PSP staying very steady, and yet again ahead of this week last year (albeit by only 4k). Gundam next week should help it a bit
Lots of crying over my statement. Sorry but it's just an obvious observation.

Not this week, but it looks like it's happened twice this year.OldJadedGamer said:So, even if you combine every single Playstation product sold... that number STILL doesn't exceed the DSLite on one of it's lower weeks?
Wow, just wow.
Ahaha, no, DS has had dozens of weeks lower, though mostly in its first year. The last time DS+DSL was lower than this week, though, was... 75,207 the week of August 14, 2006. I believe that was a week they held back, because the next two weeks were 164K and 229K (FFIII release).nubbe said:The DS sure took a dive... lowest sales to date?

Obviously, that won't endear it to non-HDTV owners, but it would still survive as a primary Blu-Ray player until the price could come down. Also, a little re-branding goes a long way (see: DS Lite).
Do you think we might get three more weeks of this?JoshuaJSlone said:Not this week, but it looks like it's happened twice this year.

I think the hypothetical is very unlikely because, assuming Blu-Ray becomes the standard HD format, there will be MUCH cheaper players on the market by 2012.Brak said:Donny's not a spinner, he's just throwing out some hypotheticals. We gotta talk about something, right?

You in last week's MC thread said:So...does 360 have anything that can even remotely help it get atleast to the original Xbox LTD by the end of it's lifetime in Japan?
3k a week.....why even release the next Xbox in Japan? You've tried twice, you've given most of what the Japanese have asked for, yet still failure.

I haven't much been in the business of trying to predict Nintendo's shipments, but that would be something unprecedented for DSL. I already pointed out the last week that was lower than this week, but since DSL's launch they've all been very brief dips. In fact, looking at the three times in the last year that DS+DSL has gone below 100K, there seems to be a pattern: Small week, Average week, Huge week. The Sphinx said:Do you think we might get three more weeks of this?

As for the low DS Lite numbers. Isn't FFXII: RW being released as DS+Game special package? They need to get those DS lites from somewhere.
Cheesemeister said:This Week Sales:
Since 11/27/07:
18 Total Weeks of Next Gen sales.
12 Total Weeks of post-holiday sales.
360 - Following the trend: 2-4k. Next Gen Avg = 9,428. Post Holiday Avg = 5,065.
Wii - Slightly below the trend: 55-72k. Next Gen Avg = 108,984. Post Holiday Avg = 70,562.
PS3 - Below the trend: 19-25k. Next Gen Avg = 45,077. Post Holiday Avg = 23,657.
Results, Analysis, & Expectations
● The 360's sales are insignificant. They will not hit 1 million units before its successor is announced. A week on week perspective (upper graph) actually shows a CONTINUED slide to oblivion. 2k-5k per week for the foreseeable future.
● PS3. Oh god. Seriously. Not good. Not good at all. 20k per week is one thing...15k is quite another. Nothing short of a price an immediate and severe price drop in combination with an immediate release of FFXIII could change this at this point. This is bad. 15-23k for the next 6 weeks, with a possible +5-10k bump for the holidays.
● Down-swing week for the Wii. The Wii is clearly dependent upon hardware shipments, and it appears that units are being held back for a possible holiday-week blitz. 60-80k for the next several weeks, with a possible +20-40k bump for the holidays. 100k week would not be out of the question.
Expectations for 04/02-04/08
360 - 3k*
Wii - 66k << overestimated last week by 15k.
PS3 - 19k*
* = within 5k estimation success the previous week!

Significant Notes:
● The Wii has had a 1 million unit lead on the PS3 for 5 weeks. (currently 1,150,337 lead)
● The Wii just had its second worst week ever at 51k units (worst =44k).
● The PS3 just had its worst week ever at 16k units (previous worst 18.7k).
● The Wii is averaging 70k units in the 12 week post-holiday period.
● The PS3 is averaging 24k units in the 12 week post-holiday period.
● The Wii sold 3.04x the PS3 this week, and has 2.42x LTD.
● The Wii will break 2 million in Japan in less than a weeks.
● The PS3 is at least two months from breaking 1 million. Possibly 3.
If sales repeated this week's results indefinitely, barring all other factors:
● The Wii will have a 1.5 million unit lead by the middle of June.
● The Wii will have a 2 million unit the end of September. Seriously.
● The Wii will have a 3 million unit lead by April 2008.
And this was the slowest console week in Japan this year. (72k units total)
