I just noticed how bad Way of the Samurai 3 360 bombed. Release both PS3/360 versions in the states and I'll buy both, bastards.
But Schofield added that it was good for health of the whole industry to have three successful home consoles in the market. "I love having the three major machines like that."

Huge initial investment with BD for 205k or so, then the big thump that LO made, then Eternal Sonata, Tales, IU, TLR, and now SO4...which will probably sell about 220k. So after all that, marginal increase.
So given all those additional consoles sold since BD launched, what are they buying?

The main thing that I notice is that Microsoft only seem interested in going after the niche JRPG audience of Japan. What about the Yakuza audience? What about the MGS audience? Why haven't Microsoft done more to secure franchises outside of JRPG genre since if they can get tri-Ace to basically go exclusive for an entire gen on their absolute small niche console in the region then they could have surely secured more from other genres that the Japanese like as well.Y2Kev said:If you look at Microsoft's strategy, which was to cultivate a larger userbase through the consistent "priming" of the RPG pump, this has to be a pretty resounding thump.

DMeisterJ said:I just don't get SE. You have three relative 'tanks' (TLR, IU [I know MS owns the IP], and now this) and none of them are multi-plat. Yet you decide to Multi-plat FFXIII. I mean, why isn't everything multi? Make every game PS360 like Capcom, so that TLR, SO4 and FFvsXIII can achieve nice worldwide sales. But alas, I guess wada needs to learn his lesson on his own.

If SO4 isn't out on PS3 within a year, you can call Wada an idiot then.

Takuhi said:Why are you so sure that TLR and SO4 will never come out for PS3? If you had the 360 versions of your games ready early (because of UE3 problems on the PS3 and tri-Ace's past experience with the 360, presumably) wouldn't you take MS up on a deal to release those versions first in exchange for MS footing the multi-million dollar marketing bills? You'll still get those PS3 sales later.
If SO4 isn't out on PS3 within a year, you can call Wada an idiot then. But based on what we know, Squeni seems to have acted pretty rationally. I don't see them losing a ton of PS3 sales because they released the 360 versions first, and they would have to lose a LOT of sales to make up for the free marketing campaigns (and who knows what other support) that they got from MS.

Also, remember tri-Ace's help-wanted ads for people to handle PS3 ports? And the way the game was clearly multiplatform (being featured in Famitsu PlayStation and whatnot) before it was announced as 360 only?
That would be really, really odd if it didn't come out for PS3 eventually.
MHP2 is a port from MH2 with some changes therefore it isn't a spinoff.Flying_Phoenix said:Uh...
So a game needs to be moderately heavy in plot to be considered a spin-off?
So you'd agree with me that Guitar Hero: On Tour for the DS and Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party for the Wii aren't spin-off's of those series?
