I only specifically keep track of a few Japanese DS titles. Sorry. Also, not to slight cvxfreak or Link to the Past, but I consider Dalthien to be the go-to guy for Japanese PSP and NDS software sales. If you need something right now, though, your best bet is probably to just use last week's Famitsu's Top 30 sales.

None taken. I'm actually not a sales archivist. :)

Pokemans chart updated - corrections welcome!

Na Launch + Europe launch = 4 million more units.

Diamond and pearl may pass original. I think it can.

Edit nm maybe both launches = 2 million units.

I wonder if any Pokemon game or any other game for that matter will top that 10 million # that Pokemon Red/Green did.

FF3 is going for the million, its interesting how its selling to non-gamers, but since its so difficult, i dont think they will like it :)

Maybe the non-gamers will like difficult games? /flex

Quick question, is Mario Kart DS still in the top 50? And how much has it sold to date?

DS is on its way to catch PS2 in million sellers, and even PSone, where the DS really has a disadvantage is in the medium hits camp, lets say in the 300,000 sellers range, I want to see this situation improved

right, so it has too many million sellers and not enough 300k sellers?

I wouldn't worry to much about the DS not getting enough of those kinds of successes in its lifetime.

GBM 1,273
GC 488
DS 260
GBA 12
Xbox 8

360 held on well enough.

PSP on the other hand...doing worse than in the US.

(Well, so is the PS2, but thats different)

Ugh, PSP is slowly fading near its all-time low(which I believe is ~18,500).

DS looks to be coming back to earth as well, though it has a long ways.

if by coming back to earth you mean, continuing to sell out every week, then yes, it is.

Barf_the_Mog

powerless or are they? o_O
Right before Pokemon was released I was expecting some +400k weeks...stepping back for a second, I have to remind myself that the DSL has consistantly sold over 100k units since its launch.

The problem is, some games sold better on GBA than on DS:

Kirby (the new Kirby DS will sell better)
Mushiking
Starfi
Yu-Gi-Oh
Hamtaro
Yoshi
Power Pro Kun
Magical Vacation
Prince of Tennis
Rockman Zero
Sonic Advance
Gundam
Metroid

Although the DS has some incredible hits GBA never had, so maybe I'm still understimating it

I guess that raises 2 questions for me.

1) How can you tell they're selling to non-gamers as opposed to gamers?

2) At what point during the course of them buying actual games do you have to start calling them "gamers" instead of "non-gamers"

5. NDS New Super Mario Bros. 51541 / 315716 (typo on Famitsu's page, I think)

The number is 3,150,716, and the number is correct on Famitsu. They report numbers in the tens of thousands. So the number is 315 ten thousand and 716.

or 3,150,716

The other million+ sellers all have "<three numbers> <Japanese symbol> <four numbers>." NSMB didn't. I'm fine with the number, but is it customary for the leading zero on the last four digits to be dropped?

Edit: Updated the list. Thanks, cvxfreak and Dalthien. :)

Yeah - it's strange for us, but it is customary. As I said, they report numbers in the tens of thousands. So the numbers after the symbol are what is left after the tens of thousands are counted. So if the number is 2,651,255, it will say 265<symbol>1255. If the number is 2,650,003, then the number will be 265<symbol>3.

That symbol is the Sino-Japanese character "MAN" which means 10,000. You take the number to the left of it, multiply it by 10,000 and then add the numbers to the right.

So if a game sells 345[MAN]567 units, then it sold 345 units x 10,000 + 567, or 3,450,567.

315[MAN]716 = 315 x 10000 + 716 = 3,150,716

Only six digits appear for a game that's supposed to have seven when the thousands-digit is zero, thus only three numbers will appear on the right side instead of four since all numbers below 1000 are 3 digits.

The Sino-Japanese counting system has the English equivalent of ones, tens, hundreds and thousands (ichi, juu, hyaku, sen) but Japanese goes to "man" which is 10,000 while English retains the "thousand" counter until we reach a million. So one million in Japanese is 100 x 10,000 (hyaku-man).

Pokemon Emerald is currently at #33 two years after release. :)

Yep, and that's thanks to it and the other GBA games being crucial to catching all the Pokemon. It's probable that FireRed and LeafGreen are still within the top 100 after all these years.

Does Famitsu provide numbers for the games below the top 30?

Of course, that's what the Japan Top 100 is/was. :)

Too bad I don't have them anymore.

I was only familiar with the top 100 for the biannual and annual tracking. Didn't realize they were doing it on a monthly basis, too.

Shame we can't get that, too. That'd be really useful for keeping up on a lot of the games that are still selling decently but not exceptionally week on week.

Let's not forget

Advance Wars
MegaMan Battle Network
Licnesed games

It's very upsetting to see the drop from GBA to DS especially in Japan and some cases US (like Sonic, Metroid, Kirby etc). I really wish gamers would wisen up

I've been amazed at how this title has managed to hang in there. Tetris has always been a staple of handheld gaming, but I didn't imagine it would have the staying power it has put forth thus far. I wouldn't put 1 million in lifetime sales past it with a possible holiday boost on the horizon.
