No one was clamouring to see Sandow booked for BOLA, 16 Carat, SSS16, etc, but you can be damn sure they'd be clamouring to see Claudio - him returning to the indies would be infinitely more of a big deal than some fucking failed comedy character showing everyone just how right WWE were to fire him.

And Claudio Castagnoli has a cachet on the indies from the 2000s that Sandow doesn't have. Both he and Rhodes are basically products of the WWE developmental system, and that makes their long term appeal on the "cool" indies harder to sustain despite their name values.
