Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer |OT| Rich, deep online role playing

Yeah, go ahead and go for Gold. Honestly, I think its easier than Silver most of the time because Gold will slap you right in the mouth for being stupid whereas a game can really get away from in Silver since its so easy to do bullshit and get away with it.
gold is not easier than silver in any way, shape or form.

Just a quick tip in case you don't already know since you're new to MP. You can check out your manifest HERE. And you get the most bang for your credits if you max out your commons first (recruit packs) then uncommons (veteran packs) then rares (99k packs). Otherwise, there is a higher probability that the more expensive packs will still give you lower ranked stuff because it takes from the same pool. Also, check out INVADERONE on youtube if you want to check out some character guides. Oh, and THIS is a nice site for planning out your builds.

Welp ran into a missile glitcher on gold for the first time in a good while. Reported! I'm always tempted to put on my headset and start telling cheaters how bad they are, but nothing good ever comes from that.

Most frustrating death ever.

Carried Reapers/Giant/Gold Wave 6 escort mission with a Volus Vanguard. Everyone was dead* so the drone moved slow as shit. Finished the wave. In Wave 8 I am doing the traditional Volus Vanguard charge everywhere and Fire Explode everything. With the wave almost over I charge a Husk and a Banshee meets me exactly where I charge! Instant sync-kill for me and the team wipes shortly after.

Volus Vanguard is probably my favorite class right now.
I'm going to give up on the Commando Banner. I just don't care enough about those classes.
There ARE players with over 50m credits saved right now.

Maybe "easier" isn't the right word.

It's just more manageable because the entire lobby is like "Its gold. lets get this money" instead of "its silver, bout to try out my arc pistol II lolz"

Silver Collectors fucks up more people than smoking

Finally got a team to clear some gold matches. Was able to unlock a lot of new classes and some sweet weapons. Quick questions, will the paladin's shield trigger a tech explosion?

Would you look at that. Thanks, Stantron! So by getting each item first, you won't have those repeat over time, eh? Good to know since I've been buying Spectre Packs like they are going out of style with Assault Packs. 99K credits each hurts.

I have 11 rare weapons, wacked....

Thanks again!

I should have linked you specifically to the inventory section. Here it is: http://social.bioware.com/n7hq/home/inventory/?name=Jinaar&platform=pc

To clarify, you need to max out each weapon to level X before it takes it out of the pool. If you've been buying nothing but spectre packs at 60k a pop, you could have bought 12 recruit packs each at 5k instead to start filling out those weapons/gear/chars. By the way, premium spectre packs is a better value than regular spectre packs. Looks like you already have a bunch of commons... if you got those in spectre packs, that's an expensive way of buying them. Follow what I mentioned in the other post and you'll be more cost effective. Although, there is no harm in buying an occasional spectre pack to get a rare/ultra rare. Even at level I, that claymore/scorpion/wraith are good guns to work with. If you're having fun now, you're gonna have even more fun when you start to unlock some of the other characters. :)

The bold is true if you're only going for rares/ultra-rares to the exclusion of everything else. As long as you're still working through uncommon weapons, gear, and equipment, not to mention stockpiling consumables, regular Spectres are a better bet.

And don't forget about Jumbo Equipment Packs. If you're going to play gold, as a matter of etiquette make sure you have a full load of consumables ready, in particular medigel. New players=good. New players who insist on being a drag on the team by not keeping themselves stocked with consumables=bad.

So in the pursuit of finishing off challenges I've been playing a lot of Batarian Soldier lately. In the past I've always specced him for melee because it's fun and cool, but I decided to try for a more 'efficient' approach and have been having a blast with this build: http://narida.pytalhost.com/me3/cla...RailAmp3/CyclonicModulator4/GrenadeCapacity5/

Edit: original link had -10 skill points left derp.

Huge damage, solid tank, reliable stagger with ballistic blades (95% cooldown after Blade Armor if you're lucky enough to have a Harrier X), and spawn/armor nuking godliness with inferno grenades. If he had a dodge he'd probably be one of the top 5 kits in the game.

Hmm, that's weird. Well I'll just type out what I have so far:

I: Particle Rifle
II: Typhoon, Paladin
III: Wraith, Scorpion
IV
V: Cerberus Harrier, Collector SMG, Javelin, Indra
VI: Saber
VII: Black Widow, Talon
VIII:
IX:
X:

Basically, I need 69 more UR unlocks. That sounds like a lot.

URs are frustratingly rare and will be for the rest of the time you play this game, and they'll probably be the bane of your existence when you max out all your rares. Trying to pursue them specifically is infuriating, especially considering half of them suck. Just accept them as they come along

Yeah seconding this. Think of them as a pleasant surprise, not an expectation to frustrate you. It's also tough to give a time estimate on unlocking them, as it's dependent (in addition to luck) on how quickly you earn credits. If you run with a coordinated group that can knock out platinum matches in 20-25 minutes consistently, that's going to get you there a lot faster than playing with randoms on gold (my approach, whoops).

The good news is that the good ultra-rares are good regardless of level, and ditto for the mediocre ones (I wouldn't call any of them bad, myself). The only ones I find underwhelming are the Paladin, the Saber, and the Typhoon, and neither of those are bad guns by any means.

Do you like the Wraith? I think it's useless.

I remember hating it the first time I used it, but it is now one of my favorite and most used weapons. Probably my most used gun actually, great stopping power and accuracy, and light as a feather. Give it another chance!

I wish I could trade URs. I really want a high level particle rifle. still nothing. I have the scorpion at 8, harrier at 5 then black widow at 4..

Yeah, Wraith is fantastic. My #1 shotgun on every kit except Batarian Soldier. Batarian Soldier gets the AT Raider. I could probably use the Raider on a few other classes, but the Wraith is just too good for its weight to pass up. I really like using it even though I'm pretty much out of Shotgun Amps :\

The lack of my favorite consumable gear really sucks. I've had no Incendiary 4 for a while and I'm almost totally out of shotgun amps. In contrast I have enough Cryo, Disruptor and SMG mods to equip an army.

Not having Incendiary III/IV and Shotgun III amps is especially painful for my Volus Vanguard. He's good, but with just a tiny bit more damage I kill a lot of targets that sometimes take an extra charge or Wraith reload.

I need to start using more of my high level consumables. I have a lot of IV's from each type stocked up, "saving them" but for nothing in specific.

I just really hate the idea in my head that I could load up on consumables and then get into a game and then the host leaves and then I'm by myself, or I get DC'ed, or something like that which would cause me to lose the consumables. Though there's no sense in hoarding them, so I might as well use them.

im dominating with my new geth trooper build. scorpion 8 with 40% extra damage and extra ammo capacity. pistol amp 5 and explosion rounds 3. flame to knock down shields and armour then lay 7 mines on the floor around a group. explosions everywhere. guaranteed 150k points on gold per game.

Any suggestions on how to get my gear maxed out? I really want that grenade capacity, but I don't know which packs to get. My uncommon mods and gear aren't maxed out yet, but I rarely see them drop from veteran packs even when my uncommon weapons and characters are complete. Should I just go for PSPs instead of arsenal packs?

Is there a group still going for PS3? I finished the SP portion of the game again not so long ago and since I don't hate it with a fiery passion anymore (Extended Cut and Leviathan helped) I was thinking of giving the MP another shot. So, any PS3 bros still active here?

PSN is same as GAF ID.

Man... Just keep spammin' Spectre Packs and Premium Spectre Packs and hope for the best. There was a time when I was easily snagging Gear upgrades, then it started taking forever when the most recent batch of Gear was released alongside the DLC. It was partly because I was so busy with work 'n other games, but I only just got them maxed out last week.

It's random. I just used up all my luck early on, I guess. :p

I would suggest maxing out your Common & Uncommon stuff first though. Go in order, makes getting the Rare goods a little easier.

I think the arsenal packs give 2x the rate of psps. I notice every 5 packs i get a uR. with psps it was every 10 packs. today I got an indra 2.

Hey guys, I just started playing this recently (on PC) and want some advice on gearing up and getting new characters. I've maxed out all of my starter weapons using Recruit Packs and I know the next advised step is to keep buying Veteran packs. However I'm wondering if this is old advise with the new Arsenal and Reserves pack. Basically I wonder if I can leap frog past filling up my Uncommon weapons and go straight for Rares in order to have the gear needed for farming Gold. Also do the newer classes make a big difference in farming compared to Common and Uncommons or are they just sidegrades? Thanks.

no. go for vet packs first. dont waste 99k credits for 2 uncommon weapons.

He would still get rares when buying arsenal packs, but skipping out on uncommon gear and the like is still a poor choice. I feel personally like after a certain point, the right choice in terms of packs has more to do with credit intake than anything. If you're still playing silver matches, grind out some veteran packs. If you're consistently clearing gold matches, then going for Spectres is probably a good call, 3 uncommons and a rare.

I'm clearing Silver now, probably not as effective as other players but I can at least support them with Asari Adept. I also just unlocked Turian Soldier and Saber with a Reserves pack and that may be my first weapon class that won't be useless in Silver if it's not laggy and I can line up headshots.

So I can still get Rares with Veteran packs? Hopefully that will make the grind and gambling process more interesting.

Well, no, not usually. I believe the chance of a rare in a vet pack is roughly similar to getting an ultra rare in a spectre pack. The thing is though, that a lot of weapon mods and equipment is uncommon, and skipping over the chance to earn those is a mistake. If you want to start unlocking rares, yes you need to move to spectres and above. Some of the most useful items in the game are uncommon though, so focusing on rares too soon is definitely a mistake. The next step up in my opinion is to standard spectre packs, not arsenal/reserve packs. You'll get more items unlocked overall (5 drops for 60k versus the same amount for 99k), you'll get more extra consumables (5 per pack) and you'll unlock uncommons 3 at a time (usuall) in addition to you're guaranteed rare. I think that your priority should be to get to the point where you're comfortable moving to gold as soon as you can. That isn't to say you should rush it, but the thing about the lower difficulties is they don't do a whole lot to prepare you past learning the basics of enemy types and objectives and the like. If you go much beyond that, the lower difficulties are simply teaching you bad habits by punishing you less for mistakes that would cost you more on gold or platinum. Use silver as a chance to get really familiar with one or two classes, build up consumables (do not go into gold without some medigel stocked!) and unlock a few decent weapons, whether uncommon or rare. Without forcing it, I feel pretty strongly that testing the waters on gold as soon as you feel comfortable is the right approach. You're goal at first shouldn't be to be the biggest scoring team member, but really just to hold your own and not drag your team down. Frankly, most people playing with randoms are either a)bad or b)expecting their team mates to be bad, so you don't have to raise the bar too high to exceed those expectations.

I say all this as someone who has put a disgusting number of hours into this game, so take it all with a grain of salt; if you're miserable playing on gold, then stick with silver, making the game a chore for yourself is a great way to burn out before it even really gets fun.

I'm definitely clearing Gold matches when my teammates aren't crap. All my uncommon weapons and characters are maxed. It's just the uncommon gear and weapon mods that aren't.

Wait do Spectre packs really drop 3 uncommons and a rare?

Crap, I just noticed that weapon mods also have levels and are in the common category. I'm gonna have to keep buying Recruit packs and max those out too, don't I? :(

You really should, but in terms of credit spend that'll take little time at all, and you'll stock up some consumables in the process.

Usually, the exceptions being when they drop two rares (yay!) or when they drop a common character card (usually lame but if you're leveling a class up they're worth 250k xp).

Oh nice. That's good to know. I'm just sick of buying Vet packs because you're only guaranteed 1 uncommon so it takes much longer to max out stuff.

Here's what I'm using right now. http://narida.pytalhost.com/me3/cla...lAmp3/AdrenalineModule3/ShockTrooperUpgrade5/

Weapon is kind of to taste, I like the harrier on him aswell. Homing grenades are kind of an afterthought honestly, just spare points on account of only needing cloak at 4. He's a great kit though.
That's what I was thinking of using. Right now I'm very effective with full Homing Grenades but, that extra 10% movement speed is very handy.

I started using Drells to work on the Outsider banner. Another banner that looks great, but has a stupid name. I wanted to change up my Drell Adept so I went 6/0/6/6/6. With Grenade V and Adrenaline III I was flying around the map blowing everything up. Threw in the Collector Sniper Rifle for flavor. Really fun build I hadn't used before.

I don't understand why low level people play gold when they keep dying and can't hold their own. It was so frustrating when they would run off, die, and expect one of us to revive them. What boggles my mind the most is that they kicked me after we all got dropped in the money round when I was the only one actually killing enemies and doing the objectives.

I dont play gold with anyone under level 300 and who hasnt got a good loadout. seriously, its a waste of my consumables to do otherwise.

Yeah, when I join gold matches, I typically don't equip any consumables until after the first match so that I can make sure the connection and the players are good. Good thing my human sentinel build is good enough.

Is he really a shotgun infiltrator? I figured the Recon Mine would make him an amazing sniper.

I tried what you suggested and it doesnt work. The thing about the drell is he MUST be mobile. When you have a sniper you have to look through the scope and stop...it totally doesnt work on the drell. I tried a collector sniper rifle which was ok but a SMG works much better on him.

Id also try him with a scorpion with heavy barrell and pistol amps - recon mine > Flood the ground with 7 mines > Detonate > Homing grenade to clean up anything.
