Mass Effect: Andromeda |OT| Ryders on the Storm

Games got a lot of good and a lot of bad in it, I can see why it reviewed like it did.
My chief complaint is you can't romance a krogan? Smh what were they thinking this game is all about hot alien sex and yet I can't shag this hulking krogan, also can't shag homegirl with the half cut if you're female? She hung out with Asari for years and never partook? Yeah right!
And to add insult to injury one my favorite actresses who I've had a crush on forever plays Lexi but you can't can't get her draws neither! This is almost as bad as when I couldn't romance Keith David!
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna change to a male Ryder just so I can get some decent buns
Other things, the game freezing for a second when you're rolling in the nomad... Yuck
The cover system is a bit of a downgrade from previous, sometimes things you think should give you cover don't and that sucks also the cover can be very finicky
The menu systems... Not as bad as me1.... But not great
Quest log.... Better than me3s but still could use work if probably rip off witcher 3 Main Story significant side quest, random task then just be able to filter by place

I do like the shooting, multi really fun and despite contrivances I like the story so far.

Cora is the most incomprehensibly straight character I've ever seen in a work of fiction

When you first land on Eos you can jump up and run around on the hull, I did some scientific measurements and it's definitely not big enough on the outside.

I don't know why they copied the shape of the Normandy so much. There's really no need to be aerodynamic for atmospheric flight if you look at other ships in the ME universe. Given that the initiative isn't really military, they could have gone in any number of directions.

So I just had a really sweet moment with Cora, thought I had sealed the deal. Did a few missions (one of them being Peebee's loyalty mission). Kept talking to Cora in the Tempest but she didn't have any new dialogue...

...and now after finishing Peebee's loyalty mission, she just
professed her love to me in the cutest fucking way possible, basically asking to be exclusive I am assuming?

Now I don't know what to do...Not sure why I didn't get that prompt with Cora? Is it because I haven't progressed far enough into the story?

Just establishing a look I guess, like how all the Enterprises have the same basic shape. The Tempest is a sexy ship though, I'd love a nice model of it.

That was the moment I fell in love with the game as Kallon pages you saying "Please don't do that."

Heh, for me he said "Really, Ryder?"

The more I play this, the more I absolutely HATE the main character (Male). He's such a smarmy piece of shit that I can't stand any of his dialog.

I think the reason Shepard worked so well in ME1-3 is that they were pretty neutral, and it was only your choices that determined if she/he responded jokingly/angerly/peacefully. It was the other characters that added most of the flavor to the game

You're the Pathfinder which seems like a pretty fucking serious job and your father just died and your sister's condition isn't great (at the start at least) and you're just cracking terrible jokes and making light of every encounter you possibly can. I try to choose the most technical responses I can and it still spits out the most annoying dialog I've heard in a game in a long time, maybe EVER in a game with voice acting.

I hope ME:A 2 is a fully new character because I honestly don't think Ryder can be salvaged.

I haven't finished the main story, so maybe they'll address it this game, but I feel that they are laying the groundwork for very interesting politics in the next game.

The Milky Way races can more or less coexist because they are desperate for survival. But once things settle down, I'm certain old racial resentments will come bursting out again.

As it is, there is a Krogan in the Nexus leadership and no Asari. That alone could be a meaty plot element for MEA2
I haven't finished either but it was cool to hear that little blip on one of the news announcements.

Fffffffffffffff.

Remove the Heart quest. Did the whole quest, base takedown, the whole thing, and I can't find where God damn Buxil is. Where the hell is he?

Edit: Nevermind, found it. Can't believe how terrible the map and on-screen navigation is. Might be the worst I've seen in a game.

She either waits outside on the bridge or she's also in techiix.
Thanks.

I don't hate him but I don't like him because most of your options are: A) Bad joke B) Incredibly naive response C) Cringy answer

You sealed the deal with Peebee. Don't think Cora will be an option now.

Lol all these are why I love him. He is a trollish, constantly joking jackass in every situation. It's basically how I am so I enjoy it a lot.

I do prefer having the MC be their own character instead of the surrogate that shepard was. I no longer seek to implant myself in RPGs.

I don't mind that either, but I can't remember the last time a main character with their own personality has been this bad. It's like Ryder was a failed comedian in the Milky Way and was sadly the person stuck with the Pathfinder job.

I think I had a similar reaction to Alpha Protocol's main character, but i think it made the cringy joke responses to its own category.

That was the moment I fell in love with the game as Kallon pages you saying "Please don't do that."

I tried landing the nomad on it next.

Man, either I missed this or he didn't say that for me. Now I'm angry!

Also: still only a few hours in (just got to the world after Eos). I will assume upfront that my female Ryder cannot romance Drack, which is a shame because I like him a lot more than the others (even though he too is a bit of a walking cliche), but also I am 4000% fine with him being my crotchety Krogan dad.

Ha, glad I'm not alone.

I was singing praises of the game during that entire mission. The combat was starting to click, I was honing in on a very fun Biotic build, and generally was enjoying this base assault that felt large in scale and reminiscent of something you'd see in ME2 or 3. Then I got killed during the final boss because I didn't understand the new enemy behavior and had to do that last room all over again. Music was glitched too. Checkpoint system seems really bad.

Mining is so annoying when you're driving around, you have to drive round in circles around the rough area of the mining zone until materials are detected.

I loved that place, prob my favorite because of the driving and how your crew mates started screaming and cussing when you come close to or jump over a pitfall.

Drack's scream was hilariously out of character, he was shrieking like a girl. I loved it. We on a deadline line, guys. I'm gonna take shortcuts by careening off this cliff. Hopefully the Nomad will clear it. LOL. I loved the muffled sound while exploring that rock in the Nomad since had no atmosphere. Nice touch.

I don't even bother with it anymore. I opted for the AVP skill that periodically gives you minerals every 45 mins when you collect AVP rewards on the Tempest, and haven't looked back since. Occasionally it drops you element zero and other rare elements, so good enough for me.

Is anyone else not a fan of the soft cover mechanic? I find that Ryder sometimes won't stick to an object or wall you can use for cover and will continue to stand up while against it. Highly annoying during Kett and Remnant encounters since it caused quite a few unnecessary deaths. Mass Effect 2 & 3 had it right: hit a button to manually lock yourself in place. Other than that and some of the writing, I'm really enjoying my time with the game so far. They did right by losing the fixed class system. You can come up with some pretty sick hybrid builds that keeps enemy encounters fresh and interesting.

No mention of animations at all :S

This one. It's down there in General. Not a facial animation fix but fixes the awkward "I just shat in my pants" running animation.
Running in a zig-zag pattern can result in Ryder entering an unintended animation state.

Audio may stop during play. Closing and restarting the game will restore audio.

And is this the only way to correct that? Audio shouldn't stop at ALL! What if it happens during some dramatic cutscene??? Immersion & Suspense completely lost.

Can't fix this game, it's beyond broken. Pack it up Mass effect is done boys and girls

I love all the hyperbole I have seen thrown around about this game, "beyond broken" is a new one. Guess the 40 hours I have invested then with zero game crashing bugs or issues was all just a dream. Unless your saying poor writing and animations equal "beyond broken".

Has there been messages from Bioware about a patch/fix to deal with many of the games animation bugs and glitches?

As far as I've heard, Bioware expects to talk more about post-launch support sometime around next week or after that. I'm certain they'll address some of the concerns. (But don't hold me to it) - they're definitely seeing it our way and it's mostly a question of how fast changes can be rolled out.

The Male/Male romance options in this game are disappointing.
Gil is a sweetheart, and charming, but he's not given nearly enough screen time to make this a proper romance.

So I finished the mission on Voeld with
The cardinal
, I was wondering if it was possible to complete that mission without using Jaal?
If he wasn't there to argue for letting the Angara go, then I probably would have had just blown the whole place up

This game is absolutely buggy, I finished a conversation with Drack and then was teleported to the other side of the Tempest, but I'm still finding it really enjoyable. With thew exception of Liam, who is just boring, I've found the crew members much more interesting than I had expected. Just like inquisition, I find running around on these planets to be really relaxing, even If I know that the content there may not be the most exciting. I think i'm at 20 hours, and can't wait to play more.

Also, I can't be the only one who's disappointed that you can't romance Natalie Dormer, right?

Doh, had my first hard freeze/crash.

I was just starting the Asari Ark mission and after the first conversation it went black and just froze. I couldn't even alt-tab out of it, I had to restart the computer.
