same as being out in the in middle of the street buttnaked. What people ALWAYS forget is that splash damage from attacks that hits your nearby teammates will still hurt you. For example, you have some Rocket Troopers lobbing missiles at you and you're blocking them like a boss for the most part while some are going over your head - your teammates who are hitting that beacon objective are maybe 2 meters away from you and getting hit beside you. You WILL take that splash damage. The shield isn't broken. Its just not a bubble of invincibility like many assume.

Incinerate is pointless.

Cryo shield though... I'm not a fan of it for two reasons. 1) The armor reduction bonus on enemies it provides just isn't as good as it should be on higher levels. And the Flame shield provides a fuckton of more damage. 2) Freeze Melee is great for Phantoms, but honestly the class has so many tools for fucking up Phantoms (energy drain, snap freeze, the melee just wrecks them in general...) that you don't need to really to key on it.

I've always rolled with a Mattock w/ Incendiary rounds with the Paladin class because you can gauge the amount of damage you're doing as you set up tech bursts and explosions while maintaining a quick power recharge. You can deal out a very solid amount of damage at a distance when you need to without a scope - and now that you can slap melee dmg perks to ARs, it makes more sense to use and AR for this build instead of a pistol or SMG. Armor Piercing mod + Melee attachment w/ Incin Rounds. They key is to make an explosion or burst on every non-boss enemy that you aren't going to kill instantly with a melee.

Well the main advantage over consoles is obviously the graphics and mouse aiming. You can also easily turn while running, which can help greatly and i heard its not really feasible on consoles. You also got 8 key shortcuts, i dunno how many the console versions have, but im sure its less than 8.

I've been playing mostly with people on my friend list lately, but when i used to join random lobbies, i usually could find one in a few secs, and if it took me more than 5 secs before finding a lobby... i just canceled and tried again until i could get one almost instantly. Dunno if it was just luck or some glitch though.

Went double Kroguard vs Geth yesterday, but it took 17 minutes. Fail.
Just for fun tried again today. Impromptu full pubbie squad of Turians vs Cerberus on Ghost. 2 Turians dropped for some reason, but another skilled Turian stayed on and we managed full extraction.

Gold is the new Bronze.

Just unlocked the Scorpion, and got the Argus up to VIII(I just want to get it out of my face so I can wrap up my Rare Gear already).

Also discovered the beauty of a Geth Infiltrator with a Javelin—it was only Silver, but I was taking Atlases out in 2 shots(which both followed Proximity Mines). The delayed shot is still going to take a while for me to get used to, but that damage output has to be respected.

Gold is the new Bronze.
i wonna be kewl liek Mindlog :B

This has been my least favourite community goal. It was impossible for me to get all 4 people the same race. Either people didnt have it, or someone would drop out half way through the game if they kept dying and they were replaced by some random who wasnt the same class we were.

I think it was really badly thought out, especially for those of us who play public matches only.

Also - i really like the paladin now but the only weapon i can really use with him is the Piranha. The whole snap freeze/shield thing to debuff armour is fantastic but you need to have a good squad to help you out when you get up and personal with an Atlas.

on silver i can destroy everyone with the paladin but gold is still pretty difficult.

Also, the Argus sucks but it sounds awesome. It is WAY too heavy for the amount of damage it puts out.
