Alright kid, I feel sorry for you. That's akin to:

"i look at the ps3 as last gen because its not like the controller is any better than the NES's"

Although, perhaps a more fair thing to say is--"better than the ps1s"--in which case, it isn't really--it's slightly worse--no rumble. So, there kid, good job...you've just made a precedent that allows me to tout the "fact" that the PS1 is a newer gen console than the PS3. Congratulations.

Nope, they have HD graphics. Anyway, graphics isn't what makes a machine "next gen". It's the "cycle" that they are released in. If a new video game system were released next year with graphics comparable to the N64, it'd still be considered next gen.

DS vs. PSP--they're in the same generation, even though one has N64esque graphics and one has PS2 graphics, simply because they are from the same cycle.

And even if it WEREN'T based on the cycles, the Wii's controller functionality alone would make it next gen. Even though it's graphics aren't heavily upgraded (but noticeably so), the controller is DEFINITELY next gen. Actually, it's above and beyond.

Even though the Wii doesn't have what the PS3 and 360 have in graphics, it has something more important that neither of them have--and that's the Wii remote.

By your opinion, it may not be better. However, by majority opinion, it is. And even if it weren't so, it's uniqueness still makes it next gen styled.

RE4 is still a good looking game after two years. RE3 after six months wasn't

Probably not wise to use this particular precedent as the PS1 shipped with a controller that had neither rumble nor analog sticks.

Yeah, agreed: RE4 is still stunning. I was watching someone play it again on the PS2 at the Metreon today. Amazing game. I need to pop it in again.

I think, after all the people who said that Amazon.co.jp preorders were an accurate measure of console demand in Japan... can we finally say with absolute certainty that preorder numbers and Famitsu Most Wanted lists are not an accurate way of predicting sales success? After all, PS3 preorders were kicking Nintendo's ass.

Considering the biggest Wii games worldwide are GameCube port Twilight Princess and the simple-looking Wii Sports and Wii Play, I don't think that's a concern. Hell, with those games as the immediate comparison, I'd say people will notice much more improvement in Wii graphics over the next 2 or 3 years than on X360 and PS3.

I'm happy that japanese gamers are loving wii sports and wii play too, hopefully it will convince some companies to make really innovative games.

I bet you he thinks its becuase of the waggle gimmick. I for one agree with him.

It had decent sales at launch in the states, but the demand has died down alot. Hell, I saw 5people returning Wii's today at my local Miejer, and all of them said it was becuase they thought the waggle-wand was a gimmick. True story, look it up.

I'm glad sales are so great. nothing in the stop 10 is below 130K. Very nice.


I wish there were some more PS3 titles there as well. That would be reassuring that JPN isn't becoming a....heh.

I also wish at BD stayed there longer. That would have been some nice and friendly Japanese support for a nice and friendly Japanese game.

there's not enough PS3 hardware out there for a game to chart that high yet, unless it was a game EVERYONE wanted!
