very dissapointing mng5 numbers

18% attach rate is pretty consistent. How much did you expect ?

How good/bad has sold Mario Party 8 in comparison to the other 7 ?

Yeah I'd like to see something about whether DQS got a new shipment in or not.

Yep. But for that to sell out in 1 week (or actually in less than 1 week, MnG5 got released 26th July (i think?)), i dunno. That would be like 1 out of 3 PS3 owners would buy it the first week. We'll see how next week sales are :)

Wii only @ 70k ? less than previous week ? As a normal week ? with more than 350 000 games sold ? With more shipments supposed ? sound strange....

Not that strange after all. Mario party is a compilation of mini-games that is perfect for the casual and the game is also using the resurrected power of the Mario franchise.

Is the Wii still supply-constrained? Amazon.co.jp has it in stock and sells it for the normal price.

Last week Vinnk said yes. DS isn't it seems.

Good: MP8, MNG5, Taiko, Its a Wonderful World, Oblivion, Zelda, Wii, ps3...
Bad: Gundam, DQS, Dewy, MGS, GGAC, X360...

There is many strong numbers but some disapointements too.

Well, the chart is pretty much translated. The #13 game is from Irem but I don't know its name, and the last one (650 copies) I don't have a freaking clue.

We could be positive and say that Dewy would have sold Elebits numbers (a whole 5000 more) if it hadn't been sent to die last week.

Dissapointing MNG numbers, but that was expected. I think many will be dissapointed with MGS4 and FF13 numbers as well. Slow selling consoles just dont have good software numbers, like almost all Nintendo franchises with the Cube.

Considering that in Japan, Minna no Golf was a bigger franchise then Metal Gear Solid, yes. But considering the userbase: no. After all, almost 20% attach rate is not bad at all. Of course I don't think that a sane guy think that with a userbase of ~2 millions (if the trend continues), Final Fantasy will sell 1.5 millions. There are limits to attach rates.

Nice MNG sales. Why are people complaining. That's great for a PS3 game. People need to stop expecting PS3 sequels of big PS2 games to sell like they did on the PS2. It's not going to happen. Come on folks, the PS3's been non-existant for months now. This can't freaking be a BAD THING!

Oh and GO GO GO OBLIVION. Hmmm seems my theory is holding up. Which means Oblivion will very likely be back in MC next week top 30. MS should have done a freaking bundle. It would have done much better than ES.

It's just a bit disappointing given the bundles, the advertising, and the general lack of other big PS3 games coming up soon.

Like in the NPD, it still wows me that MP8 is selling so well. Only thing that could explain it is that the Mario brand on the Wii will experience the same surge that it experienced on the DS. There could also be some DS halo effect working here.

Super Paper Mario was a good prelude to the resurgence but the sales of a subpar game with a Mario in the name pretty much makes it undeniable. Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl should do exceptional in all territories.

No, not sarcasm.

I've been seeing the PS3 under 10k for a while, its nice to see it at 40k for a change :)

They will likely see it as a sign not to develop for the Wii anymore.

Sadly this may be the case. Hopefully they aren't that stupid.

This is KONAMI, on a Nintendo platform.

That says everything right there.

jj984jj said:
Exactly, it did that badly, no excuse can save those numbers.

Pretty much, they thought that they made a game that aimed at Nintendo's market. Since it failed miserably they will see it as a sign that the Nintendo market doesn't want Konami's games. They don't see it as an ultimatum to make games for an older market, they see it as Nintendo's rejection of a Konami title.

Which means no more Konami.

I don't think it's the last of Konami regardless, but I fear for the Elebits team at least.

Well, on the other hand Konami specifically mentioned Elebits as helping 1st quarter results with strong N.A and Europe sales, so I don't know if Konami's going to pack up and leave quite yet.

Indeed. They already pegged the market as Kiddy and even called it as such. Them releasing two games on the same aesthetic level more or less supports this notion and the second one completely bombing will ensure that no worthy Konami title will probably ever grace the Wii in the next 3-4 years.

Keep in mind that Elebits is still not as over-the-top baby as Dewy is.

And that it was an relatively early title when there were less Wii games out than there are now.

Poor numbers for MNG5. Worst first week numbers for a main iteration since the original game. Particularly bad considering Sony was advertising the hell out of it. Looks like 150k first day sales was overblown, as some suspected. The underperformance of key franchise sequels continues to be very reminiscent of GameCube.

I don't really know what to think of those PS3 numbers. Part of me thinks its good to see it selling a healthy amount in a week for once but then 12 months ago I would've thought it should be jumping from 38k to 80k instead.

Whats the next big title?

I dont think that this is because of Mario but because of the genre and the audience of the Wii.

Dewy a game bombed total and some minigamecrap like Mario Party 8 sells a shitload worldwide. You can now easily forcast the future lineup from Nintendo and otter developers.

Super Paper Mario sold very well, though. It sold more in its early few weeks than the other Paper Marios.

Traditional games (not counting mini games) perform much better on Wii than on PS3, both in Japan and worldwide. Like Shiggy said, you're just full of crap.
