I really wish people would take 24 hours, or at least 12, to let the dead rest in peace.

But no, we immediately gotta turn it into a gun issue or Islam issue and let everyone on Facebook now our political agenda for the billionth time, because we are obviously all eagerly awaiting to...again.

Fighting hate with hate is not the solution.

What's the point of the discussion later? Being sidelined and forgotten? Pretty sure most already forgot Christina Grimmie was shot dead 24+ hours ago, maybe if enough fuss goes on shit will change, but that would be too hopeful.

You can't wait for this, it needs to be discussed when it's unfolding.

Can we quit blaming guns now and focus on our enemy here?

Remember, Paris has strict gun control laws and ISIS still pulled off a horrific attack there.

I, for one, would like to be able to defend myself when the time comes, and I don't want to have to rejoin the military, join the police force or a national guard to do so.
Surely gun control helps with fighting off ISIS if they're getting US citizens to attack for them?

You can defend yourself just fine if we put in full background checks, waiting periods, limits on magazine capacity, and potentially prohibited AR-15's from our streets.

But fine, deflect away from guns and place this squarely on ISIS and radicalism. What would you have us do? Go on, I'll wait.

He's pointing out the irony.

The shooter is supposedly Shiite, yet he called 911 ahead of time and declared his allegiance to ISIS.

The very same ISIS who HATES Shiites, along with Sunnis that don't adhere to their strain of radical Islam.

Oh I missed that information.

To me it kind of confirms that he wanted to declared his allegiance to ISIS to get more publicity and make it a lot more than "another shooting" in the medias. It's kind of easy to get the ISIS "label" and it's a very strong "brand".

It's a battle that needs to be waged on all fronts I agree, but I'm getting tired of posts from people on here saying "if nothing happened after Sandy Hook nothing will happen now". A defeatist attitude has never won anything in life. Don't complain about it if you don't do something about it.

I agree, but you have to mobilise/rally these people. People are often defeatist alone, but they get stronger more more positive when being together and going into action. And elections as we experience they today are kind of a individualist process so it tends to isolate people politically.

France has some of the toughest gun laws and that didn't stop the Paris or Charlie Hebdo attacks did it ?

Looks like a punchline from a Trump's speech

Why not?

Sahih International: Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.

Quran 4:34

You are aware you can quote a bunch of extreme views from the bible also ? There is even a YouTube video of ppl reading them to ppl telling them it's the Quran then ppl go how barbaric then they're told it's the bible . If you want a religion without violence in writings maybe try Buddhism . The point is ppl have realize that you don't interpret them word for word . Admittedly this reviewed interpretation needs to happen more in Islam . But then you have places like Saudi with money ...

Word has it the blood ban has been lifted

Hmm, I'm going to try and donate blood tomorrow if it's still needed. I want to help my fellow Orlando people.

The hardcore right are claiming the "librral media" wanted to cover up that it was a terrorist attack when accusations were flying purely based on his name. Ridiculous.

This is an extremely senseless tragedy. It's actually kind of rational to look for something to blame, because this isn't normal and it shouldn't be normal.

Don't try and shame people who don't own guns.

If you honestly feel so bad about owning guns, then maybe you should get rid of them?

It is not that I feel bad about owning guns. I use them for hunting, here in Texas I hunt wild boar, deer. Also some small game.

I eat what I hunt.

But, I use my guns for hunting, I do not have a pistol. A lot of us gun owners are not all gung ho, buy the biggest gun because my dick is small.

It is annoying to see posters say, because I have a gun. I do not support tighter regulations. That is far from the truth. I am shamed because I have guns, and also believe in background checks. But ok, it is what it is.

ISIS is the epitome of "i made this" "no, i made this"

I'm not so sure about that. I thought that ISIS was "good" about not claiming attacks that weren't theirs. For instance, they said about the San Bernardino attacks "this wasn't organized by us but boy, are we proud of them!"

This is just some of the dumbest shit ever and something like this always gets posted. We need to talk about this. No false sense of silence based on some archaic custom is going to "make things better".

It's an awful situation, but it must be talked about, uncomfortable feelings and all.

Instead of doing the sensible thing like putting restrictions on gun ownership, we will instead implement trillion dollar surveillance networks, ban Muslims from traveling, and beef up the incompetent airport security.

As long as I get to keep my hobby.

No, and honestly even is homosexuality is a sin in the Bible I challenge anyone to find another event were more than 50 homosexuals were killed by a christian nut or any other religion that is not Islam. You may have to whip out your medieval history books or do some mental gymnastics to include the holocaust.
There's not one.

Meanwhile In busy Shanghai airport some other lone lunatic scared 4 people by throwing a bottle filled with some substance, then stabbed himself hopelessly in the neck.

I notice you're pointing to two mass shootings in France.

May I point you to our 173rd mass shooting in 164 days?

Exactly, acts of mass terrorism are rare. Literally everyday gun violence in America is way too accessible. Do we even need to bring up how many Americans are gunned down by fellow Americans versus actual terrorist?

Unless ISIS is providing passports, training, money, etc. it's not really ISIS.

Yes but they provide one essential thing : their "brand", internationally known and so they'll help with anything that suits perfectly their ideological agenda.

Part of their plan is that muslims from every non-ISIS territory "rise" against non-muslims and try to recruit those who are muslims but didn't see their "truth" yet.

It's not the same thing as the Bataclan but they have multiple knives in their pockets.

France has some of the toughest gun laws and that didn't stop the Paris or Charlie Hebdo attacks did it ?

But they do have a much lower rate of gun violence than we do. Nothing is ever going to eliminate it, but if adopting French gun laws brings our mass shooting rate down to their level, isn't that worth it?

1. Restrict people on the terrorist watchlist from access to guns.
2. Declare war on ISIS
3. Start or keep interrogating known ISIS sympathizers
4. Invade Iraq and Syria to destroy ISIS.
5. Keep those countries for ourselves as a deterrent and/or terrorist magnet to protect the homeland.
6. Anti-radical Islam advertising campaign. Show the disgusting acts on TV, and work to de-radicalize sympathizers through education.

I was shocked at the casualty totals. Horrible.

The repercussions from this will be immense with so many conflicting arguments and focuses. Xenophobia, homophobia, gun control, terrorism. It will bring out the worst and the political divide will only widen. The United States is falling apart.

No but the gun laws still prevent a lot of death and makes it much more difficult for terrorists. The entire EU (508m people) has half the amount of gun related deaths a year than the U.S thanks to strict gun laws across the entirety of the EU (and countries in Europe outside of the EU). There is undoubtedly a gun control issue in the U.S and it makes it even easier for people sympathetic to ISIS to carry out attacks. Obama has said it himself that they know of ISIS sympathisers that they can't do anything about due to NRA regulation and that there is nothing stopping them from obtaining guns. Didn't this guy obtain his guns legally as well?
