Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Wouldn't that be a hard retcon? I mean they can't just say 'hey, that entire ending sequence didn't actually happen', they have to excuse it somehow, be it indoctrination or a dream.

No, I suppose you're right on that. I wish they'd done ME2 in sort of the same way they did ME1, with there always being some loss. They could've easily bumped Jacob off really.

They could have always had 2 of your party members die, even if you played perfectly, but that might have pissed a lot of people off depending on who is was that died.

EDI: "Shepard, I think Joker wants to fuck me, you have first hand sexual experience, how do you know when someone's romantically interested?"

...*ALT+F4*

*uninstall*

*gasoline over computer*
It's amazing how they took a relationship that was just the right kind of absurd and discomfiting in ME2 and turned it into full-blown BSN quarian-sweat-level fanfiction.

Reaper-Controlling Shepherd destroying the relays makes no sense.

I guess they just needed some base level of uniformity for Mass Effect 4.

The indoctrination theory seems like a huge stretch to put it mildly. I think it has no merit, but with Bioware anything is possible I guess, as exemplified by the current ending.
Me and other posters have said before. It gives bioware too much credit.

I picked the one on he left.

It wasn't really that bad. Limited possibilities presented by the ancient pointless overlords of the galaxy, who don't really know what's what, nor what just happened in the game. I didn't mind that all of the mass relays were taken out. That was the bigger reset and so the pointless overlords rein is over.

Why did building the crucible lead Shepard to doing their bidding in the end? Is this pretty much the plot of the matrix?

I'd start to think I was more a fan of Drew Karpyshyn than of Bioware itself, except, y'know, his novels. This pretty much covers all that's wrong with the ending. Beyond that, there's the dark energy storyline that was planned from the outset by Karpyshyn, which offered complications that would continue to drive an interesting premise inside the Mass Effect universe and wouldn't have served to render hours upon hours of investment in galactic politics and relationships as moot. I can't believe they deviated from that for this ending.

In almost all respects, this was light years ahead of the identity-crisis rushed mess that was Dragon Age 2. (I know, different team.) But the writing-fail on display here was still quite incredible. You can see what they're trying to do - reach for the profound ambiguous ending - and it's all the more painful.

Hopefully, Bioware get their mojo back and re-approach their old mantra of producing deep RPGs with rich, satisfying narratives. Since "deep RPG" without "action!" or "cinematics!" next to it probably reads like anathema to EA execs going forward - sorry, I don't mean to keep harping on Dragon Age 2 but look at what they did to fucking Dragon Age 2 - I won't hold my breath.

So the people angry at ME3's ending have raised over $57k for charity now: http://retakemasseffect.chipin.com/retake-mass-effect-childs-play

I think that's pretty awesome.

ooh lol so true. Im glad i become less dependent on Gaming press.
Because shit leaks like hell now i have access to a lot of prerelease streams.
Or friends who have already played it.

Just watched Invisible wall and the guy who reviewed Mass effect 3 you could see he wanted to hate the ending but the rest of the crew didn't finished the game yet. Love Marcus Beer he is sometimes funny with his corporate jokes like "You can just see Ea sticky money grabbing fingers now and then in the game".

Still i do want to see next week episode and Marcus reaction on the ending and the post credits Buy our DLC pop up.

WHAT WASN'T THIS INCLUDED IN THE GAME!? That right there would have put this game's ending over the top for me.
if they didn't fuck up the last 5 minutes
I received the edited version. They didn't talk about being a father. People say if you didn't romance you get that. I don't even know if that's true. Why does romance have to do with thar convo?

I've got an hour until I go for a run. I've got the weekend confirmed podcast to listen to, but I'd like one other one in case they piss me off and I have to shut it off. Anyone listen to any other podcasts this week where they talk about the ending? Preferably one where they don't mock the shit out of upset fans?

Sorry, I know of none that currently do that.

The best parts of this game are those that are associated with forming the alliance between the Turians and the Krogans. Mordin Solus' sacrifice in order to free the destiny of the Krogan from the suffering he has inflicted on them was easily the most touching and tear-inducing moment of the game. Other honourable mentions go to Thane's passing and Grunt's survival.

R.I.P Mordin.

Finally finished the game, picked the "destroy" ending and I have to say, I quite enjoyed it... I know, I should probably flee this thread before people get all over me for not completely hating it. I was just expecting something completely fucking stupid based on how much of an uproar there has been about the ending.

The Reapers are finally destroyed, heavy sacrifices had to be made (Anderson :( & the loss of the Relays). But the galaxy is finally safe, and Shepard did what he had to do to accomplish that, even though that..whatever it was at the end tried to convince him to do otherwise. Didn't expect to see Shepard breathing at the end but, hell it's Commander. Fucking. Shepard. I also really liked the post credits sequence, I love the idea of it..the story of Shepard and how he saved the galaxy being passed down throughout history.

I am starting to think of my own ending in my head so not the tarnish the otherwise GREAT game ME3 was up to this point.

Sorta like this ending some dude eddited together:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uDQHTWvurc&feature=watch_response

I like this except for the jarring cuts and the awesome faunts music was removed. Plus you have absolutely no idea what happens to your crew which I cannot abide. But I really like the extended conversation with Anderson I wish they included that

We never know we only show like 1/5 of the relays go Boom.
And then we saw joker land on some cybernetic Garden of Eden planet in my ending.
Then Credits and Grandad telling about Shepard having sexy times and how reaper process humans to his grand child would be like Showing the Kid one of the SAW movies or Something similar.

What if 4/5 of the Relays didn't go Boom. What if there are still 100 reapers around.
That is a lot of speculation everybody has to do.
Because they were to cheap to write a decent epilogue.

Just finished, and am quite irritated.

That was the dumbest fucking shit ever. Honestly who looked at these endings and thought, "Yeah, people who have put 70+ hours into these three games will love this! AND THEN WE TELL THEM TO BUY THE DLC!" BRILLIANT.

Fuck you Bioware. Fuck you EA.

Jumped right to the anger stage I see. I was the same at first, I think I actually said if Bioware was a single person I'd choke the life out of it.

I whish i could say that time will heal your wounds..
But i'm still in the anger phase after 3 days.

With the control ending The Shepard gets to sacrifice himself to save everyone, but what happens to the Reapers now they're controlled by dead Shepard?
