Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Could someone please summarise the main points people are so pissed off about with regards to the ending? I get that the post credits thing was dumb and choices from the first 2 games didn't make much difference but other than that I don't really see what was so offensively bad. Certainly it wasn't as good as it could have and there's stuff I'd have liked to see that wasn't in there, but thats they only have so much time and resources to make what is already a massive game. I don't see why people are treating it like its worst ending of all time and that people actually think bioware should change it seems absurd.

you screwed every single thing up, because of you, 1000's of people are going die. everything you did, what you fought for was for nothing in the end.

and no matter what ending you get, everyone is screwed, all those fleets around earth can't go home. there won't be enough food to survive. earth is burning. all your friends, ended up somewhere random or are dead.

all the work you spend getting everyone to trust each other no longer matters, since no one will ever be able to see each other ever again.

and there is probably more

But EoE can at least brag about its fucked up ending. ME3 is just 1 boring end with RGB color palette swap.

The game sold like 900k on day 1 in NA alone. Bioware for better or worse isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Keep in mind that it's the end of a trilogy started pre-EA. Last time I checked nobody really cares where Dragon Age goes to and... there's an MMO that could dealt with by any other studio.

Why would EA keep them around and not do what they have to each and every purchase they've made in the past? Hey, if I'm wrong, all the better, but I kinda expect this pattern to repeat itself like it has so many times before. Just another speculation.

Why are Liara, Joker and Garrus on the Normandy? Shouldn't they be on the earth? And why does Shepard breath, although the Citadel exploded?

The ending doesn't make much sense, only the color changes. ;-)

Okay, one quik thing, probably adressed but there are so many pages..
The annoying kid says i had a 3 choices, where do i actaully made that choice, i just walked in the beam...
Or is this the ultimate trolling attempt from bioware..

My ending only had 2 choices, but it was based on which path you walked down from the fork.

Does somebody have that post where it turns ME3 ending and fits it to be a LotR ending. I have a friend who knows of Mass Effect, but doesn't play it and wants to know what the big deal is. I figured that is the best way to explain it.

Since a lot of people probably missed it at this point I'll post it again. (I bookmarked the post because I loved it so much.)

If Bioware had ended The Lord of the Rings
A post by Dresden, ME3 Spoiler Thread #6963

"Imagine that Frodo got rid of the ring and is now lying there with Sam when a giant eagle picks him up and carries him into magic elf land where he is told by a tiny midget elf that he was the master behind Sauron and now Frodo has to make a choice between killing all the orcs and other such magical beings which would include elves, controlling them and becoming the new lord of dark shit or making everyone half-orc-elf-human-hobbit-dwarfs. Then you see a cutscene where green clouds explode from Mordor and there's a clip of everyone growing elf-ears. "

Press the "Home" + "Lock" key. It takes a screenshot of the screen. Next, just plug-in the ipad, explore the device and you can see the screenshots you took.

At least, that used to work when I worked at EA mobile. :|

That can't be a real quote. Galactic readiness was just bullshit.

Unfortunately the way the image is placed in the app it doesn't work.
I need a way to rip the image out of that frame.

No, no, no guys. We use all that Reaper tech to create new Mass Effect Fields. Problem solved, five years later. Oh yeah!

They build the crucible in a couple of weeks. It can be done!

The thing about the Mass Relays exploding has been covered several times, but it was nice to read this from the codex in the ACTUAL game.

I also like that the first sentence negates what Shepard did in Arrival and thus killed a whole colony of Batarians for no fucking reason in the narrative.

Some one in Bioware didn't do their homework.

They exploded with space magic though, and that space magic doesn't necessarily harm organics. The relay exploding problem is less about the relays exploding and instead the stupid space magic being baseless horse shit churned out of a god child.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Cartman style. Oh my god, that is truly horrible.

Although... it does explain what the hell Joker is flying away from.

"Shepard has gone insane! He's killed everyone!"
*flies away*

THANK A LOT, SHEPARD. You are such a legend.

ah man

Oh man, this quote from SomethingAwful is quite poignant.

When motherfucking Drakengard makes more sense than your game, you went somewhere seriously, seriously wrong.
What's neat is that Drakengard's last last ending plays right into the plot of Nier, an amazing game :O

So everyone dies in the game.

Perfect.

No wonder the Reapers lost. They had a Marauder as the last bastion between Shep and the teleporter instead of Harbinger.

The next Mass Effect should be a space combat prequel where you play as Harbinger, and go around the galaxy terrorizing lesser creatures, colonizing planets and creating more Reapers. Sovereign is a potential squad mate, and a rather witty and sarcastic one. The Garrus of Reapers.

Problem solved: Everyone's dead, Joker escaped the death beam and gets to play Adam and Eve with EDI (and the rest of the female squad members...).

I see.
Well they did a great job of explaining that...
Nothing but corridors the entire game, but to take the final choice in the game you have to take a fucking forked path to make your decission.

The problem is that we see Mass Relays getting destroyed without any exposition on what type of destruction we are dealing with. Thus it is probable for some players to initially infer from the *only* info that has been given in the game that destruction of Mass Relays = bad shit happening.

Luckily for Bioware we presume they aren't complete idiots and therefore we are dealing with another type of destruction, than the one we have learned about prior to Space Kid.

any hardcore me fans here loved the ending at first but then after days of seeing the fan reaction and reading this thread suddenly agree with the negative outrage?

i'm a hardcore fan, I played through ME1 7 times and ME2 3 times for all achievements, classes, decisions, and different save files in anticipation of ME3. when the game finally ended I was in complete awe, it was probably my fanboyism, as ME1 is my favorite game ever and me series will probably go down as my favorite series ever, but I loved the ending at first. then I proceeded to read forum reactions this thread, twitter, yt, and didn't get all the hate, but as it sunk in after 3 days i'm firmly in the disappointed side.

I'm getting there... slowly but surely. I finished not much more than an hour ago but the shitstorm I've stumbled on is pretty hilarious. Despite the ending, I still enjoyed the game overall.

I see.

This is what pissed me off more than anything... also because I was stuck at the wrong one as I got close to it (not sure if this was intentional or a bug). I wanted to "destroy" the reapers but was kinda forced into "control" due to the paragon color and not being able to move.

No wonder the Reapers lost. They had a Marauder as the last bastion between Shep and the teleporter instead of Harbinger.

You would think that Harbinger would have stayed behind to make sure Shepard was actually dead, let alone not making sure both Shepard and Anderson make it through. Instead, he's like "Okay, I'm out. Marauder Shields, guard the beam transmitter with great valiance!"

Don't worry, many are feeling the same way. Quality experience minus intro+ending.

Yeah, I made the same mistake. I though the choice was going to be made at the beam. Nope!

Yeah. But, like, space ghost and space magic is a good enough excuse...right? Right guys?

Guys?

But EatChildren said it wasn't a universe reset

Oh, we're doing this song and dance again. Weyo!
