I somehow doubt that. Though like I say to GCN fanboys all the time, "keep the hope alive."

Are you trying to say Nintendo wouldn't make SSB DS at all?

seriously, if the stocks come back in this coming week, then i can imagine an absolute frenzy.
I sure it will sell really, really well. It just won't do 600,000 in a week. There are no new games to drive the frenzy.

GC's had very successful holidays as well. It's normal span sales were nothing to brag about, like the PSP's.
I know. But psp does well in japan without software vs GC 1st party stuff. Not only that, sells are much, much better around the world than japan. GC didn't sell like that worldwide. Either way, lots of better games are on the way and should keep HW sales around atleast 100000 throughtout the year.

The GC didn't have Japanese porn movies to keep everyone busy until new games came out. ;)

Well I don't think so. They've proven that the DS is just slightly less powerful then the N64 and I don't think it'd be able to handle that kind of action in fully 3D. SM64 was one of the first games made for the system, but SSB was made much later when Nintendo and HAL both had much more experience with the hardware. I don't think Nintendo will make a 2D SSB so I think the chances of it appearing on the DS are quite slim. I also think that's why they made JSS, which is based off manga so nobody would care if it was 2D.

And :lol @ pixelbox.

Interesting....and WRONG. If Nintendo can do multiplayer on Mario Kart DS without slowdown, I doubt SSB DS will give much trouble. I mean hell, we got Jump Superstars already, for Pete's sake! The only thing keeping Nintendo from going through with this is how the PSP is doing. If the PSP seems like it will die out soon, Nintendo won't bother wasting resources. If the PSP starts picking up steam, THEN Nintendo will know it has to go through with SSB.

I hope the PSP doesn't die out too quickly. It's good to have an enemy. They awaken sleeping giants.

It just has better textures. They've proven that they are able to make games look better then their N64 counter-parts even if they DS isn't as powerful as it. But technically SSB wasn't so much about the looks, but about the abundance of action going on upon the screen as once.

And a better polygon count. And I don't remember, but possibly framerate as well. I think the specs of the DS have gotten people to agree that it's more capable than the N64, although I don't fully remember what the consensus is.

I've asked the same questions my-self, and all conclusions I've seen prove the the N64 is more powerful, just slightly. The DS has some advantages over the N64 technically, but not in raw power.

Bingo. I mean, look at the GBA. Without anyone to compete against, Nintendo (well at least EAD) hardly developed jack shit for it. Now with the PSP around, we have a new Mario platformer and all sorts of goodies coming from Nintendo. :)

Can someone do Iwata and Shiggy riding a DS ALA the pilot riding the nuke in Dr Strangelove?

Third parties, analysts, journalists, etc. will soon realize the doomed Nintendo has created a fantastic business model. Sure there will always be more technological products in the competition. Only nowdays, you don't build success on products but on business models .

With an almost direct ROI, the DS/Revolution combo is poised to generate tremendous profit in 2006. Should be about time to buy some Nintendo actions :D .

The crazy/genius thing is that the DS seems like it was fairly cheap R&D-wise and a relatively low amount of thought went into it, yet it rewarded Nintendo so many things:

1. a competitor to the PSP
2. a breather between GBA and the next GB so that they could develop a more powerful handheld
3. an expanded market that will have at least some effect on Rvltn sales
4. Profit.
5. new franchises
6. perhaps most importantly, an experiment with new gameplay ideas that helped them develop the Rvltn, e.g. whereas the DS offers 2D control that is not pre-determined by buttons, pads, and sticks, the Rvltn offers the 3D equivalent of this (with the HUGE advantage of not being bound by having to touch something all the time)

Your 6th point is worth to highlight. The DS is indeed an experimental laboratory for Revolution games. And we can expect it to work the other way around: some Revolution games will also make their way to the DS.

Never use the old DS design! Like the Philips CD-I Zelda games, it needs to be buried & forgotten...

Ok, it's not that bad, but still...

Never forget! I'm Dumb!
It is more powerful than the n64. However, it has a fixed polygon limit whereas you could trade framerate for polygons on the n64 I believe.

Holy shit! Nintendo FTW! It really goes to show just how different Japan is compared to the rest of the world when it comes to video games. I like their style though.

N64 had some more flexibility on 3d acceleration and support for bilinear filtering. Other then that, DS spanks it silly in pretty much every area I can think of, especially in featureset.

DoA4 isn't on Dengeki Top50 o_O from 11 to ...

Really amazed at DS success...tetris, pokemon and mario + new model...

Is Nintendo buying enough Chinese factories? :lol

DS for TEH DOOM

:asd:

Come on Nintendo distribute more DS!!!

I do not get why people are happy. The trend of the sales curve shows that the DS will be at zero in a few days. Meanwhile, the PSP is showing great increasing trend.

Easter is finished.

I wonder if this is the most photoshopped video game picture since Reggie. It's goddamn hilarious even BEFORE the photoshops come out. :lol

^ miyamoto doesn't even look real there.

It was about this time last year that the psp was outselling the DS for whatever few weeks it had.

that was before easter had arrived...

...and never left.
