Any new universal grinding maps/enemy setups? I noticed they made Firebase White much less grind friendly.

There's a really awkward, claustrophobic farming technique on Rio involving three Volus and a Paladin.

EDIT: Top of the page twice in a row? Hallelujah!

Jade has to be the hardest map in the game.

Cleaned up gold Cerberus on Rio. I have no idea who I was playing with, but they sounded Russian. Didn't make it to extraction and had to be revived a bazillion times, but it went pretty well otherwise. Twas human engineer, no drone, incendiary rounds, Mattock X, etc. Was all over pretty quickly. The Krogan with Reegar more or less carried the team. Atlus mechs were melting like butter.

I've always thought London is the hardest due to the lack of shelter. Jade was relatively easy on solo/Bronze (EDIT: Kroguard/Geth), when the weekend mission was to not use any consumables. Then again, I don't play on Gold.

London is brutal in some of the hack objectives. Jade is especially bad now against collectors with some escort objectives.

London is real tough, for those reasons. Objectives make such a difference. Hacking in the middle or anything like that is a nightmare.

The issue I have with Jade mostly comes down to the starting bridge. The entire map is so small yet so open that it's very, very easy for enemies to take a shot at you from a multitude of close by spawn points. Hacking on the bridge chokepoints your team and leaves you a sitting duck to attacks from all angles.

And yeah, mainly Collectors totally fuck your shit there. 90% of the time I'm playing on Silver. A good team on Jade is fine, but fuck that bridge so hard.

When I play on Silver and get London, I always think this is going to be hard.

The hacking missions on solo/Jade made me running in circles trying to lure the enemy away from the objectives. I tried Hydra on solo after you mentioned it, and it was far easier, although after the addition of Bombers it proved to be too much for me on solo/Silver/Geth. I still do like Jade when playing with a team on Silver though.

You can probably imagine how my Bronze solo run with Volus Adept on Jade against the Collectors went. =D

I can imagine that, as you're an easy target when you're at the bottom of the map.
The center courtyard is actually much easier to hold than staying up top. The only reason to stay there is for spawn control.

*On Gold/Platinum.

Agreed on the hacks Whoever made those really hates players.

Jade is my 2nd favorite map behind Glacier. Just have to be sure at least one player is at the back of the top blocking spawns. Grenade classes can have a field day.

The faction challenges must be balanced for Bronze or Silver. I have more Phantom Points than Centurion, Guardian and Nemesis Points combined.

I meant the devices/escort missions on Jade, when you're at the bottom of the map. I usually stay on the center when playing on London. The top offers a limited amount of places where to safely shoot from, as I've noticed during the hacking missions.

My faves would be Hydra, Jade, Glacier, White (although I'm a bit fed up with it, eventhough I haven't farmed on it), Dagger is good as well. Among London I somewhat dislike Thessia and Reactor, and to some extent Condor.

Reactor I find is a bit too big and doesn't flow very well. Something about it feels dull and drawn out to me.

Originally I thought Thessia/Goddess was kinda shitty, but I've grown to like it a lot. It's a small, tight map and I like where the spawns are set up. Kind of like Glacier. A nice challenge without the pain of Jade.

Hyrda and Ghost are probably my favourite. Both are large but flow really well. Nice mix of open areas, high ground advantages, and a few points of cover and bottlenecks. Quite like Vancouver for similar reasons.

I forgot Giant, which is also one of my faves, although it can be hard on Silver against Collectors/Reapers, and the post-DLC Geth, depending on your team of course.

I still haven't had the chance to try out the new White, as I play on random. Are the environmetal hazards circulated among different maps during every week by the way? As for Glacier, I didn't even notice the change. What exactly was changed?

Thessia/Goddess is sometimes ok, but it can get troublesome during the last waves on Silver. I wonder why no-one uses the back of the central area with the pools as their camping point? Seems to me it could be a good place to hold your ground, if all of your team chose to do so.

White's changes are fantastic, and in my opinion make for an objectively better flowing map. Love the additions. Glacier has had that little dead end room walled off, and an ammo crate has shifted from the lower indoor area to closer to the ramp.

Hazards are currently on a two-per-week cycle by the looks of things. Last week was Dagger (love that map) and Reactor. This week is Ghost and Giant. If you haven't played them yet, Ghost has on-and-off acid rain cycles that, if you're caught in, will eat away at your shields. Super tough. Giant is supposed to be night, illuminated by more frequent cannon fire, but it's still too light to be of any significant change. Looks pretty, but that's about it.

BioWare did say they were just testing out this method of hazard maps releases and if it doesn't work try something else. I think it would be better to just have them in bulk with a little option to tick if you want the hazard variation of a map. Same for unknown: tick a box if you want hazards to be included in the pool.

I find Male Quarian Infiltrator works pretty damn well with a Black/Widow now. Cloak is the only ability you need a frequent cool down for, and as long as you're getting the shot off after activation it's super fast. Scanner gives you a great buff against targets you can lay into with the rifle, and grenades are grenades.

Ah, I only used that Glacier room seldomly, when I needed cover. As for the hazards, I experienced both of them last week, but haven't experienced the new ones yet. I didn't think the Dagger & Reactor hazards were that extraordinary, but I guess they brought some variety to the old maps.

It'll be interesting to see what other hazards will be implemented. Neither of the last week's hazards were that problematic, as far as I'm concerned.

So I just discovered that the Geth Turret splits points into both Sentry Turret and Geth Turret.

C'mon, son.

Damnit! I wish it was the other way around. The QFE is a beast now. The GE can be really good too. Usually I take incendiary ammo with a Falcon and plus support with the GE and the healing turret.

That reminds me -- does squad healing rack up points for the challenges or just kills?

okay, the collector rifle... got it at x, and it does stupid damage if you can hit a weakspot. i think i can make it work, it just needs a lot of tweaks
I really don't like the Piranha.

maybe cause its only at 1 though....

Ah, my mistake.

I'm trying to think of what maps I don't like and the only one was White. The changes work for me.
Shotgun OmniBlade IV, Black Widow X, Typhoon I

RICH GET RICHER
That is absurd.
Black Widow can get it done on Gold again.

Found out that the biotic/tech mastery banners are really easy to unlock. One solo of Bronze will pretty much complete a challenge. Like an idiot I thought Annihilation Field would take forever. I forgot it does damage when you detonate it.
Run Into a Bronze Spawn -> Detonate -> Dead Spawn

finally cleared gold against the collectors. that was not easy.

i have a sabre 3 now is.this gun any good? it seemed to be more of a sniper rifle than an assault rifle.

They should be posting the weekend challenge today. I wonder how they will do it with the challenge system.

I don't think they will differ much from the past. At best, i guess the personal goal will be something like "Complete 1 challenge" and the community goal will be something like "Complete 100k challenges.

The challenges will be weekly from now on, right?

Get those N7 weapons up to X twice as fast!

[EDIT] - Which reminds me: Who was it that got a Hurricane VII last time? h8 u!

I think hes saying it would be better if it had piercing mods but it currently doesnt.
Basically. I'm saying it should be like the Widow, or Typhoon, in that it should possess cover/armor penetration by default, without any mods.

Wait, there is a infiltrator volus? I never noticed that class until yesterday and I recently unlocked the Shaman Krogan too, BW locked classes or some sort of weekly unlocks?

?... No. I think there's going to be a Volus Vanguard, and Sentinel in addition to the two we currently have.

If you're talking about a Volus using Tactical Cloak, all of the Volus kits can do that—it's their melee. :p

... Which reminds me. I wish the Asari/Fury's heavy melee could detonate biotic explosions.

BW locked classes or some sort of weekly unlocks?
Yeah, they'll be making the rest of them available like that, along with the weekly balance updates.

Good thing I just respec'ed my Krogan Soldier for maximum melee damage yesterday.

Time for a quick solo Bronze game. :)

No Allied Goal??

See this thread from BioWare:

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/343/index/14561283

Hey Folks,

As we are now implementing the weekend challenge system, the method for running them is a much smaller scale.

Each challenge consists only of an individual challenge or squad goal. There will no longer be a requirement to organize the entire community for an overall allied objective.

This eliminates the need for fanfare and announcements three days prior to the challenge itself.

It is a much more streamlined system and allows us to implement one each week.

This is not to say we are doing away with the large scale military operations. In these cases, when we run the larger ops, we will give a three day lead time.

Cheers

How can you guys do solo games?

I remember before the DLC my buddy and me wanted to do a 2 man game, and we set it to private but people still joined in on us. It was stupid

I can set a match to public and make my way through an entire game, solo, before anybody joins :(.

Time to take the trusted Kroguard back to action. I think I'm going to solo some other map than before, perhaps Giant or Ghost.

yeah there's some weird glitch with lobbies. I was solo'ing gold yesterday and some guy randomly joins on wave 10.

also that challenge is ridiculously easy. you don't even need to extract from the sound of things.

can you even get that medal from bronze? I don't even think there's 50 enemies total

Question: Is there any benefit to using the Widow over the Black Widow? I know the Widow does more damage, but it does that damage outweigh the increased DPS of the Black Widow?

i dont.think there has ever.been a clear objective.from bioware where i didnt have followup questions. they should at least explain how to get.a gold medal rather than assuming everyone knows.
