Mass murderer Breivik threatened hunger strike over Rayman Revolution

Convicted Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik threatened to go on a hunger strike unless he's given a PlayStation 3, access to more adult games, a PC and a nicer chair, the AFP reports.

Breivik was sentenced to 21 years in prison for killing 77 people in a bombing and shooting rampage in July 2011. During his trial, Breivik told a packed Oslo courtroom how he used Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to "train" for the summer shooting spree. He also defended his World of Warcraft gaming habits, saying it was a hobby and unrelated to the attacks.

In the letter, obtained by the AFP and dated Jan. 29, 2013, Breivik calls himself a human rights activist and said that the prison system was treating him "worse than an animal.

The letter makes 12 demands including the right to communicate more freely with the public, the replacement of his PS2 with a PS3, access to more adult games and a sofa or armchair.

"Other inmates have access to adult games while I only have the right to play less interesting kids games. One example is Rayman Revolution, a game aimed at three year olds," Breivik wrote in the letter, according to the AFP.

He argued that since he has behaved since his incarceration he should have access to a wider "selection of activities" than other inmates to make up for his isolation. He also asked for a PC to replace his typewriter, bemoaning the lack of technology afforded him.

"You've put me in hell ... and I won't manage to survive that long," he wrote. "You are killing me."

Officials are expected to respond to the more than year-old complaint next week.

I can't believe he tried to say he used Modern Warfare 2 to "train".

Reading Wikipedia articles on military tactics would be better training.

A mass murderer complaining about getting killed? Oh the irony.

I find it scary that it never really registers with me that this lone man killed 77 people. Seventy-seven. 77!

It's such a ridiculously staggering number that unless I really think about it I glance over it without considering the sheer magnitude and scope of such a horrific event.

Why do other inmates "get more adult games", I mean I could understand the therapeutic purpose of having video games in prisons, but why "adult" ones. That just seems bizarre.

Yeah, I'm baffled by that too.

"Oh, he killed 77 people in a brutal rampage, but let's not let him rot in prison forever...that's too harsh! He should be free after 21 years!"

What the hell.

He will never get out a few norwegian gaffers have told it a few times here.

To play devil's advocate: as ridiculous as this sounds to an American, if other inmates are getting a wider selection of games and the ability to socialize, shouldn't he at least get some of his wishes? Otherwise the whole system of less-than-punitive measures for prisoners in Norway comes into question and it really does become a civil rights issue.

But Rayman Revolution of all games? Yeesh.

this guy is such a fucking nutcase. Enjoy Rayman Revolution, that shit is a courtesy.

I believe that prison should be about rehabilitation and see no reason why videogames can't be apart of that, but this guy is just an entitled fucking mental case without any perspective whatsoever.

Not sure how much of a "human rights" activist one can be when he murdered like 70 people (if I recall). I know this story is a bit sensationalized, but it turns my stomach just to hear him making any sort of accusations about 'injustice'. I know he is delusional and crazy, and I believe in human kindness and atonement and forgiveness for one's mistakes. But this guy is a fucking lunatic. Give him nothing, stick him in a bare room and slide in two meals a day and a pot to shit in. That's clemency in his case. Complaining about his video-games and typewriter (for more Hitleresque manifestos, I'm sure)? Sounds like a hotel stay compared to the US prison system.

Fuck him.

Im a member of AUF, the labour partys youth organization he tried to kill everyone in.

Btw, for people skeptical about 21 years in prison. He will be tested for his psyce each 5 year if he has been restored. This mwans when 21 eyars has pasted, he will be tested, if he is still a sick cold blooded murderer who wants to kill people on the left side in politics, he will fail the test and need to wait 5 years till next time.

So he will never get out.
