Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Okay, just finished it, and quite liking the ending ( I kind of expected Shepard not to survive all this or having to sacrifice himself to do it so well ... :p )

But what about the clip after the Normandy crashes, I just saw Joker / Tali / Garrus get out of the ship, is this supposed to be related to something like in ME2 and mean they are 'saved' ?

All this was a good game and all but man there is so much glitches and things about decisions you made that just don't make sense at times that it somehow left a bitter taste in my mouth.

The overall story was enjoyable in itself but it could have been awesome if not for those stupid things.

That feels like such a missed opportunity there.

You haven't figure out the repercussion of the ending. All lives on Citadel were killed by the Reapers; all civilized star systems were destried during the Relay explosions.

Thinking again.

If noone warned me about the ending I would have been PISSED.

but

Since people acted like it was the worst ending ever, I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't as bad of an ending as Dragon Age 2 (worst ending in probably any story based game that isn't Alan Wake or Heavy Rain)
Disagreeing with you, again.

It was the worst ending I've ever experienced in my 20 years of gaming, simply because I didn't have so much of an emotional connection to a series before. MGS4 pissed me off but nowhere near this much.

:-/

What if I told you one Last idea for DLC to get back in? It involves captain Anderson in our time being a best selling author that contracts dementia and has his 7 year old niece finish the book at the part where you get hit by a reaper laser.

Rejoice! Your ban has lifted!
*Krogan death hug*

I beat it and I don't know what I feel exactly. I mean, Mass Effect has been a huge part of my gaming life. The game came out in what 07' and I've played through 1 and 2 at least three times over.

I chose the merge ending because it seemed like everything would just repeat if I didn't. I wish there would have been more resolution shots with your crew or something to that effect.

Overall it just felt a bit shallow I guess. I don't know. Not as fulfilling as I had hoped it would be. I gotta digest it more and I might load up that last checkpoint to see what the paragon type ending would have been like.

Hard to believe its all over now. Shepard really was Space Jesus.

Not only that, but in this very thread someone said all dudes came out their ship. Only Joker Liara and Javik came out of mine...no EDI.

I had Joker, EDI and Garrus on mine... i guess i could understand showing Garrus since he was the LI of my femshep(although it still dont make sense since he was with me when we ran for the Citadel beam on Earth)...but why EDI? Because i chose the green ending?

Because you made Joker SO happy. He won't need those zetabytes of porn anymore.

Blue= Edi walks out
Green= Edi & joker hug

What? Dragon Age 2 ending wasn't nearly as crappy as this one, not by a longshot

If you don't pick destroy, I think you always get Joker and EDI. Then I believe you get your LI, if they're on the ship (so that's either a squadmate or Traynor/Steve).

If you didn't have a LI, or they aren't on the ship, or EDI's dead, you get random squadmates.

I'm just going to save you time and tell you all the endings are the same. Instead of a green blast you get a red or blue one, and Joker and the crew don't look all robo. That's literally the only differences.

Supposedly if you didn't chose destroy and made Joker and EDI a thing they will come out in the ending.

What scenes/moments did you guys really like?

I didn't romance Liara and that scene at the end on Earth, when she does her mind meld thing and just nuzzles on Shepard while the galaxy blows up was strangely beautiful.

Also, loved the end of Thane's death when Shepard said something about the prayer, and his son replied that it wasn't for Thane, it was for Shepard.

And I also had Samara die. That was a pretty rough death right there.

Thoughts?

But that's the thing, Garrus wasn't on the ship, he was with me on Earth right before all shit went downhill on the Citadel. Yet he magically teleport to the Normandy in the end.

Why did no one told me Garrus was a wizard?

What in the blazes?

I'm assuming there's something about which party members you bring into the final battle that influences it. First time around I went Liara/Garrus and picked synthesis. Then it started me at the Cerberus base assault after the credits, so I went through again with EDI/Tali and picked destroy. Joker, Ashley(my LI), and EDI walked out in both endings.

It's quite interesting how I can justify Synthesis being the best ending (even though it is essentially what both Saren and the Reapers wanted all along) simply due to the notion that "well... if they're hybrid, maybe they don't require all that much food! ... Maybe..."

Mac? :p In all seriousness their are too many scenes to list. It felt great to kill Kai leng after he killed Thane, Mordin going out like a true G. Curing the Genophage, talking to everyone before the end mission and lame-o ending. The game is amazing. I'm not a hater, I just want closure.

I justified it to myself by saying, now they would be intelligent enough to make some mass relays themselves.

Miranda / Horizon mission, drunk Tali, Thessia Pilot, Grunt kicking ass in that cave. Most of the EDI stuff.

You didn't have a sniping moment wirh Garrus?
Ashley drunk on the floor?
See tali drunk?

All great.

"This is for Thane, you son of a bitch!" was pretty good, too, even though it necessitated them being negligent idiots and turning their back to his supposed corpse.

The Garrus moment was awesome. I let him win. Ashly was unfortunately killed in action on the planet Virmire. Tali was amazing, even the dialog I had with her when trying to quash the war between her people and the Geth. Apart from the ending this is maybe a top 5 all time game.

- Liara time capsule moment was very touching and sweet, and nicely put into perspective the possibility of failure and necessity to plan 'beyond'. Her moment on Earth was excellent too.
- Everything on Earth actually. Saying final goodbyes to your entire squad was a perfect culmination of everything I've done and played on my emotional attachments to all these characters.
- Rush to the Citadel beam thing owned. Honestly I loved everything up until the floating platform, including the TIM/Anderson showdown.
- Turian moon skybox because it looked fucking awesome.
- Visiting Grissom Academy, seeing Kahlee, and having that tie in from the book. Cameo by Jack was great as well.
- Grunt being a bro.
- Garrus Citadel moment.
- Legion's sacrifice and referring to himself as "I".
- EDI being a smokin' hot cyborg babe.

There's lot of shit but those jump out at me right now.

There's not much argument against the synthesis ending. Reaper threat is gone, Geth/Synthetics still exist in some form, and all life in the galaxy is uplifed to a highly advanced peace faring singularity. Plus it's the 'hardest' ending option to unlock.

"But Shepard lives in destroy" is the only counter argument I've and, well, I don't know about that. Shep's dead, baby. Shep's dead.

I think most of these have been stated before, but someone over at the BSN compiled them. While some of the 'resolution' is certainly semantic, depending on the in-game resolution versus an epilogue resolution, some of this PR talk is just so blatantly just that it's kinda funny.

“I’m always leery of saying there are 'optimal' endings, because I think
one of the things we do try to do is make different endings that are
optimal for different people “

“And, to be honest, you [the fans] are crafting your Mass Effect story as
much as we are anyway.”

“There are many different endings. We wouldn’t do it any other way. How
could you go through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and
then be forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets? But I can’t
say any more than that…”

“Every decision you've made will impact how things go. The player's also the
architect of what happens."

“You'll get answers to everything. That was one of the key things. Regardless
of how we did everything, we had to say, yes, we're going to provide
some answers to these people.”

“Because a lot of these plot threads are concluding and because it's being
brought to a finale, since you were a part of architecting how they
got to how they were, you will definitely sense how they close was

didn't make”

“For people who are invested in these characters and the back-story of the
universe and everything, all of these things come to a resolution in
Mass Effect 3. And they are resolved in a way that's very different
based on what you would do in those situations.”

Interview with Casey Hudson (Director)
http://venturebeat.com/2012/03/02/c...t-3-with-the-sometimes-cranky-fans-interview/

“Fans want to make sure that they see things resolved, they want to get
some closure, a great ending. I think they’re going to get that.”

“Mass Effect 3 is all about answering all the biggest questions in the
lore, learning about the mysteries and the Protheans and the Reapers,
being able to decide for yourself how all of these things come to an
end.”

Interviewer: “So are you guys the creators or the stewards of the franchise?”
Hudson: “Um… You know, at this point, I think we’re co-creators with
the fans. We use a lot of feedback.”

Interview with Casey Hudson (Director)
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...fdsafdhudson-interviewae.aspx?PostPageIndex=2

Interviewer: [Regarding the numerous possible endings of Mass Effect 2] “Is that
same type of complexity built into the ending of Mass Effect 3?”
Hudson: “Yeah, and I’d say much more so, because we have the ability to
build the endings out in a way that we don’t have to worry about
eventually tying them back together somewhere. This story arc is
coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot
more different. At this point we’re taking into account so many
decisions that you’ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that
stuff. It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings,
where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got
ending A, B, or C.....The endings have a lot more sophistication and
variety in them.”

“We have a rule in our franchise that there is no canon. You as a player
decide what your story is.”

Also, BSN has mellowed somewhat. Bioware's share your favorite moments while we're trying to agree on an official stance to take, but will have an answer "soon"(TM) strategy is starting to wear people down.
