Yep. I'm weak. Though I will wait to see what kind of ending DLC it is. Clarification of the current endings would be a toss up. Anything new/different is a yes.

As to the why of dislike, prob the plot-holes or lack of player choice having any real effect.

Picked Green first time, went back to see if Red was different. Was disappointed.

Heard a great point on "artistic integrity" and how it's not that big of a deal if problems need fixing. Answer: Mass Effect: Deception

The funny thing is we've heard nothing about any revisions to Deception even before ME3 came out. Just a blanket statement saying "we're listening and plan to fix it."

They probably can't say anything now, but I'd make a strong wager no revision's coming out for quite some time if at all.

Internet, read this.

I find it somewhat ironic that Patrick praised the ending to Lost because of its focus on the characters, when the ending of Mass Effect 3 eschews basically all of the character development you had done over the past five years in favor of a wedged in artistic statement. ME2 got it right-- while the ending was the culmination of that game's story, the device used to conclude that story was firmly centered on your crew. It balanced plot with character in a way that resonated with most of their fanbase. And by its very nature it could be either triumphant or tragic. You can clear the mission with your entire team intact, returning to the Normandy like McArthur to the Philipines, or you can suffer losses, and finish your mission at the expense of the characters you've grown close to for the preceeding 40 hours. And all of that is based on your choices. It works.

There's nothing like that in ME3. All of the character development, all of your emotional attachment to the cast is suddenly superceded by this whole new conflict that you have to make a snap judgment on. It betrays not only a lack of concern for player agency, but a failure on the part of the writer to understand what his game is even about.

Yep, how convenient that none of the people making the artist argument say anything about Deception, which was also full of plot holes, lore inconsistencies, and character defamation, was acknowledged by Bioware as being "necessary of a fix".

Of course, Deception's errors were a lot more blatant to a lot of people than ME3's apparently are, and wasn't written by Bioware themselves, so it's a lot easier for Bioware to 'write it off'.

Also, artist integrity IS NOT valid once you start charging for your work. It is only applied to those that do it freely.

Well...the artist always has a certain end-vision of his or her work. They can agree to leave it unchanged, but if no one likes it, they're going to be a poor artist quite quickly.

  It didn't fit the series at all. ME3 was doing an amazing job of making you feel key decisions from previous games mattered, while also elaborating on what I feel is Shepard's most important trait throughout the series - her leadership, but in the end your decisions and Shepard's leadership (among other skills) don't really matter, and all you needed to do is pick a color. In retrospect, it makes the rest of the game feel mostly irrelevant, as all you did throughout the game is collect war assets that had little effect on the ending.
  
  To make it worse, it's a "bittersweet ending" that's desperately missing any "sweet."

I find it curious that TIM is about 'control' and Shepard tells TIM that he is indoctrinated if he thinks he can control the reapers(considered the bad/evil decision)...but then Shepard can choose to control the reapers when starchild comes in and its blue in the cutscene.

Also...if TIM was trying to 'indoctrinate' shepard and if TIM was already indoctrinated by the reapers then BY SCIENCE: reapers were trying to indoctrinate shepard.

It still boggles my mind how vastly different everyones games are. I had Wrex around in ME1, 2, and 3 and it's incredible how others had him killed off in the very first game.

There's just so many differences and it makes the game so amazing, yet makes the ending even a bigger shame.

  It's complete nonsense/gibberish. Nothing the Catalyst says makes any sense, and the sequences that follow don't make any sense either. The ending seems to exist outside the Mass Effect universe that was described by the previous 2 games and most of 3.
