As for beyond that, with the way things are getting announced these days, especially for Japan, it's not like we know about everything coming out in Q2. PS3/PSP don't look like they'll have a bad Q1 in Japan at all and SCE could have a game or 2 tucked away for Q2, right? Now if you want to rant about this wait till the last minute to reveal your cards strategy I'm with you 100%. There's good and bad sides to it obviously, but sometimes there aren't even any cards to reveal and we don't find out until it's too late to say much.
Yes, but there's a few kinds of waiting, Nintendo showed a fuckload of titles in that TGS video that we haven't heard again, so we know they are coming but they are waiting till the last minute to show them. Now SCE full lineup is just what I wrote, Demon's Souls coming next week with Killzone 2 for Golden Week and Gran Turismo 5, on the PSP Enkaku coming next week, with Resistance, year-old Saru Senki, Diamond and lol, Gran Turismo 4 Portable. They don't even have PS2 games coming up. They have 0 coming from May to December, how many brand new games should we expect them to announce and release in this timeframe?

Well, I am just reiterating what I read on other locations.

I will import it pretty soon and give full detailed impressions later.

With that said, when did you get tagged?

That's nice, if they don't announce a EU release I'll import a copy too.

About my tag, I have no idea, I just noticed it too. It's not great, but at least I'm not a junior member anymore (I think?). I don't know why I got it :lol

Fixed January link; you accidentally pointed it to the December 2002 list.

EDIT: Doing a general archive.org check for any URLs beginning http://www.f-ism.net/guest/datastock/ , here are the results. First thing I checked were ones that appeared to be weekly software data. They were... with the interesting change that instead of dropping off at 30, it continues with full numbers through 50. Only covers late 2002 - early 2003, though.

Example
Famitsu.com Top 30, week of 2002-10-17
f-ism.net Top 50, week of 2002-10-17

There's also an extra column that shows a percentage which translates to "Digestability". I think it's a more detailed version of the little running man icons shown in the regular Top 30 lists; I notice that the higher the percent is in the Top 50, the faster the man runs in the Top 30.

Digestability is generally percentage sellthrough when it comes to machine translations.

bttb, you're awesome.

The asian markets are much bigger than I thought., especially HK. Now I can see better how Sony shipped 136m PS2s worldwide.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
I just thought about this, but after the Yakuza 3/SF IV/RE5 trio in Feb/March we don't know anything about any major HD 3rd party projects in Japan aside from the Final Fantasy duo, correct?

Not making a point per se just hadn't realized it. Wonder if we'll be seeing some announcement soon, or if the handheld twins/Wii are going to get that support now that this initial run of HD projects are just about done.

The problem with other regions was the attach rate - compared to average console in Asia outside of Japan, even PSP is a software giant.

I suppose we can expect a new Bleach game and some small games (Patapon 3 :/ ) for psp.
They announced and released Demon's Souls (PS3) within 4 months so it's possible they have some unnanounced games for 2009.

Is there a Playstation Day this year?

Well, there's stuff we know is coming even though it's not announced, or announced stuff that may not be too huge. HD projects do seem to be mostly down to three categories, though: the every-year iterations (Winning Eleven, Dynasty Warriors), the reliable-but-not-often series (Devil May Cry, Metal Gear), and the not-very-big fillers (Quantum Theory, Dead Rising 2). I've argued that PS3 development for Japan doesn't have to be a losing proposition. But "rightsizing" definitely doesn't allow for a big slate of everything a la PS2; you have to choose and budget projects carefully.

Actually 50. Sorry, I counted Fatal Frame IV. It's actually awkward to see those numbers. The comparison is not in favor of Nintendo, it actually made me go "wtf" when I read carefully.

So weird.

To add something to the conversation.

GCN has 38 games below 25k

Wii has 33 games below 25k but the list is incomplete (there are games in this list with >25k sales by now)

3rd party support has been pretty poor on the Wii so far with a few exceptions. PS3 has for the most part gotten the majority of high quality support. 2009 looks better though.

Smoker do you count a release and its best/player's choice re-release as two games?

Because then the average is screwed

Much great sales numbers info that have been posted here lately, thanks alot to everyone who supplied these numbers here! :)

And i noticed that Kirby Super Star Ultra for the DS passed 1 million copies sold (Famitsu number) this week (well.. last week). Much congratulation to Nintendo with another million seller on the DS! :)

Hell, Alfa Systems should probably do the PSP main Tales. They did Tales of Innocence, and that wasn't so bad.

They also ported (redid with Sega) Phantasy Star Portable to the PSP, so on that front Alfa is becoming one of the major players on the PSP.

Yeah, but actually, I think there are enough dudes here that keep an updated list of various sales, like Panther and JJ. So, it's not necessary.

NDS - Lost in Blue 8.550

This can't be right? There's no way the squeal would sell so much more then the original, and that they would make two sequels to a 8,550 selling games, they aren't idea factory.

Lost in Blue appeared in the top 30 one week, 2005-08-22, at 18th place and sold 8,550. It never appeared in the annual top 500 which bottomed out at 15,244. It almost certainly did not get a shipment after 2005, so its lifetime sales are below that number.

Lost in Blue does really well in the west. It's basically greenlit for international release at this point (like Castlevania).

Going back and getting the Media Create threads isn't a big deal, but all the non-standard threads with great data (e.g. Jonnyram's recent 360 software update thread) get lost to the sea...
