Nagoshi is the king (and loves Whiskey, which shows excellent taste). Now I hope Sega comes to their senses and find a way to localize Yakuza.

So how is Yakuza Kenzan related to the rest of the series?
wikipedia:

Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan! (龍が如く 見参!) is a spin-off in the Ryū ga Gotoku video game series known as Yakuza in the western market. The game was developed and published by Sega for PlayStation 3[2]. It was first unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show 2007[3] and first released in 2008.

Because it is the third installment in the Yakuza series it was often referred by the media (and confused with) Yakuza 3, which is Yakuza 2s actual sequel released one year after Kenzan!. This spin-off episode is not set in modern day Tokyo as the original saga does, but rather in Kyoto during the Edo period, in 1605.

Sega, just release Kenzan in the west already, please!!

Yeah, I understood that part... I'm just curious if we play as the main series' ancestors or something. :D

It's like the same actors/characters in a new setting.

Has Demon's Souls been 4 or 5 weeks in the top 20? It's probably close to 90k with MC charts.

Famitsu Sales: 02/23 - 03/01
01. [PS3] Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (Sega) - 357,000 / NEW

Yay! Good good. MC is tracking it higher, now show me those legs!

02. [PSP] Shin Sangoku Musou: Multi Raid (Koei) - 227,000 / NEW
Looking good!

10. [360] Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope (Square Enix) - 20,000 / 186,000
Expected, though I hoped for 300k LTD looks like it won't reach that. 200k plus is good for an xbox 360 game. Blue Dragoon is the best selling game so far, right?

14. [PSP] Kiniro no Corda 2 f (Koei) - 16,000 / NEW
Yes!! I remember the first one not charting, glad to see those kind of games selling more than before now.

18. [NDS] Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (Square Enix) - 10,000 / 181,000
200k within reach, hang in there!

19. [PSP] Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (Konami) - 10,000 / 187,000

Another 200k contender, is that good for a PES game on the psp?

24. [PS3] Street Fighter IV (Capcom) - 8,200 / 111,000

It's still alive!

25. [360] Way of the Samurai 3 (Spike) - 7,900 / NEW
Quite no where near how much the ps3 version sold, but I guess because it's a late port and all.

27. [PSP] Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 (Bandai Namco) - 7,200 / 296,000

So close to 300K!

Thanks, I was looking for a list of top 10 1st week sales on the PSP.

Wow, SF4 dropped like a rock. Glad to see Mario RPG 3 is doing well though... would love to see the demographic numbers on that. Last I heard the ads were nearly all females playing the game, right?

I think North America will save SF4 like it saved NMH. Unfortunately, it's on the wrong systems to have any sort of legs, so it's not going to last long.

I think when a game is planned for PSP features instead of a merely PS2 port, with currently huge userbase in Japan, it can sell well.
I also expect good numbers for Sengoku Basara PSP.

Taiko Wii is up to 424K. It's on track to be the best selling Taiko, if its legs hold out.

the first Taiko on PS2 is around 740k, i don't think Taiko Wii can't sell so well... probably it will match the second title, around 580k

I wasn't sure about nº 10 and that's why I didn't list it but I think it's Final Fantasy Tactics with 170k copies sold

Yep, it seems pretty obvious. we'll have to wait and see if publishers also think that way.

I'm not so sure about Sengoku Basara, it's a 2vs2 fighting game so I don't expect huge numbers

i'm thinking if it has a bump for golden week it has a shot at being the biggest 3rd party game so far this gen

Wouldn't that make the entire top ten spinoffs and/or late ports? I wonder if this is typical of handhelds in general (with exception of DS I guess).

Think of it as Monty Hall.

I remember when he got a a Japanese adult film actress to promote Yakuza 2. It was surprisingly classier in comparison to that.

Interesting how nearly all games in that list are relatively new ie. released in the last 1.5 years.

Yeah but if you look at the weekly sales on Josh's site, it displayed long long legs. And Taiko Wii has started stronger and is so far displaying similiar legs.

Oh and to the other poster asking about beating DQ:Swords- that is an absolute lock. It will do it by the middle of April.

No, its probably more like a 1k increase- that 22K number is Famitsu. The leaked MC number is 18K.

And btw that number makes a hell of a lot more sense than 12K. :lol :lol

Nintendo is still in bad shape, but at the very least numbers have stabilized a bit.

It depends. I'm sure MS more than made up that difference in money hats. Plus developing on the PS3 would have raised dev costs considerably and pushed the game back even further.

Plus sales in America would more than likely be higher on 360 compared to PS3.

What are the SO4 sales in America?

By comparison, the first DS Taiko hasn't passed 10k in a week since 12/31/07, when it broke 300k, and it is currently over 500k. Taiko Wii has been hitting a pretty consistent 60k a month with no signs of slowing.

Once (if?) it starts to trend below 10k weekly, we might have a better idea of its heading.

3. Dissidia: Final Fantasy - 503k (Spin-off)

Well they have been in bad shape, but we had figured last week that the stable area for them with no games was 18-20k

The fact it increased at least 1k is far better than decreasing, especially given all the RIP Nintendo posts in the last thread

The second leaked number is from a site that has been pretty reliable. The first one, not so much. And given that Famitsu sales at 22K, I find it a lot more likely that the first leak missed a digit.

We've still got a couple of years before we can call that bet, sp. I'm nowhere near as confident as I was at the time, but the Wii is pulling massive months in EU and NA, so hey, who knows.
