1. I didn't say wow at the chart, but I did say Whoa. Keanu style.
2. I freaking love the Mario Chart. Keep that shit alive!
3. VF5 bomba complete, but that isn't surprising. PS3 won't even hit 30k this week.
4. The Wii will still sell more than 2.5x the amount the PS3 did.
5. The DS sales are (will be) ****ing disgusting. This might become the greatest selling system of all time.

What is the next "Wait until ### comes out!" for the PS3? Gundam? FFXIII? Something else?

I would say Gundam. It will outperform VF5, probably 75-100K I'm guessing.

I'm having fun playing VF5 regardless, sucks at the bombage so far though.

Another dominating week for Nintendo, however it looks like Jet Impulse really took the pipe. Not even in the top 30 its first week. I was hoping it would do well, as flight combat is a genre Nintendo's never really tried before, except for Star Fox, which is more of a straight-forward shooter.

Jet Impulse bombing just means they'll actually have to promote it here, especially the nwc features. The only thing it's messing is in-game voice chat for co-op missions.

And you think VF5 will sell better if it release on 360 or Wii ?
I don't say PS3 has bright future but when people talk about wait until ### comes out , I only think about FF, MGS , RE, GT or other million seller games.

It looks like Wii Music will be the Next Big Thing on the Wii.
I think that's exactly why we haven't heard much about it since E3 -- I think they realize that it's got huge potential, and they needed to actually take it back and work more on it and get it right.

Honestly, I liked the idea of the conducting game at E3 more than I liked its execution. And I think they know it.

I can't believe all the VF5 'bomba' stuff in this thread.

One single fighting game isn't going to sell an uber-expensive console at this point.

Just as the 50hr+ RPG Blue Dragon didn't have legs.

When PS3 gets some real FFXIII, MGS, DMC, Gundam Mousou, White Knight Story release dates under its belt, believe me, sales will rocket.

Japan just seem more patient than ever when it comes to anything other than Nintendo hardware. Whereas they'd previously rush out and buy the latest thing, now they seem happy to sit back, wait, and see.

I think PS3 will have much more success before then end of 2007, but potentially 360 too if they can bunch some quality RPGs together (Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, IU, etc)

If VF5, with 48K, is #1 in sales for the week and is considered a "bomb", what does that make all those titles behind it? :/

Million sellers or soon-to-be million sellers, for a good amount of them ?

PS3 ushering in a new era of... patience... with non-Nintendo hardware. I have not heard this theory before.

Which one, the new million seller or the one that's been around 60 weeks?

It actually does sound pretty cool to me, but I couldn't think how it would actually work as a game.

WiiMusic was one of my favorite games at E3. You look like an idiot, but it's fun when you get into it. I scored 96!

Maybe after Gundam Musou comes out to the same tune as VF5, then people will clearly understand that Japan in Nintendo country.

If VF5 hasn't had a big effect on PS3's sales, Gundam will not have neither. The problem is that all big PS3's games will coming out in 2008: FFXIII, MGS4, Afrika, White Knights, Gran Turismo, Devil May Cry, ....

And what about 2007 ? After Gundam, what is the next big game for PS3 ?

I dunno. I just wasn't expecting this in Japan this gen - none of us were. The market has become so unpredictable. Who would've thought that DOA4 would have sold faster than VF5? Absolutely no-one on GAF, that's for sure.

But Final Fantasy has always been such a huge juggernaut. Selling millions upon day of release. Surely something's gotta come of that?

It probably will do well. And yet sadly Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey will get completely ignored in comparison.

Super Robot Taisen W for DS comes the same day as Gundam Musou so there's the game that will knock it.

Monster Hunter Portable has to be around 920.000 selling like 15k weekly. It is really going to be a million seller, impressive success for Capcom here.

I was so near predicting Wii Sports above Virtua Fighter 5 :lol
Its totally obvious that the war is over, PS3 gets a 500k selling franchise and it sells 10% of what it should while Wii has 2 new IPs selling that weekly.

Tales vs Layton this week guys!

After seeing DQIX and the FFXII follow-up going to DS, maybe we just have to wait for the other shoe to drop at this point? S-E might be asking for trouble by staying exclusive to any one platform with the main FF series at this point, but perhaps we'll see history repeat itself. It may prove difficult to offer ports given how high the graphical bar has been set for XIII. I, for one, am looking forward to it. Should S-E bail out on the PS3 exclusivity, however, sell your Foreman grills, it'd be all over.

Ultimately, it's still too early to call despite the strong early trends.

While Wii Music would probably focus with using the Wii-mote to conduct, to be 'drums', and such, it reminds me of Electronic Art's "Music Construction Set" (all of the 'revolutionary' Wii games remind me of some early 1980s era game).

Game Over said:
The program, "Music Construction Set," was remarkable for its time. A joystick controlled a movable hand on the video screen that picked up notes, sharps, clef signs, and other symbols, then set them down on a staff. The computer played them back when the tiny hand pointed at an icon of a piano. The program required no computerese and no previous knowledge of musical notation. Trip Hawkins saw it and decided "in about three seconds" that he wanted it. Reviewing it in 1983, TIME said it was "one of those rare pieces of software that open up the computer market to a new class of consumer."

There are tons of music software out that make music in a very sophisticated manner. But there is a perfect opening for music software that is pick-up-and-play and fun. It is more fun to actually drum with the Wii-mote than to enter little notes and have the computer play them back. Older adults love this type of software (my elderly father plays with it all the time on the computer even though he has no music background).

If done right, Wii Music would be bigger than Brain Trainer. Just as Wii Sports allowed the Wii to be seen as a 'fitness' type tool by some, Wii Music would come across as an 'artist' type tool to others. Wii Music would also help challenge the stigma that video games have (such as what Wii Sports did by becoming 'physical').

Nintendogs doesn't work as a game.

Well even as a piece of entertainment. One thing I can think of would be to bring in your own music via the memory sticks, but I can see conducting for the sake of conducting getting old real fast. Wii Sports at least has that training thing for single player mode.

The thing is, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, etc, may be good sellers, but they're not "huge." The only one I can give that title to is Final Fantasy, and even it's playerbase has been shrinking.

FF will definately move units, though. But from what I understand, Japan buys a system for one game, then sells the system off after they beat it. Hopefully that trend doesn't effect the PS3.

Anyway, I expect that Wii Music will sell "okay." I think the real megaton might be Wii Fitness when it hits the states. If Nintendo advertises it right, it could be the Wii's Brain Age.

As for music games in general... Ubi needs to make Rayman: Bump to the Beat or something, as I REALLY liked that music minigame in RRR.

Don't forget that was just a demo shown at E3. For all we know Wii Music could become a typical rhythm based music game but with motion sensing controls, aka Samba de Amigo, except with a lot more variations.

Non-gamers = a lot a people, that don't even know this game yet

It seems to be an exploration game, probably similar to forever blue. Could be interesting if they pull it off right.

Over the last year, it has become very predictable in Japan. Just say Nintendo domination and you will be right every time.

They could turn it into a rhythm thing with visual cues and all that, like Donkey Konga, except you're conducting with the remote rather than bashing bongos. Maybe crossed with something like the last boss in Smooth Moves.

Games that have been out for months to years, multiple million sellers, non-bombas?
