Media Create Sales: Week 16, 2017 (Apr 17 - Apr 23)

Wasn't Capcom's original forecast for MH4 2.8 million, despite the game releasing on a system with a much larger install base than the Switch? What else could sell (the bulk of) 2.7 million? Certainly not MHXXHD or yet another non-mainline MH on 3DS.
2,7m is the forecast for FY entire software line up. That number without MHXXX or another MH non main entry isn't happening.

Capcom expectations aren't far from usual clueless NeoGAF members but even they aren't so out of touch with reality.

I wonder how much, if at all, that's being influenced by folks importing the Japanese Digital copy from Amazon.co.jp? Been seeing lots of folks online talking about doing it. Probably would be #1 regardless, but I'm still curious what the numbers are ther.

Live in Europe? Make a Tenso address, buy MK8DX oand Snipperclips from Amazon japan (48 eur besides 60 and 15 besides 20). That's what I did today.. Sad for European Nintendo but not my fault..

Is the Tenso really necessary? At least buying from the States, it seems like most games purchased from Amazon themselves they'll ship worldwide without intermediary.

Erm.. Don't know. I created the address before Amazon Japan began to ship games outside their land... But we're speaking about the digital version. No shipping here

I still see Animal Crossing on the charts. It's just crazy. I remember that I bought the jpn version on 2012-11-08 first day of release and the game is still on the charts after 4.5 years?? How much is the Ltd?
When I see this, I find it more sad that a lot of games appear only 1 or 2 weeks at the charts when AC New leaf is there since 2012.

How much do you expect those other titles to ship? If it is MH5 or an appealing MH title that would normally ship 3 million+ alone, that conservative forecast could be explained by a late release date.

In non-Japan related sales news - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just overtook Zelda in the annual rankings for Amazon.com...

April could very well be a 600K NPD performance for the Switch

Mario Kart and Golden Week is coming. We knew for big restocks this week since some time ago.

Thanks. Guess I was just surprised to see people easily able to pick one up. I thought they'd be selling out in a matter of minutes or hours still. Maybe that's still the case and this person just was in the right place at the right time, though.

I know that MK8D is a big system seller, but damn, what a monster

Does XI have split screen multiplayer?

I don't understand that ad. Why cast western actors if you're going to dub over them? Even if they use the actual dialogue for an E3 localization announcement, why in Japan?

Not a new thing for the series, Dragon Quest VI had ads with spanish actors and those commercials never aired on spanish speaking territories.

So far we know Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, Great Ace Attorney 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Resident Evil 2 Remake will likely be there too and there are catalog sales of previous titles, especially XX that still has a lot of power left. Even assuming Capcom will launch nothing else this FY except the major title these titles represent many 100ks of the 2,75m.

Obviously Itsuno's new game is a Sengoku Basara game which will explode in popularity.

It's a bit weird though, why is Capcom releasing a non-MH 5 that late if it is a MH game. They just released XX another such game even if it's just a port or something would be unnecessarily dragging their tails. I'm thinking either it is MH 5 and it's releasing really late or Capcom doesn't know what it's doing with it and it's taking longer than expected. Either that or two MH games in one year.

This has been the norm for the series' commercials for over the past 15 years. Don't think much about it, they are just giving the commercials an exotic adventure vibe.

Sony got that deal after all. MH5 pS4 2.5 million boom everyone wins except capcom, sony, and nintendo.

A MHXX HD would still make a lot of sense to prepare the arrival of MH5
They always start with something else in new consoled before bringing the numbered new episode
Being MH5 obviously skipping the 3DS if it will be on Switch, ps4 or both I would say that MHXX HD on those consoles could fit the less than 2 million forecast still being major (1.8 millions?)

Lol good one

My Nintendo Store sold out of Switch's in 10 minutes yesterday. Next restock won't be available until May 8.

Also looks like Yodobashi had some Switch stock online yesterday too, but they also quickly sold out.

It always does. It always does.
Can't wait for Switchzilla vs V2ong

Yeah but that either means two MH in a year or MH5 comes in 2019. HD ports of MH have never sold well let alone year old ones. It's taking some mighty big risks. If that was the plan HD should have came out this year with 5 around Christmas. Not well that.

How much is the last MvC 3 did here? Is 2 million going to be achievable guys? I heard from some of my pals that the launch is not even complete as they will need to wait for some DLC again for favorite character like SFV? And X-Men is not in the game?
  • Vanilla MvC3 did around 2 million, whereas UMvC3 sold over a million (worldwide).
  • How complete it'll be at launch remains to be seen, but it will have Story Mode, Arcade Mode, & a few other modes on Day 1. The roster in particular may be bigger than usual Day 1 Capcom fighters thanks to them reusing assets for the veterans.
  • The current rumor is that we won't get any X-Men until 2018 at the earliest, though the blame for this would fall squarely on Marvel, not Capcom.

Capcom teased a "major title" coming out before March 31,2018. A multi plat game, Switch is in it too.
Did Capcom say that the "major title" will be multiplatform including Switch? AFAIK they plan to "launch 2 major titles" and "promote multiplatform development, including for the Nintendo Switch" but I don't think they've confirmed anything beyond that.
