01. Fire Emblem DS (DS)
02. Rythem Tengoku Gold (DS)
03. Phantasy Star Portable (PSP)
04. Tales of Vesperia (360)
05. Dragon Quest V (DS)
06. Sangokushi Taisen Ten (DS)
07. Summon Night 2 (DS)
08. Wii Fit (Wii)
09. Power Pro Baseball 15 (PS2)
10. Soul Calibur 4 (PS3)

PSUPSP is still in the top 10? i guess the japanese gamers need a bit longer to realize that it's a piece of crap. oh well...

Considering that number 4 on the chart is Phantasy Star Portable, which sold about 500k, there's quite a headroom for Vesperia to catch up. :p
350k of those 500k were sold last week, wouldn't count on it selling more than 150k this week.

Edit: Make that just over 100k.

Barring any downward revision when the unrounded numbers come out, that looks like the highest opening week for portable FE (and anything else recent). Sacred Stones opened wtih 146k.

Oh shit, I'm still living in the last week. My bad. :O

Absolutely stunning numbers for Rhythm Tengoku too. Nintendo has done a much better job at marketing this one, somehow.

By the way, where did you get the 24k number for HW 360?

5 RPGs in the top 10. Not bad, not bad at all.
It reminds me that 2 years ago some people cried a river because they got less and less JRPGs. Whiny bitches, it just takes some time until the RPGs rock the portables heavily!

I'm sure the really strong word of mouth from the original really helped too. This really seems to be a case of perfect marketing meets perfect audience anticipation.

RTG at 367K by Famitsu's numbers, staggering for a game that started so humbly on GBA, and fantastic to see! :D It's going to top 500K with ease.

Amazing 360 sales also, PS3 has literally no chance of coming close to this, so epic thread incoming, it's going to be fun! ;)

And, of course, great FE DS numbers, guaranteed an English release and sequels abound, on arguably the greatest platform ever, DS.

EDIT:

Oh, and whether a PS3 redesign happens or not, the idea its affect on sales is going be similar to the PSP Slim is fucking retarded! :lol

Sony needs to completely change their home console strategy for the next round if they want a shot at another PS2 in Japan, because this cycle it's over, and it's been over for a loooong time!

MGS4's success is blinding Sony fanboys from the bigger picture and the thing every sales age poster with any perspective agreed on, which was, it would likely cause a temporary bump in hw sales which would then drop back down to 10K levels or under, as is the norm for distant secondary systems, which is exactly what has happened.

Now the real question is, for how long? One week? Two week tops?

One week, just like last time (look at last october/november):

Well I never made a graph before so I downloaded a program, had to learn it, make the chart, then find a host...I know some guys on here can get one up in minutes.
Well then, it'll be easier the second time since you've got the program ready and know a host. :D

I hope FEDS opens with a week greater than the GBA games. That would make me very happy.
For reference, it looks like the biggest first week was for the last one shortly before DS launch, which did 146K. However, it seems like it ended up with the lowest total, failing to double those first week sales.

FE DS = 147k
Ahahaha, I guess it did beat the GBA ones after all.

wow Rhythm Heaven! With this, Ouendan 2 and Band Bros DX I can't help but hope Nintendo revives Canvas Curse next, fingers crossed. Amazing FE and PS numbers too.

Doesn't look that good for Sangokushi Taisen Ten or Summon Night 2 though.

Wii at 36k, someone called Wii going down last year at this same time, isn't it?

What's the sinobi URL? I don't seem to have it bookmarked, and searching Google for sinobi's blog gives me links to places like this thread.

I dunno. Considering it's music games getting the boost, and the continued success of the Taiko DS games, I'd think this would have more bearing on a Donkey Konga DS than another Kirby stylus platformer.

The week of August 27 it dipped below 40K, and wasn't back above until the week of November 19.

Anyone know the url for the site where you can type in the name of the game or publisher and you get sales data for that game?

It started to taper off around now, and ended up in 20K territory in September.

Any feedback for this week's OP is appreciated. If you have any additional information that you felt was left out, or if you have any formatting concerns, I can attempt to address them this week.

I followed Cheese's formatting pretty closely, using additional charts, but it might be improved.

Kind of off topic because I don't want to start a new thread and get it locked...but is there no Weekly Famitsu this week?

he mentions something along the lines of "a shortage of supply would be a shame".
What is he referring to, the hardware or the software?

"As various sources said, it was major disappointment that this "ToV effects" were suffered by not other big titles but the shortage of 360 itself.
If MS brought decent numbers of 360, there was a possibility of being #1 sold console by passing Wii's 36k sales."

hope nintendo keeps this rhythm train going and announces ouendan 3 by the end of the yr.

Pretty unlikely. iNiS is a VERY small company and they're doing LIPS for Microsoft which is probably their most substantial project in terms of effort/manpower ever. I guess it's possible that their publishing deals have been lucrative enough to expand and allow for a second team, but...

Wow - huge missed opportunities by MS there.

At the very least, they could have got a week where they say we beat Wii sales. :lol

Did you actually play the full game, or just the demo? Can't say it's really very good (multiplayer is comparatively laggy), but the full game is definitely better than a piece of crap at the very least.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Maybe use code tags so things could be aligned? In the most basic way it could just line up ranks, systems, and the beginning of titles...
Code:
 1. [PSP] Phantasy Star Portable (SEGA) - 341,700 / NEW
 2. [NDS] Rhythm Tengoku Gold (Nintendo) - 212,877 / NEW
 3. [NDS] Dragon Quest V (Square Enix) - 111,836 / 946,000
 4. [PS3] Soul Calibur IV (Namco Bandai Games) - 74,607 / NEW
 5. [PS2] Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 15 (Konami) - 37,106 / 121,000

What's pushing DS sales higher? IIRC last year the DS also suffered from low sales around this period.
