Love this show. The similarities between Graham and Krang's body are astounding

Max is an absolutely horrible leader. Probably single-handedly doomed his team, even worse than "I don't know how to cook what I suggest" Suzy.

LOL at Max just talking to the camera as the other guy comes in and tries to actually get something ready to cook.

I'm loving both Max and the Max character, and I usually hate reality show villains. Does his privileged New Yorker accent remind anyone else of Donald Trump? I guess I like him because he's genuinely a prick, he doesn't seem like a created-for-tv-villain. His "of course" response when asked if he had ever been to France was hilarious.
Suzy is far worse, she's just as arrogant, but more annoying (constantly talking about how good her food is while cooking), not as good and not as smart (who goes out of their way to suggest a dish they have never made before?).
Max probably deserves to win based on talent but of course he won't because fans hate him and no one would buy his cookbook (will there be another cookbook?).

I was going to say earlier that I think Max is going to stick around simply because of that talent, he could win or at least do well in all the single person challenges even if he can't do shit in the team challenges.

Sharone did win or finish near the top on basically everything but got cut off before the end last season.

Man that Christian guy if he's still in the show will go far. I haven't seen yesterday's / tonight's episodes but once I'm home I intend to watch them.

As much as I want to throw Max in the middle of oncoming traffic, it's obvious he'll stay around with an attitude like that. Even if he royally screws up, they'll do whatever they have to to keep him around for the entertainment/drama value alone.

Sharone wasn't too much of an asshole though he was cocky but he wasn't a douche. Max reminds me of David from last season and I agree that he won't be going home anytime soon because he does have talent but no one is going to support an asshole as a winner.

I see Christian, Suzy, Max, and Derrick as the frontrunners so far. Even though for some reason I want guiseppe to win it probably cause of the awesome accent.

They admit it: http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/06/22/masterchef-fake-crowd-shot-photo/
Reveille Productions, who produce the show along with Shine TV, told EW in a statement: “We have reviewed the footage and it’s clear that the scene was enhanced in post-production. We sincerely apologize to our viewers and hope that they still enjoyed the show.”

A spokesperson says the shot will be not be used in future episodes, and the producers stand by the claim that thousands tried out for the show.

Plus, a "bookazine" is coming: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-rele...-to-launch-masterchef-magazine-124350513.html
At 147 pages, the MasterChef bookazine includes more than 60 recipes that are featured on the show. Also included are exclusive interviews with MasterChef judges Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot along with insight from the women who hold the key to their culinary prowess, their mothers! MasterChef Season 1 winner Whitney Miller will share her favorite recipes and her new book, "Modern Hospitality with Southern Charm" along with memorable contestants featured in Season 1 and Season 2, with a special feature highlighting Season 2's 18 finalists.

A co-worker (and fellow Top Chef fan) recommended this show to me. I could really do without all the reality TV trappings.

Top Chef really doesn't prepare you for the cheese of "real" reality TV. At least Max genuinely seems to be a douche... even if it's amped up by editing (I don't entirely hold it against him... part of it is surely his age, although I wonder what his parents are like).

Most importantly, the cooking is interesting, so I'll keep watching. I could use more food porn and less drama, though. Also, I don't agree with the person who suggested Max deserves to win based on talent... I think he's clearly talented, but I think others will prove to be better.

:lol at Joe calling something "ghetto delicious."

Even more :lol at Graham Elliott's "the important thing in this challenge, is that you don't want to be in the bottom three."

Makes me mad that they ignore people completely sometimes like they are obviously there but you are not going to show us what they made? They only show the trainwrecks and the good stuff but that last episode I honestly didn't even know if guiseppe was still there.

That's just a result of it being an hour long show and the fact that there are so many chefs. They only have time to focus on the good and bad when they're still dealing with 10+ chefs.

This weeks elimination really wasn't shocking once they got down to the bottom 2. The first episode had a preview of the entire season and they showed Max in situations that he hasn't been in yet, so he was obviously going to make it through. I still can't wait for him to be kicked off.

Also that preview of the new season of Hell's Kitchen looked fantastic.

I took my gf to Red Rooster the other day (Marcus Samuelson's restaurant) and we loved it. He was there and was nice enough to take a picture with my gf

The only reason I'm looking forward to next HK season is because the restaurant I work for is in it.

I'd say there's a good chance you'll like MasterChef. The only downside is you don't have Ramsey kicking trashcans every 5 seconds and screaming "MUSH MUSH MUSH! RAW! IT'S RUBBER! WHERE IS MY RISOTTO?!?!"

The formatting is pretty similar between HK and MasterChef; you have a unique challenge that starts off the episode (and as a reward, in HK you get a cool relaxing day and in MasterChef you get something to help you in the elimination challenge) and then an elimination challenge (it's the HK-equivalent of having a dinner service). Watch a few episodes and tell us what you think :p They're both pretty dramatic too.

Ramsay is much more... "human" in this show. It's still has the reality TV trappings, but he don't blow up and ridicule the contestants.

I actually didn't expect that. Christine had obviously been crying before her confessional.

That was pretty much bullshit. Christine fucked up everything she did over the last three episodes, she was the reason they lost with the sausages (and lied about it), and she totally screwed up her well done steak whereas Max was in the ballpark on all three. Yet she's staying because she's a single mother and she cries a lot.

That steak challenge was shenanigans. I'm LTTP this season and this is the first episode I've seen, but it seemed obvious they are keeping Christine for ratings.

Again, I don't know her personality but she was crying and cursing while making her steaks, maybe she's more interesting than the 18 year old they sent home.

Still, it should be about the cooking and she FUCKED UP those steaks. HOW can your "well done" steak be bloody and you STAY???

its the same reason Whitney won last season the outcome of this show is so staged and often times the judges change their stances on certain food concepts in order to justify getting rid of contestant they don't deem marketable.

No way, all three of his steaks were wrong temp wise. She only really missed the final one.
Sad to see him go though.

I was actually surprised for this same reason, but for Max. The show has been pimping the Max and Suzy rivalry to ridiculous extents, I was absolutely shocked they eliminated him. He was a little asshole, but it was decent reality television.

I'm glad Max is gone, arrogant SOB right from the start of the show. No doubt the kid has skill though, i will give him lots of credit.

this episode pissed me off.

I really thought the judges were gonna pull the switcheroo and put Esther in the elimination challenge regardless of what she said after they asked her to put herself in. The judges just winged the actual elimination. No way Max should've gotten sent home.

I just wanted to chime in and say that Aussie Masterchef is > US Masterchef. Although, I DO love Gordon Ramsey.

I hated Max on the show to be honest. His persona seemed overly produced, I can almost guarantee the dude is nothing like that in reality.

Yeah, everyone who's recapped has been confused by the incorrect narration and editing. She lost by lots if your video went out.

I think it should have been Esther vs Christine but I do think Max deserved to go home based on his steaks because he only did the last one right where as she was closer on the other two. But it is just bullshit because they gave Esther the easy way out I don't think Esther or Christine will last long though so it really doesn't matter.

Wouldn't the Max vs. Suzy rivalry be much better for ratings? In general Max would've been better because everyone hated him. Reality shows always want to keep the villain around because they cause constant conflict.

I don't know why some think that it should've been Esther and Christine in the challenge. At the end of the day it was Max and Christine that completely botched the sausages. They screwed up the main ingredient so they should've been in the fire.

I'm hoping that Suzy is the next to go. She's every bit as obnoxious as Max was and she actually seems to be even more arrogant.

Why the heck is that black guy still on the show then? I don't think he has said a word all season but I catch glimpses of him once in a while. Who the fuck is this guy? Max was hilarious. He shall be missed.

Gordon is so much better on his British shows than the American counterparts.

He's the guy that made an Italian dish in the French challenge. He dodged the bullet because Angel didn't even cook her dish and Mark put raw flour in his.

I wish this was like the first season of Hell's Kitchen where Gordon was absolutely brutal and callous but still respected the contestants when they pulled their weight. I don't know if Max is really such an asshat or if Christine is that much of an emotional train wreck because it feels kind of fake.

I hope Ben (he almost never appears in the episodes but damn he has weirdly awesome hats) wins.
