Work hours have swapped around so i'm not in early tomorrow morrning now. Hoorah, i can stop up all night watching GE coverage. Love Dimbleby

I've met him, really nice guy, was at a question time where IDS was on the panel...

security was mega tight and IDS was bought in last and was the only panel member to be ushered off before anyone was allowed to even stand up...

rest of the panel came to speak to audience...

and they wonder why people always say, they just don't understand.... it's because normal people are kept at a arms length and never allowed near them

Try this, it may help if you're torn between two parties: https://voteforpolicies.org.uk

I'm voting Green in an area that is safely Labour.

Where are you based?

Also, someone link driver to that online survey that tells you your alignment based on policies

What issues do you care about most?

I was going to vote conservative as I was thinking things are ok they way they are (for me). The more I mull it over though, I'm thinking labour but worry about a coalition with the SNP and UKIP all the bad press they get.

I think the area I live in is firmly UKIP anyway, so dunno. I'll check out the link thanks.

Tbh I don't think anywhere is firmly UKIP - I think the only place with a high chance of returning a UKIP candidate is Clacton. Outside of there, they will get some high vote shares but I don't think anyone's expecting they'll get more than a handful of seats at even the most optimistic.

You also don't have to worry about Labour going into coalition with UKIP. The SNP, though, would certainly be relied upon for any Labour government to function, though, so if that bothers you...

Just voted. My constituency has it all

Our polling station had police officers. Tower Hamlets. So no surprise there.

Labour has a safe seat here. But more than that the presiding MP and favourite:

* She's a she.
* She's Asian,
* She's Muslim.
* She's genuinely locally brought up - went to secondary school a couple hundred yards from the polling station. (Though I'm pretty sure she currently lives in the neighbouring borough now.)

A rare thing indeed.

I was vacilating between the lib dems and the greens but voted for the lib dems in the end since they're a unionist party.

I despise the leadership of labour and I question what the state of the tories will be when dave steps down - I suspect a lurch to the right, so I can't vote for them.

Have you had anybody asking if they put a tick or a cross yet? When I did it there was at least one every half hour all day :)

No not that but I have had multiple people do the "ink not pencil" thing (guys it ain't clever, there are people here who have done this many times that just think you look like a twat) and one that asked where the polling box was going.

Very worrying after reading a report in a newspaper about people following polling boxes :/
Will be the same idiots that think the referendum was rigged >_>

EDIT: nvm, someone just done the tick/cross thing >_<

He got the whole book thrown at him. Good riddance.

In fairness, I'd always hated that that position was created. I still think it got voted in because of voter apathy, rather than genuine interest.

To say I'm biased against him is an understatement. So I am one of those folks who think their BBC license fee was well worth it for their Panorama investigation. Seems the courts agreed too.

Aside from Nukes. I think I completely agree with Green on all issues. People say you get more conservative as you grow older, but I am getting more leftist as I grow older.

Voting in N.Ireland can be a depressing affair. I want N.Ireland to remain part of the UK but my views are typically left leaning. So who do I vote for, as DUP and UUP are the biggest parties in that spectrum but are right wing? I'm not voting for DUP, so I guess my vote later will either got to UUP who's not as right wing, or the Alliance party which would be the Lib Dem equivalent.

It's pretty much a case of, 'Well I don't necessarily like Party A, but I dislike Party B even more so, so I guess I'll vote for A.'

Ooh, Harry Gosling is my polling station. Gonna pop in on my way home.

Found guilty and forced to step down I believe.

Go read the judgement if you have time, it's fucking hilarious.

One of the defence witnesses for Rahman came up and said that he had seen nothing untoward at the polling station when he went to vote. The prosecution checked and said witness had voted by post.

Voted. There were a couple of Labour people and an SNP there, no presence from the Tories, Lib Dems or Socialists, though of course early hours.

What a strange country to live in.
Months of the TV news being nothing but wall to wall election and then on election day they can't talk about it. Not even allowed paper reviews because we might see the front page of a paper that will be available for all to see on the shelves of every shop in the land....I bet the broadcasters wish Kate had kept the kid in until today so they actually had something to talk about until 10pm.

Spanish domestic football has been suspended. That's pretty big, no?

I know, I have never understood the logic myself, it is like a vacuum....

so now I have to look at repeated video of Cameron arriving at his polling station

I will be voting Labour. Least bad of the realistic main pair. I just cannot stand the Tories and most of what they represent. In many ways I am Green (by no means all), but I cannot override my fear of the right to vote properly. A sad thing.

Has to be Alliance, surely? Both the DUP and UUP are pretty abhorrent.

The broadcasters probably think it's a blessed relief that they get to take a day off talking about the GE before Hell Night and the fallout thereafter!

Just voted Labour all the way, Gerry Sutcliffe was a fantastic MP for us for over 20 years and I felt obliged to repay the faith after his retirement with the tried and tested. Expect Labour victory here with UKIP at betting odds of 20/1 getting second.

That's where I'm leaning towards at the moment. Sure as hell won't be a vote for DUP from me, after the shit they've come out with around homosexuality and Muslims. It's like being in the dark ages.

And you had to export that quirk to the other side of the world. :p

I've been lurking here for a while and keen to see the outcome. England will always be my home away from home.

I have done, it lead to the most stupid argument I've ever had, which demonstrated why I hate a lot of liberals (even though I am one).

So some people I was discussing the verdict with were adamant that it was the result of Islamophobia. They said examples like that were taken out of context or used as excuses to justify a result based upon hatred. They absolutely refused to accept that this man might have done anything wrong, purely because he is a Muslim.

I fucking hate university student liberals (yes I know that's hypocritical.)

I'm only voting because my gf is making me I don't trust labour after last time and I know green can't win so I feel like my vote is wasted.

Voted early this morning. Someone give me a sticker or a star or a cookie or something.

Second general election in a row in which one of the officials at my polling station was wearing a Conservative rosette. Alright, it was plain blue and didn't say "Conservative" on it but it's hardly likely they're pulling for the Greens, is it? Say if that made me genuinely uncomfortable - which it did - who would I report such a thing to?

Ashcroft National:
CON 33 (+1)
LAB 33 (+3)
LIB 10 (-1)
UKIP 11 (-1)
GRN 6 (-1)
Dates 5th-6th
N=3,028

Pretty nervy times for the pollsters, they've all basically converged around the 34% for both parties. At least in 2010 you had a real spread of polling so one of them was bound to be right. As it is you've essentially got the pack on 34% with a couple at 35% and a couple at 33%. If they're wrong they're all wrong.

A slimey Blairite is going to walk it in my constituency. Tossed a coin between TUSC and Green and Green won. Enjoy my vote, Green person!

Will be voting after work. My girlfriend is over tonight, she gets bored of about 5 minutes of political comedy so fuck knows how she'll cope with all-night Dimbleby. Hoo-boy.

That is bullshit right there

You should complain about that

Never voted before, but the Tories have pissed me off to the point where I'm compelled to actually do it... even if my vote is nigh on useless in the grand scheme of things.

Do I need to take my "voteing card" thingy?

Nope, all you need is to remember your name and address :)

Thanks very much. I'll send them something in writing. I just think it's remarkable that it's happened two elections in a row - and with two different people (last time it was a woman, this time a man).

I voted Green. UKIP will finish ahead of them in my safe Tory constituency but I hope they finish ahead of the BNP, unlike last time. This fucking constituency, honestly.

Edit: Actually, there wasn't a BNP candidate on the ballot this time. Hurray, I guess.
